Red Pill – “God Complex”[P###. Dayggs]

Mello Music Group emcee Red Pill is the latest emcee to spit an original freestyle for the DJ Booth series and he killed it. Check the track below. The beat is on some computerized crazy Run the Jewels type-ish and Red Pill clearly has some sort of a complex because he raps like he has a chip on his shoulder. Def a throwback sound and quick lil joint for your day to stay in the groove.

Drake Clowns Meek Mill Live On Stage At OVO Fest (PHOTOS/VIDEOS)

(AllHipHop News) Drake is not letting up in his battle with Meek Mill. The Toronto rhymer borrowed a play from Jay Z’s book by putting his opponent on that OVO Fest screen.

While performing the diss record “Back To Back,” Drizzy had images of Meek memes displaying in the background. His hometown crowd went wild as Drake ran through lines like “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?” and “trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers.”

ALTERNATIVE PICK – Santo August – “Amazing”

With a healthy social media following and an already existing fan base from his younger years, LA bred Santo August is making moves with his new single, dubbed “Amazing.” Coupled with clean visuals that picture Santo August singing next to the waves of the Pacific Ocean, this 18 year-old talent has the look and the sound to take his career to the next level, beyond being a regional sensation.

“The concept behind ‘Amazing’ is personal and I know people can relate to it. It’s about a female being amazing, but the only thing is she’s going crazy because she’s in love, she can’t control her emotions, so she just acts a little crazy,” Santo explained.

Top 5 Album Covers Of 2015 So Far

5. Ghostface Killah & Adrien Young- 12 Reasons to Die II
Record Label: Linear Labs
Release Date : July 10

Ghostface Killah 12 Reasons to Die II
This cinematic album cover serves as the visual representation of Ghostface’s 70’s crime thriller themed album. In this image Ghostface Killer lurks in the background with smoke adrift, ready to continue on his warpath of revenge. As a fan of classic movies myself the noir theme of the imagery is definitely eye catching.

4. Joey Bada$$- B4 Da $$
Record Label: Cinematic/ Pro Era
Release Date: January 20
Designer: Antonio “Tony Whlgn” Robinson

joey-badass-B4.DA_.-670x670
This image manages to capture the personality and artistic identity of Joey Badass very well. The legendary skyline of New York is captured in the background in black and white with the title of the album in colorful graffiti style, which is reminiscent of the golden age of the culture. The contrast of the bleak skyline in comparison to the colorful album title and border makes the image really jump out at the eye.

3. Curren$y- Pilot Talk III
Record Label: Jet Life
Release Date: April 4
Designer: David Barnett

currensy-pilot-talk-3-670x670
This cover stays true to the overall theme of the Pilot Talk series and is just very appealing visually, simple as that. The theme is intergalactic in this extremely detailed image, as humans and extra-terrestrials are granted the privilege to look up at the jets from several planets as opposed to one. Also, a closer look at the planets would reveal a pattern of leaves very similar to those of the green goddess Mary Jane. A coincidence, maybe or maybe not? Who’s to say?

2. A$AP Rocky- A.L.L.A
Record Label: RCA/A$AP Worldwide
Release Date: May 26

Asap ALLA cover
January 18th was a sad day for the A$AP Mob collective as they lost founder Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez. This vivid, intriguing cover is Asap Rocky’s tribute to his very close friend, which helped him a lot in the progression of his career. The imagery shows Rocky’s face infused with Asap Yams, with Yamborghini’s birthmark and tattoo clearly depicted. Pretty Flacko stays true to his gaudy style on the cover as his hands are dripping with ice, but in this case this only acts as a minor complement to this great visual tribute to a lost one.

1. Kendrick Lamar- To Pimp a Butterfly
Record Label: Interscope/Aftermath/TDE
Release Date: March 15
Designer/Photographer: Denis Rouvre

kendrick-lamar-TPAB
This shockingly bold album cover sent spine tingling chills reverberating through the rap world with its blunt uncut imagery. Featuring a rather eclectic combination of images which include; a child throwing up the middle finger and a dead judge, this cover is not shy in its portrayal of hood stereotypes, contempt towards the system, and the victory of the underdog. The imagery is a great representation of the rise of the maligned and disenfranchised and Kendrick Lamar’s vow to stay true to his origins.

Sweet Da Kid – Your Mother’s Other Son (EP)

Recording under the watch of Grammy-nominated producer Salaam Remi, you’ll catch the rapper Sweet Da Kid sporting his signature ski-mask while spitting cocky and smartly-phrased lyrics. Proud to represent his roots in Camden, New Jersey, Sweet credits UGK, MF DOOM and Paul Wall as key influences on his style.

Showcasing his creative clout on his six-track debut EP, executive produced by Salaam, Your Mother’s Other Son, kicks off with “I’m Reloaded.” Boasting the firebrand ad libs of Pain in Da Ass, best known for opening Jay Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt, the opener introduces a run of beats produced by Key Wane (whose recent credits include hits for Drake and Big Sean). Sweet Da Kid’s mentor Salaam Remi contributes lilting production for the introspective “When I Blow.” Following the project’s self titled piano laden anthem, the EP concludes with, “Don’t Forget The Name,” an experimental and off-kilter track that has become Sweet Da Kid’s calling card as he drops references to Freaks and Geeks while casting himself as the “thug Robin Hood.”  Consider the Your Mother’s Other Son EP as your official introduction to the man behind the ski-mask.

Tracklist:
01. I’m Reloaded (feat. Pain in Da Ass) [p###. by Key Wane]
02. Church (p###. by Key Wane)
03. Sheepbaaad (p###. by Key Wane)

In light of the recent uptake in violence Adrian Swish presents: “Day Onez” feat Big WY & AD (P### by Larry Jayy), the first single off his “On The Set”: Crips & Bloods Compilation Mixtape set to release Aug 24.

This project is inspired by the street rap and gang cultures in Los Angeles, including the Original Bloods & Crips “Bangin On Wax” project released on Dangerous Records in 1993. At its time it was the first time the world saw Bloods and Crips come together for a common cause to cease the violence going on in the inner cities. Big WY is an OG from the Red side who was on the original project and AD is one of the hottest new artists from Compton representing the Blue side.

Peace, stop the violence.

As an intrinsic lyricist and storyteller,  Rapsody’s,  waxed perspective continues to earn her recognition and respect far beyond the borders of her native North Carolina. The Beauty and the Beast wordsmith continues to shine as she stands alongside artists like Kendrick Lamar, and proves that she is truly an MC. Relying upon her growing intellect, cunning diction, and polished delivery she recently talked to AllHipHop.Within the interview, she exclusively shared her views of President Barack Obama’s terms in office.

Because, I think there are a lot of brothers that are put in jail for the wrong thing — or first time offenders are [incarcerated] for way to long — that changes your life,” she candidly expressed.  The Jamla Records signee also speaks about the American Education system where children are forced to memorize material to pass tests. Typ-iLL and longtime collaborator/producer, 5ickness, put on for their hometown of Long Island, N.Y. with a summery, uplifting new joint, “Without Love.” From the crackling needle drop to the fading vocal loop, the track is both an ode to Strong Island and a message to anyone doubting Typ’s passion and love for his art.

Lil Scrappy’s Baby Mama Claims Domestic Violence & Files Restraining Order?

Photo via Lil’ Scrappy’s Instagram

It seems like this custody battle is getting worse for Lil’ Scrappy. There have been claims that Lil’ Scrappy’s baby mama, Love & Hip Hop’s Erica Dixon, has filed a restraining order against Lil’ Scrappy, and her reasoning is alleged domestic violence. It remains unclear if the said act of violence was committed against Erica or their daughter Emani. Apparently the judge felt there was enough evidence to grant Erica a temporary restraining order, and Lil’ Scrappy has to stay away from Erica or face jail time. Well on the next season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta….
