Later on the a separate track “Sh*t,” Weezy spit, “Did my time at Cash Money. Time served and released, but this agent ain’t free.”

According to TMZ, Cash Money boss Bryan “Birdman” Williams is not pleased that his “son” chose to air out his frustrations on a record. The sites reports:

Our sources say Birdman is angry on 2 fronts … that Wayne is trying to bail on a binding contract and even more personal, he’s putting their relationship on blast.

Nas: I'm Waiting For People Not To Be Scared Of The Race Issue

(AllHipHop News) Nas recently did an with interview GQ magazine, and the Queens emcee was asked about various topics – Hip Hop, his career, and race relations. When writer Zach Baron asked the 41-year-old rap icon if activists have contacted him after he participated in the Eric Garner protests in New York, the creator of the classic album Illmatic replied by stating he is an activist.

Nas said:

We’re already activists. I’m looking at what’s happening to the world, and I’m waiting for people to stop being scared. Mainly whites in power and in government, to not be scared of the race issue. Not be scared to say, “This is wrong, and this has to change.” Not be scared to do what’s right.

He continued explaining what he feels people are afraid of:

Votes. Their career. Backlash. They’re confused; they don’t really know much about it. We’re all human beings. So I understand being scared. But at some point, you got to come out and do the right thing. No matter who you are, you got to put the people first. Compassion, and your love for people, has to exist. And your love to humanity has to exist. It can’t just always be about your career, your money, your stature, where you think you belong in this government. You’ve got to be about reality and love.

Those fears Nas spoke on were echoed in a statement made by another Queens, New York rap representative. Young Money’s Nicki Minaj was featured in a 2014 issue of Rolling Stone. The “Feeling Myself” performer told the publication:

I feel like when Public Enemy were doing ‘Fight the Power,’ we as a culture had more power — now it feels hopeless. People say, “Why aren’t black celebrities speaking out more?” But look what happened to Kanye when he spoke out. People told him to apologize to Bush… He was the unofficial spokesman for hip-hop, and he got torn apart. And now you haven’t heard him speaking about these last couple things, and it’s sad.

Pknuckle – EPIC (Mixtape)

With his statement, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man,” Jay Z inspired a generation of hybrids acts who were fed up with being a cog in the music industry’s grand machine. While not directly connected to Hov, PKnuckle seems to carry those same values. Born in Queens, but raised in Van Nuys, CA, education and the hustle have always been the cornerstone of P’s master plan. That very hustle that has allowed him to work with the likes of Xzibit, and Ras Kass, has transitioned into his latest project, Epic.

Clocking in at 13 tracks, EPIC is an accurate portrayal of the Armenian rhymer and everything he’s been through. While the album lacks a lot of features besides some hot verses from Sticky Fingaz and RMean, we’re able to place the focus on Pknuckle, and begin to perceive his world view. While those unaware of the West Coast sound will far too often typecast it as flashy and without substance, PKnuckle puts on for his city by sticking to the facts, and highlighting his hoods top spots. EPIC features a handful of freestyles over some of the biggest tracks of the last few years, as well as some potent bars over Kavinsky’s “Nightcall.” The 13 track project is now available for free download, courtesy of AudioMack.

The Power 105 radio personality was asked about Azealia referring to him as “J###### Tha Champagne Goddess.” In an interview with VladTV, Charlamagne actually admitted the “212” rapper reminds him of himself in the way she comes up with insulting nicknames, but he also addressed AB calling a “house n****r,” “Uncle Tom” and “coon.”

“I’ve realized with all the racial tension going on in America – first of all, a lot of these young kids be using insults that they don’t really know the meaning behind the insult,” said the Guy Code cast member. “You call Charlamagne a coon. You know what a coon is? A coon is somebody that reinforces the negative stereotypes of Black people. So technically 90% of Hip Hop are a bunch of coons, because they pretend to be drug dealers and gangsters.”

Charlamagne dismissed the idea that he is a “coon” or “Uncle Tom,” suggesting a lot of his personal ideologies are the same as Dr. Martin Luther King. He added Houston rapper and former reality show star Riff Raff is a real example of a coon and the White rapper that truly represents the appropriation of Hip Hop.

“If they let Riff Raff blow up in 2015, y’all better wild the f**k out. The way y’all treating Iggy, y’all better wild out,” Charlamagne stated. “That’s a coon. That’s cultural appropriation, 360%.”

Big Gipp Talks "Soul Food" 20th Anniversary And Recreational Rivalry With Diddy

Allhiphop.com recently sat down with Big Gipp of the Goodie Mob to talk about the 20th anniversary of their southern classic album “Soul Food”. During the discussion Gipp also talked about recording the album at Curtis Mayfield’s house in southwest Atlanta.

“We recorded that album at the great Curtis Mayfield’s house. I think that made us have to work harder. We had to do something great. Because at anytime he could come home and be like, “Why yall recording this bullsh@$ in my house?” So we always made sure we were doing some great music so just in case he came home and heard it. He would be like I respect that.”
Furthermore Gipp talked about how Puff Daddy inspired one of their songs. We were playing basketball against Bad Boy at the Dungeon.. Puffy comes down with some New York Knicks to the game.. He got professional basketball players against us in the hood. lol They beat us but then we played football. We were supposed to be playing Flag football but we were out there tackling. T-Raww is planning to release the project on his Last Kings label but Cash Money apparently is giving him a hard time since he recorded the album while on YMCMB.

U.S. Justice Department Recommends No Federal Charges Against Darren Wilson

Though Darren Wilson was not indicted by the grand jury regarding the death of Michael Brown, the U.S. Justice Department was looking into pursuing civil rights charges against Wilson. It’s reported that the Justice Department is now recommending that no civil rights charges be brought against Wilson due to no evidence being found to support the charges during a F.B.I investigation.

In order for Wilson to have been federally charged, the Justice Department would’ve had to prove that he intended to violate Brown’s rights when he shot him and had done so willfully. The F.B.I investigation did not uncover that Wilson had any ill will when he opened fire and no new evidence was discovered.

When or if the Justice Department officially decides to not bring charges against Wilson, the case regarding the unarmed teen’s death will be closed.  Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and his civil rights chief Vanita Gupta will have the final say on whether charges will be brought against Wilson or not, but they are unexpected to overrule the Justice Department’s recommendation.

Benjamin L. Crump, the Brown family’s lawyer,  declined to comment or get a reaction from the family on the decision until the Justice Department makes an official statement.

“We’ve heard speculation on cases before that didn’t turn out to be true,” Mr. Crump told the New York Times. “It’s too much to put the family through to respond to every rumor.”

Wilson resigned from the Ferguson Police Department in November 2014 after receiving death threats against him and other officers.

Stevie Wonder Says Kendrick Lamar Is 'Extremely Talented'

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one fanning out over Kendrick Lamar.

In a recent sit down with GQ for their February issue, Stevie Wonder expressed his admiration for the good kid and even broke out into his own version of K. Dot’s single “i” in excitement.

“Kendrick Lamar is extremely talented. But not only is he just talented; he has a real concern for the people,” Stevie says. It’s at this point in our conversation that Stevie jams out to his own rendition of Kendrick’s new single, “i,” his braids bouncing into motion, the wattage of his huge smile going up a few notches as he uses all four limbs to tap out different rhythms to the song. He turns “i” into the Stevie Wonder version of Kendrick Lamar—as though everything that goes into his ears gets remixed before it comes out again. “The good thing about the young,” he says about Kendrick, “is that they want to fix things. They don’t want to fall into the same ol’ b#######.”

The Gentlemen’s Quarterly rounded up acts like Stevie, Nas and their cover star Pharrell for their Legacy Project, which spotlights musicians who are building their legacy and those who will undoubtedly go down in history as one of music’s greats.  Take a look at Mr. Wonder’s story here and then head over to see the 19 stars featured in The Legacy Project.
