Producer Jahlil Beats Clarifies Bobby Shmurda Did Not Steal Lloyd Banks' Beat (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N***a” has become one of the most jacked beats of the summer with numerous rappers adding their vocals to unofficial remixes. While Shmurda and his Shmoney Dance propelled the track into an internet hit, it was actually once tackled by G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks.

The beat’s producer, Jahlil Beats, recently spoke about Banks’ version called “Jackpot.” The Roc Nation associate explains how the track eventually ended up with Shmurda.

Beats told MrBiznessProductions:

I did the record like two years ago – 2012. [Banks] dropped a record called ‘Jackpot’ which was crazy too. But Banks didn’t really do nothing to it. It didn’t even go on his mixtape. I guess he wasn’t rocking with it at that time, so he let the joint go.

Then two years later the kid Bobby Shmurda did something to it. The joint was buzzing on the internet. It’s a young brother from Brooklyn trying to come up, so I’m like, ‘Rock with that joint. Banks didn’t buy the record, so go ahead and do your thing.’ I’m just trying to see another young brother come up and make it in the game, so I gave him the record…

No, he didn’t steal the beat from Banks. Everything was all love, and I gave him my blessing.

Jahlil also revealed he is now working on Shmurda’s upcoming album. The Pennsylvania native previously crafted beats for Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Fabolous, Diddy, Rick Ross, T.I., Meek Mill, and others.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Will Iggy Collaborate With Lil Kim?

Now, this would be very awkward.

In a recent interview, T. I. claims that Iggy Azalea and Lil Kim might be getting together and making some music. That’s a bit of a scary notion, if you ask me. Why? It almost assures that there is friction between Nicki and Iggy. You can’t be neutral when you collab with the rival of your rival! If this is the case, Iggy would then be entering the Lion’s Den of rap beef. Nicki ain’t no slouch in the shots fired department so I doubt that there will be any declarations of war. Nevertheless, this is what Tip had to say, “I got a call from Kim. She said it’s time to find that record to get [a collaboration] done.” He also said that a Remy Ma song could happen too. This could get Iggy out of the Lion’s Den of public opinion about her authenticity as well. I don’t know. I think this could spark a war. On the flip side, Nicki is pretty much always about female unity so maybe not.

Epic Fail Or Epic Win? Thug Dance To Praise God (VIDEO)

I don’t know what to think of this. We definitely need to get our warriors (often called gang bangers) out of the life and into something productive. But at what cost? I was chillin’ on the internet and came across this video of a confused thug. He may not be that confused, but he had on both red and blue. But he had all the guns and all that, but suddenly something changes…HE GOES IN THE THUG PRAISE! Peep it!

DJ Mustard Talks Him and YG Almost Quitting, His Beats Sounding The Same + MORE

(AllHipHop News) Mustard has been on almost every popular song of 2014. During a recent interview, DJ Mustard explains when himself and label partner YG were planning on quitting rap, his sound being duplicated and more.

In 2014 alone, DJ Mustard has produced tracks for J. Lo, Jason Derulo, Trey Songz, T.I. and Iggy Azaela and a litany of others. Mustard, the official DJ of YG explained to Billboard how himself and YG were close to quitting years ago:

YG and I told each other when we was coming up that if we didn’t feel like we was close to making it by 25, we was going to stop. Now, we’re cool.

With ubiquity comes imitation and Mustard is aware of the imitations of his sound found in other production, specifically Iggy Azaela’s “Fancy. According to Mustard, “You can’t pick a fight with anyone doing something with your sound. I actually play ‘Fancy’ when I DJ. It doesn’t bother me.” While that criticisms is brushed off, Mustard addressed the idea that all of his beats sound the same:

I hear a lot of people saying my stuff sounds the same. When you’re in my position, people come to you to give them the same sound in a different type of way. And once they’re happy with it and you’re happy with it, there’s another hit record. But this album is going to show people I can do whatever type of music.

DJ Mustard’s debut album 10 Summers releases on Google Play tomorrow (August 12th).

Drake Costs Toronto Raptors $25,000 Over "Public Recruiting" Of Kevin Durant

(AllHipHop News) What’s 25 grand to a team like the Toronto Raptors? Drake helped them find out. According to reports, the Raptors were fined by the NBA over its new global ambassador’s comments about Kevin Durant at his recent OVO Festival concert.

At the fifth annual OVO Fest in Toronto, Drake ended the show by mentioning that Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant was in attendance. Before inciting a “KD” chant from the crowd, Drake mentioned his interest in Durant playing for the Raptors:

You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen.

According to ESPN’s sources, the NBA fined the Toronto Raptors for public recruiting since Drake is the team’s global ambassador. Kevin Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2016.

Ceytra "Good Enough"

“Chicago female emcee Ceytra is back with one of her most personal records yet. Chicago producer C-Sick who has produced for the likes of Nas, Fabolous, King Louie, and many more helps take the track to the next level. Sampling the song “Shorty Swing My Way” by K.P. & Envyi gives the audience a familiar sound as Ceytra takes you on a story about not being “Good Enough.” “Good Enough” is about her relationship with a “celebrity” romance and feeling unappreciated at times in life. Ceytra is joined on the record by R&B singer Simone Ariel that places the final touches on this heartfelt record.”

Ceytra stated, “I’m so excited about my upcoming project “No Wahala”… It’s so versatile & different. I got to be myself & create something different than the usual of music.. When it comes to the production, I’m always picky but that makes it even more special… Every song has to sound like a potential hit.”

EXCLUSIVE: Young Dolph Explains The Benefits Of Not Drinking Lean + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The drink “lean” has taken the lives of multiple rappers and last September Gucci Mane claimed it “destroyed” him. In PART TWO of our exclusive with Young Dolph, he explains why stopping “lean” would be good and more.

Reports surfaced earlier this year stating that Actavis, the company which sells the cough syrup concoction known as “lean” was discontinuing the production of the drink due to negative press for it from musicians’ usage. Dolph states that the drink has been popular in the South for over 20 years and has recently attained national recognition. While he agrees the discontinuing of the drink is good, he does not completely give up on “lean”:

It’s really good. It’s going to help some people out. It’s going to save some people so some can have their daddies around some extra years. But, you can’t stop nobody from doing what they do. Everybody going to do what they do. I’ve been drinking [lean] since I was 17.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Has Nick Cannon Already Moved On From Mariah Carey?

I don’t know if this is true, but I think it is. I will tell you why. There is a rumor on the street that Nick Cannon and Mariah are finished – DONE. Recently, Nick did an interview and he was asked that status of his situation with his wife. He responded “No Comment.” This is strange, because he always comments. He even had Mariah in his stand up comedy show recently. He’s super busy. I don’t know for sure, but her last album pretty much flopped. Nevertheless, these rumors have been persistent. I heard a real life rumor that Nick has already moved all the way on from Mariah. Certain people I know have informed me that they have seen Nick fully vested in another woman. I never posted this because I’m definitely the Rumor Dude with some scruples! With all the reports that are going around, I wish these guys well.

EXCLUSIVE: Snootie Wild Says Writing Lyrics Is Like Lying, Recording "Yayo" in 30 Minutes + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) There isn’t a shortage of paper and pens but writing lyrics could be a thing of the past. In our EXCLUSIVE interview, Snootie Wild explains why he does not write lyrics and why he

Jay Z, Common, Lil Wayne and tons of other rappers have admitted to not writing lyrics for a variety of reasons. Some do not write as to save time by freestyling the song, but according to Snootie Wild, he does not write due to him being honest:

My motto is ‘if you got to write it you lying.’ If you ain’t lying then you have to think too hard on something to cover up the truth. What I spit is facts and when you freestyling you can’t hold back truth. It’s going to slip up.

Wild admits that he “freestyled ‘Yayo’ in a car” and recorded the song in 30 minutes.

As a teenager, Snootie Wild played basketball until he was stabbed in the leg at 17 years old. Snootie says the end of his basketball aspirations led to his disinterest in the NBA:

I was young when that happened. About 16, 17. Due to the point I kind of cared about it so much that I kind of made myself not be interested in it. It came to the point now where I don’t watch basketball too much anymore.

Ab-Soul Talks Lessons From Jay Electronica, Asking Mac Miller To Say "N*gga" + MORE

(AllHipHop News) Ab-Soul is complex but he is not oblivious to criticism. In a recent interview he addressed criticism over his album These Days…, lessons he learned from Jay Electronica and more.

Earlier this year, Jay Electronica and Ab-Soul developed a friendship through Twitter and in February, Soul informed MTV that Electronica was his “spiritual advisor”. During his interview with HipHopDX, Ab-Soul shares one of the lessons from Electronica:

I’ll tell you a message from Jay Electronica. He said, “People like us, we have to go through extensive training in order to be conditioned for what we have to do.” So, I say that to say, enjoy the hurdles, enjoy the hardships, enjoy the struggle because these are the things in a real weird, weird, creepy way. These are the things that we admire most about the people that we admire most—the people that overcome the most. Music is a very successful tool in doing that, in turning a frown upside down.

One of the criticisms of Ab-Soul’s These Days… album is a noticable lack of overt deep messages in exchange for more commercially viable sounding music. Soul admits to know of the criticism but explains how this album compares with his prior album Control System:

I mean like how was it not Control System Part 2 either? I came off on my first song, I said, “Blame God, don’t blame her / All I did was take gangsters to church / Got your lady with literature in her Louis bag / Got your kids studying outside of class / Every project that I drop, she bought ‘em / So now she reads more than she red bottom.” How is that not Control? That’s the first song. What are they talking about? I probably said “third eye” on the album 10 times at least.

Soul recorded the majority of his album in Mac Miller’s home studio in California, with Miller producing the Danny Brown-assisted “Ride Slow”. Miller has achieved considerable commercial success in his young career and Ab-Soul says he tested how down to Earth he still was:

I had to test him. I’m like, “Man, I just need you, just say, “N*gga.” Just say, “N*gga” on this record.” He’s like, “I can’t do it, Soul. I can’t do it.” I’m like, “OK, you’re still on the ground.” So even with all of these influences, he knows his boundaries as well. As an artist and as a person, he’s not gonna disrespect anybody. He knows his limitations as well, which is cool.
