Sir Mix-A-Lot Discusses Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" Sampling "Baby Got Back"

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s latest single “Anaconda” borrows heavily from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s single “Baby Got Back.” The repetitive “my anaconda don’t” line sampled on the forthcoming The Pink Print album track first dominated radio back in 1992 as the ode to big butts skyrocketed up the charts.

Mix-A-Lot spoke with MTV News about Nicki’s 2014 version of his #1 hit. The Seattle-based entertainer explained how he stayed in constant contact with the Young Money raptress as she created “Anaconda.”

“[Nicki] called [while she was] in the studio,” said Mix. “I don’t really know Nicki Minaj, but I can tell you this: Lazy, she is not. That girl works hard. I was blown away by her work ethic. She would hit us up, she’d be in the studio vibing, coming up with different ideas, making sure those ideas were cool. She’d call you back after a couple more hours.”

Mix-A-Lot also reveals that while he did get information about the tune during the recording process, he found out about its infamous cover art just like the rest of us.

“Wooooh! When I saw the cover, I almost forgot about the song,” he stated. “I looked at that for about an hour.”

Other artists to use elements of “Baby Got Back” in their own songs include fellow YMCMB performer Lil Wayne (“The Motto”) and rap superstar Eminem (“Just Lose It”).

Jeezy: Nobody In This Game Got My Credentials… It's Me & 2Pac, That's It

(AllHipHop News) Veteran rapper Jeezy gave an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, and the Atlanta native used the platform to separate himself from his musical peers. The “Seen It All” rhymer expressed now his mission is to take on a leadership role for the youth. According to Jeezy, the only other Hip Hop star to carry that load was Tupac Shakur.

“I can’t prove anything to nobody in this game. Ain’t nobody in this game got my credentials,” said Jeezy. “It ain’t nothing to talk about. It’s me and Pac. That’s it, leave it there.”

When asked about Jay Z’s place in that conversation, Jeezy shows respect to his frequent rhyme partner, but adds he and Tupac represent the revolutionary side of the coin while Jay represents the business side.

“Hov is a business man, but me and Pac were more so on some revolutionary leadership,” stated Jeezy. “Don’t get me wrong – Hov, that’s my G. At the end of the day, I respect anything he do, but he’s a boss. He makes boss moves. But you have somebody like me and Pac, we’re always on the ground level trying to motivate and inspire the people with my music.”

Jeezy goes on to discuss the ongoing violence in cities like Chicago and how the young people in those communities do not have an “OG” who survived the streets to look to for guidance. The Atlantic Records A&R executive cites Jay Z as an example of someone the streets show love to for making it out.

“That’s why Brooklyn loves Hov so much. Everything he do is better than last time. He’s always moving in a forward motion. You always want to be around people that move in a forward motion,” said Jeezy. “Before I leave this game, I’m going to make sure I put my imprint down and let them know this is what you can be ten years out of the game.”

YG Could Be Facing Legal Action For Riot At Canadian Club

(AllHipHop News) Los Angeles rapper YG could be facing repercussions for jumping into the crowd at his concert in Edmonton over the weekend. According to TMZ, the Encore Club is considering taking legal action against YG for a melee breaking out during his show.

While performing at the Canadian venue, YG reportedly lost his voice almost immediately after beginning his set and was unable to continue. The crowd was not pleased and began throwing bottles at the stage.

The “Who Do You Love?” rapper responded by jumping into the audience. As a result, the concert was cut short as attendees began throwing more objects and club security got into physical confrontations with individuals at the scene.

A promoter stated that the club could lose its license because of the riot, and that is why a lawsuit against YG could be imminent.

Drake Shouts Out Kendrick Lamar At OVO Fest (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) When Drake recently announced that he and J. Cole were the “only two kings” in Hip Hop, some people took that as a slight toward another platinum selling rapper – Kendrick Lamar. Of course, Kendrick and Drake have a history of being both collaborators and competitors, but Drizzy made it clear during his OVO Fest performance that he sees K. Dot as rap royalty as well.

[ALSO READ: J. Cole Brings Out Kendrick Lamar & Drake During L.A. Tour Stop (VIDEO)]

“I want to shout out my n***a Kendrick Lamar,” said Drake as he stood next to Cole on stage. “Kendrick was on my album. We went on tour together. That’s one of the hardest n***as alive right there. He’s legendary, so shout out to him. He should be standing right there. There’s a lot of kings in this sh*t.”

Kendrick was a featured guest on Drake’s Take Care album, rapping on the track “Buried Alive Interlude.” Drake was also on Kendrick’s “Poetic Justice.” The two Hip Hop stars appeared together on A$AP Rocky’s “F**kin’ Problems” as well.

The media and the public began to question if there was tension between Drake and Kendrick after the TDE rhymer mentioned the YMCMB performer on his “Control” verse and hit him with a subliminal during his BET cypher performance. Drizzy then threw a few perceived shots back at K. Dot.

Drake has also praised Kendrick since the release of “Control.” He called Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city LP the last great concept album.

Nicki Minaj's 'The Other Woman' Hits DVD Amidst "Anaconda" Controversy

In between the booty cheek memes and amidst the “Anaconda” controversy, Nicki Minaj’s major debut as an actress in The Other Woman hit DVD this past week week – right on time.  Starring along side Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton, this movie is an all out chick flick with a slight Hip-Hop twist as Nicki tries her hand at the comedy/romance.

Fellas might otherwise pass this one up, but there is a Kate Upton beach running scene, and for you Giants fans, wide receiver Victor Cruz is also in the movie. So how does all this come together for one cohesive chick flick? Essentially, after Cameron Diaz finds out her boyfriend is married and has a mistress, she meets the wife and becomes friends with them both – (Leslie Mann) and the mistress (Kate Upton). When they find out that the guy is cheating on all three of them at the same time, it’s an all out chick flick explosion for revenge.

At the end of the day, you gotta give Nicki credit for getting her credits up because with the “Anaconda” art turning heads, you can’t help but wonder if she perfectly timed all of this. Cash Money and Young Money know a thing or two about timing and one would expect that given the “Anaconda” song release – planned or not – this movie has exceeded expectations grossing over $82 million to date.  Check out the movie clips below,  The Other Woman is now available on DVD.

Lil Kim Disses Nicki Minaj On Own Version Of "Flawless (Remix)"

(AllHipHop News) The Queen Bee is not done with her feud with Nicki Minaj. Lil Kim dropped her own lyrics on Beyoncé’s “Flawless (Remix)” with a few words aimed at her longtime rival.

[ALSO READ: Beyonce Drops “Flawless (Remix)” Featuring Nicki Minaj]

On the Nick/Bey version, the Young Money rapper refers to herself as “the queen of rap” and shouts out her collaborator Beyoncé aka “Queen Bey.”

Apparently, Kim took offense to Nicki claiming she is the ruler of female rap and also saw the “Queen Bey/Queen Bee” line as a diss.

“Am I tripping or did this ho just say my name?” Kim spits. “Queen of rap? F**k outta here. Queen’s back, f**k outta here. Time to get this wack b***h up outta here.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Busta Rhymes’ Swagger Wagon Has People Talking Again!

I almost was going to ask y’all “Fail or Win,” but I didn’t want Busta Rhymes twisting my neck off one day. The latest with the Dungeon Dragon is a bit more controversial than the fiasco at the BET Awards earlier this year. The rapper is apart of a weird Hip-Hop parody called “Swagger Wagon.” The song is somehow trying to redefine the station wagon, mini-van or something.

The Fire Challenge: Idiocy on Some Other…

________________

The views and opinions expressed herein are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of AllHipHop.com

_________________

By I’m not one of those old-head Negroes who think my generation of youngsters was better than the current generation of youngsters. I’m no prude! Hell, I’m still writing for hip-hop! We did silly s### as well, like “Streaking”—running bucket-naked across a football field to the delight of a cheering crowd—or egging someone’s crib who had offended our youthful sensibilities—or swimming in the canals of Miami, even though we were fully aware that alligators were in those murky waters.

But got damn! This new ignant craze of lighting one’s self on fire? Hold on! This is some idiocy on some other! I hate to even post this video of this ignant dread-head doing the Fire Challenge, but here it go!

Black people are forever doing things that hearkens back to that “Peculiar Institution” (a euphemism for slavery) and Jim Crow America. A few years ago blacks (and white people) were “Planking”—an eerily oversimplified game where youngsters were laying side-by-side on the floor, reminiscent of planks—boards on the slave ship. Indeed, many black folk cried foul and said the game was racist and that white folk were making fun of and exploiting black folk; that they were replaying the way Africans were packed in the hulls of slave ships like sardines. People were planking in Burger Kings, restaurants and grocery stores! What an effing game—creativity aside! I wrote on that s### too! (Checking out “Planking: Treading on “The Souls of Black Folk.”” on The Khalil Amani Reader: )

From there, here we are at the “Fire Challenge”—a game where young black men pour rubbing alcohol on themselves and set themselves ablaze! Smh. What kind of coonerific game do we have here? Like, we all know the end result! Do they think they are invincible against the raging heat that alcohol and fire produces? What’s the f###### point? Is it for the amusement of those trifling onlookers and Internet trolls voyeurs? Are they seeking some kind of fame from these flames this ignorance? I might be old, but I’ll be damned if this is a game I would’ve played as a young man!

This is what I pray; that any person who would defy the laws of fire receives the maximum burnage and subsequently dies! I need you to be the martyr for the Fire Challenge Movement so that this will cease immediately! I need that fire to give you—not first degree burns—not second degree burns—not third degree burns, but fourth degree burns—the kind of burns that extends through skin and into the underlying fat, muscle and bone! (And you n##### playing the “Breathing/Pass Out” game I hope you too, stop breathing so others won’t have to endure death as well!)

The fire challenge is only slightly amusing to those watching how the victim handles the heat and we all know the end result! Fire will have the toughest n#### screaming like a b#### and running for the shower, so why even play such a dangerous “game?” I’ve only seen one man handle fire without a peep and he was a Buddhist Monk who was set on fire while in a trace-like state in protest. He handled that fire with some unrealness!

None of you b####-ass n##### are built for a real “Fire Challenge,” so cut the shenanigans (in my Joseline Hernandez voice).

Now let’s go back in history for a moment. While these young black men are playing the “Fire Challenge” game let’s not forget about the thousands, yea, millions of black/Africans that were burned at the stake because of the color of their skin! And this is how we honor the Ancestors? If you asked any person participating in the Fire Challenge game they would say that this has nothing to do with slavery or their African ancestors. Of course! Willie Lynch in full effect! They haven’t a clue that this self-mutilation mentality was planted in the mind of the slaves on the banks of the James River in Virginia in 1712 by a cracka that was hell-bent on keeping slaves “slaves” even if freed—Willie “Muthafuckin” Lynch! Willie who? Yeah, right! Here it goes for you lazy Negroes. Willie Lynch letter: The Making of a Slave

White men have been burning up black people for over 400 years and this is the “game” you’ve come up with in 2014? F### outta here! You need your ass beat for playing it! Straight like that! Every time you play this “game” you’re s####### on the graves of untold Africans that were tortured, raped, lynched, burned at the stake, hung from trees and murdered in ways that your puny mind can never conceive! Don’t get it twisted and say the old fella is reaching. What you find flippantly funny I find sickening! Watching people burn in 2014 is that same amusement white men (who had no Internet!) leered at 50, 60, 70 years ago! Willie Lynch got you doing it to yourselves now.

But if 1712 is too far to reach back for your fragile imagination and you need an in-your-face, 2014 example on what fire can do to the human body, I’m sure my good friend, the “Dougie King” Kenny “Ken Dawg” Matthews would prolly have something to say about this ignant “game.” You might remember him from his Worldstarhiphop.com video. Dude was burned as a child from head to toe and struggles everyday with his disability—yeah; one of your hip-hop/black brothas—and this is how you’re acting? You don’ created a “game” with fire that has left millions of people like Kenny disabled and disfigured and you find entertainment in this?

(Follow Kenny on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook @ iKenDawg) Read his story “Dougie Dancer Ken Dawg: Beautifully Disfigured” on The Khalil Amani Reader:

Black youngsters! Stop this b#######! There are hundreds of “challenges” that you should be engaging in, like graduating from high school, getting a college degree, helping your family, quitting using and selling drugs, not getting preggos, fighting others for Worldstar amusement, reading books, etc. How about challenging yourself to not get caught up in any of society’s ills? How ‘bout dat! How about learning the difference between “your” and “you’re” while you’re all on these Internets exhibiting your ignorance? How about that? This “Fire Challenge” is idiocy on some other! Got dayum!
