Hip-Hop Rumors: Kanye West Stepping Away From Music?

If you’re expecting more new music from Kanye, think again.

According to Page Six, Yeezy has his eye on other ventures, like his budding clothing line.

“After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he’s going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,” said my source.

The sneakers West designed for Nike have become collectibles, selling for thousands of dollars, but West left Nike because he wasn’t making enough money.

“He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn’t had enough time to work on it,” said my source.”

Damn Ye, we know not very many can give you any advice, but can’t you maintain doing both?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jas Prince Still Suing Drake And Cash Money Records

Jas Prince filed suit against Cash Money, saying the company owed him millions of dollars after his company Young Empire Music Group discovered Drake and signed him to Aspire Music Group.

Once Cash Money wanted to sign Drizzy, it was agreed that they would pay a certain percentage of  Drake’s profits and advances to Prince, but according to him he saw none. The company did deposit $1 million into his bank account, but according to him he was owed a total of $5 million.

The Jasmine Brand reports:

“Lil Wayne’s record label Cash Money reportedly fired back at Jas Prince. They claimed the deal they made for Drake was signed by Aspire Music Group and they were to pay them the commissions NOT Jas or his company.

Then on November 21st, Jas headed to court to fire back at the excuses by Cash Money on them not paying him millions. Jas explains that Cash Money can’t say they have no obligation to pay him because they have sent him millions of dollars from Drake’s music royalties — proving they are fully aware they are to pay him the money made. In the court docs, he says that as of July 2013, Drake has pulled in a total of 84 MILLION DOLLARS — to which Cash Money has profited a total of 40 million from that income. Jas says that Cash Money would have NEVER seen that 40 million if it wasn’t for him bringing Drake to them.”

Stole his money and his girl…

Nappy Roots – "Facts"

For the 4th leak of the #somethingsgottagive series Nappy Roots delivers an introspective banger with the song “Facts”. With production handled by SMKA’s 808 Blake and Kato, the two producers build a haunting piano melody over hard hitting drums, which serves as the perfect canvas for Nappy Roots to deliver a thought provoking record.

Nappy Roots is in full album mode as their highly anticipated album with SMKA “The 40 Akerz Project” is set to drop in March of 2015. They will also be hitting the road on their nation-wide “Hazy Tour” at the top of the year with SMKA’s own 808 Blake as their DJ.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Networks Ban Waka Flocka Cough Drop Commercial

Last week during the AMA’s ABC aired a rather bizarre cough drop ad featuring Waka Flocka Flame.

Now I wasn’t sure if it was a joke or not, but apparently its real and major networks have already shut down airing the commercial, including NBC and CBS due to its apparent “controversial” drug references.

ABC has yet to comment. Wonder if VH1 will allow it to air in between Ratchet Love and Hip-Hop episodes. Watch the ad below and decide for yourself:

UMass-Amherst Has Asked Bill Cosby To Step Down As A Honorary Co-Chairman

Bill Cosby has lost an accolade because of his recent rape scandals.

It has been reported that the University of Masschusetts-Amherst has severed ties with the comedian over the slew of sexual assault allegations brought against him.

Cobsy was asked to step down as a honorary co-chairman of the school’s $300 million fundraising campaign and agreed.

“Bill Cosby has agreed to resign as an honorary co-chair of UMass Amherst’s capital campaign,” said Ed Blaguszewski, a spokesman for the school. “He no longer has any affiliation with the campaign nor does he serve in any other capacity for the university.”

Cosby earned his master’s and doctorate degree from the college during the 70s.

Though the 77-year-old has never been formally charged and prosecuted for these allegations, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley says that those accusations contradict the university’s efforts to prevent campus sexual assault. Coakley is the one who sent a letter to UMass requesting that they remove Cosby from their committee.

Seventeen women have accused Cosby of rape and sexual assault. A former NBC employee has also come forward saying that he delivered money to the women for Cosby to keep them quiet.

I memorized the wayward expressions
Never look down
Never let you see me down
I memorized the way no directions
Can I come over now
I’d like to stay a little while
I memorized your body exposed
I could f**k you all night long
From a memory alone

I never forget a face
Don’t go plastic on me
Nothing’s set in stone
You’re not dipped in gold
Dipped in gold
You can’t breathe if you’re dipped in gold
You are not on paper
You are not a copy
You’re so, you’re so..so thick, so thick

Michael Brown's Parents: Darren Wilson Knows He Was Wrong (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) One of the key moments that took place during the shooting of Michael Brown was what exactly were his actions after he ran away from Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson’s vehicle. Wilson claims Brown charged at him. Witnesses have stated that the teenager simply turned and put his hands in the air to signal he was surrendering.

Brown’s mother Lesley McSpadden did an interview with Charlie Rose, and she gave her opinion on what she believed took place on that Missouri street on August 9. McSpadden insists her son complied with the instructions given by officer Wilson.

“I believe that [Wilson] asked my son to stop, and I believe that’s what he did. He stopped, and he turned around to get down on his knees like the officer asked him,” said McSpadden. “I believe he was shot close up, and I don’t think my son was lunging at him in any kind of way.”

Both McSpadden and Brown’s father Michael Brown Sr both added they felt Wilson gave inaccurate details about the encounter to cover up his wrongdoing. A grand jury decided not to indict Wilson on any charges related to the shooting of Brown. During an interview with George Stephanopoulos, Wilson expressed that he would not have done anything different in that situation.

“He knows he was wrong for what he done,” stated Brown Sr.

Like he mentioned in the post, Tyler has been a very vocal champion of Slim Shady throughout his career. The “Yonkers” performer called Eminem’s Relapse one of his favorite albums. He even opened for Em at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.

The Detroit emcee has expressed his appreciation for Tyler and OF too. Em spoke about the California collective with MTV’s Sway Calloway in 2011.

“I think that from the stuff that I’ve heard – I haven’t heard a lot from them, I still have to go check out everything that they’re doing, but I’ve heard enough to know that it feels like they’re pushing boundaries and buttons, and that’s definitely one of the things that I’m familiar with, especially when I first came out,” said Em. “I love it. I love the fact that they’re doing that. And the dudes can rhyme.”

Killer Mike Explains Why He Feels "Our Skin Is A Scarlet Letter" (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) The video of Killer Mike’s passionate speech about his reaction to the Ferguson grand jury’s decision to not indict officer Darren Wilson for the death of Michael Brown went viral almost instantly. During the on stage address, the Atlanta rapper shared he is fearful for his children and referred to the current state of social affairs “us against the machine.”

[ALSO READ: Killer Mike Addresses No Indictment Of Officer Darren Wilson During Concert (VIDEO)]

Killer Mike went into further detail about his response to Wilson not facing criminal charges in an interview with Tom Power. The Run The Jewels member shared what happened for him the moment he heard prosecutor Bob McCulloch reveal Wilson will not be arrested. He compared having to speak on the death of Brown with his children to his grandparents having to speak with him on the killing of 14-year-old Emmett Till in 1955.

The creator of the critical acclaimed album R.A.P. Music spoke on the need for racism, poverty, militarization, and the prison-industrial complex to be confronted as well. He also expressed his belief that the African-American community is just as valuable to the American system as any other race and what he sees as being the burden of being Black in this country.

In a portion of the Q&A, Mike said:

We’re not a bad people. We’re the same as any other community. We love one another. We do stupid things. We’re humans. We’re just human beings. To live in a country in which – the legacy is we were brought here. And since we’ve been brought to this country, we’ve been nothing but good for this country. Economically, it was built on the back of slavery. Civil Rights not only helped us, it helped push along women’s rights. It helped open up rights for immigrants that were there. To this day, African-Americans are fighting on behalf of legal and illegal immigrants.

There’s never been a time in American history from the day Crispus Attucks was one of the first person killed in the American Revolutionary War to right now – there’s never been a time in this country that Blacks have not been a positive contribution to this country. Even with that said, our skin is a scarlet letter. And that is just a tremendous burden to have to bear. It adds so much stress and anxiety to your regular life that you’re always tuned into a frequency that you don’t necessarily want to be a part of. It’s paranoia and fear, not only about the general world, but even about the people who run the municipalities that are over your life.
