Kanye West Wins Round 1 Against "Coinye" Bitcoin But The Fight May Not Be Over

(AllHipHop News) The first step in Kanye West’s legal battle against the bitcoin cyrptocurrency using his likeness is over. According to Billboard, the Hip Hop superstar has successfully forced some of the creators of “Coinye” to halt their plans of dispersing the digital money.

West sent a cease-and-desist letter to seven anonymous coders and filed a trademark-infringement lawsuit in January. The currency was temporarily shut down. When the Coinye creators simply changed their logo, the Chicago native updated his suit to include over 100 defendants. Most of the people in the lawsuit were listed as “John/Jane Does.”

This week a few of the named defendants lost the case by default, because they failed to respond. Named defendants Richard McCord, David McEnery and Harry Willis settled with the Yeezus rapper.

While this is a victory for West, Hypebot reports the win in U.S. District Court may not have permanently killed the Coinye phenomenon. Other brands sporting the Kanye-inspired name are still active including coinyecoin.org and coinyethecoin.com. The latter site features the tagline, “When they tell you to cease and desist, increase and resist!”

Drake Breaks Another Billboard Chart Record

(AllHipHop News) Drake has only been a major player in the game for about five years, but the Young Money performer already has a few chart records on his resume. This week Drizzy adds another career highlight thanks to his featured appearance on Lil Wayne’s “Believe Me.”

Billboard is reporting the Vinlyz and Boi-1da produced track took over the top spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. This gives Drake his 14th number one song on the tally. His 2013 Nothing Was The Same single “Hold On, We’re Going Home” put him in a tie at 13 with R&B veteran Usher.

“Believe Me” is also the leader on the Rap Airplay chart. The single from Wayne’s forthcoming Tha Carter V album is currently sitting at number 37 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It peaked at the 27th position.

Drake previously took over the records for most #1s on the Hot Rap Songs chart and most #1s by a rapper on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Joe Budden & Ransom Reunite For "Vietnam"

(AllHipHop News) After years of feuding, New Jersey emcees Joe Budden and Ransom put aside their differences recently in order to collaborate on new music. Tsu Surf, another Jersey representative, hinted on Instagram the joint effort was coming, and now the track “Vietnam” featuring Ransom and Budden has been released.

NY02 Is Announced As The "Official Water" Of Jay Z's Roc Nation

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z once went to Africa to give clean water to deprived individuals, now he’s back in the water business somewhat.

Today (July 28th), premium bottled water supplier NY02 was named the official water of Roc Nation. As a part of the agreement, NY02 will be provide water for all Roc Nation-affiliated tours, marketing campaigns with Roc Nation artists as well as being the featured, branded water at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club.

In a press release, NY02 President Elias Slubski stated their partnership with Roc Nation has the potential to “can thrust American premium bottled water onto a beverage marketing platform that is higher than New York’s Empire State Building”.

Jeezy Says He Doesn't Know What The Illuminati Is, Talks Def Jam Problems + More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Either the Illuminati have one of those Men In Black mind erasers or Jeezy is out of the loop. During a recent interview, Jeezy addressed rumors of his affiliation with the Illuminati following his Seen It All album cover, problems with Def Jam and more.

Back in November 2013, Jeezy sent a message to his personal Twitter account threatening to leak his new album if “Def Jam don’t get it right.” On his song “Me Ok”, Jeezy, whom is also the Senior V&P at Atlantic Records, rapped “might just drop my next album on Atlantic. Before stating that his album “was getting released even without a release date” in his interview with Power 99’s Mina SayWhat, Jeezy explains why he publicly voiced his displeasure with Def Jam:

At the time, I felt like they weren’t seeing my vision. It’s jus tlike a girl. Def Jam is a great building, a lot of things changed, but I became frustrated with the situation. But, I’m a businessman so I had to put that out there. But, it’s like my girl, ‘you keep playing I’m going to get me another chick.

Jeezy’s cover art for Seen It All contains a shield surrounding the eye in the pyramid that is commonly seen on the back of the dollar bill. Jeezy immediately dismisses Illuminati references:

Do not get art and creativity confused with ignorance. I am a hard working, God fearing man. I have no idea what an Illuminati is. Really [I] dont give a damn because it has nothing to do with me.

Timbaland: My Next Album Will Show Why "I'm The Greatest Who Ever Did It"

(AllHipHop News) Greatest of all time talk usually falls on deaf ears unless the person who is speaking has a reputation that precedes them. During a recent interview, the 15+ year veteran producer Timbaland explained how his upcoming album could be his last, his “Purple Rain”and evidence that he is “the greatest who ever did it.”

While there is no release date for his fourth solo album entitled Opera Noir, Timbaland explains to Rolling Stone that it will be his “grand finale” and “my Purple Rain”. After stating that there will be no features on this album, Timbaland explained why this album will prove he’s “the greatest who ever did it”:

Yeah, this is my Purple Rain solo album that I’m going to put out. I have no features on it. It’s called Opera Noir and it’s the most innovative work I’ve ever done. It’s all about truth and what’s going on around us. It’s about my personal truth: It’s one of the things that MediaTakeOut will care about, but I’m telling you what happened. I’m telling you: At this point, this happened. I’m telling you at this date, I’m telling you that I did this. I’m telling you that she did this or he did that.

Timbaland’s last solo project, 2009’s Shock Value II featured 22 different artists and sold under 38,000 copies in its opening week.

(AllHipHop News) Since the launch of Roc Nation Sports, Jay Z has been doing more than making the Yankee hat more famous. Earlier today (July 28th), New York Yankees pitcher, CC Sabathia had his first radio interview and discussed signing to Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, Derek Jeter retiring and more.

On January 17th, 2014, CC Sabthia became the first pitcher signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports and, at the time, the second Yankee player joining his former teammate Robinson Cano. According to Sabathia, even Jay Z’s current On The Run tour does not deter him from assuming his responsibilities as Roc Nation Sports founder:

He’s on tour doing his thing, but he always gives us support and whatever we need. So, it’s great being a part of that family. I’m glad I signed with Roc Nation.

On July 18th, CC Sabathia was deemed out for the rest of the season due to him undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery today which will take 6-8 weeks of recovery. Sabathia spoke on being physically unable to perform during Derek Jeter’s final season:

Me and Jeter have been close ever since I got here. Honestly, in the recruiting process of me coming here he was big into that. So, it’s tough not being there and just not hanging out. This will be the last time we ever get to hangout like that. I’m saying, during the season you’re with guys every day, you know, 6-8 months.

Hip-Hop Rumors: A New Beef For French Montana?

French Montana is on a roll and he doesn’t seem to be stopping soon. He’s even got the Kardashian to match. However, there may be some beef lurking for him. At least there seems to be some annoyances. Apparently, Royal Flush, the Queens rapper, isn’t so pleased that French jacked his 90’s#### “Worldwide.” French and producer Harry Fraud joined forces on this and other songs with a similar M.O. Yesterday, Royal Flush played at the Lincoln Park Music Festival and he briefly called French Montana out. He didn’t say too much, before he was cut off on stage by Tragedy Khadafi, I was told. But, He definitely called French out though. But this isn’t the first time this has happened, because they have sampled a few 90’s rappers. Remember, Doitall from the Lords of the Underground also had an issue with French using their song “Funky Child.” I think they deaded that lil situation. Anyway, maybe French cares – maybe not. Either way, “I’m A Coke Boy” came out in 2012. I think its time for Royal Flush to drop something new.

YG Explains Why Hip Hop Belongs To The West, How His Friends Almost Killed Him + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) From making a song named “My N*gga” a #1 hit to an impressive My Krazy Life debut album, YG has proven to live an unconventional life. During a recent interview, the West Coast MC explains how his and other MC’s success

YG’s My Krazy Life is littered with vivid tales of him breaking into people’s homes, witnessing murder and the types of stories that would inspire a Boyz In The Hood sequel. According to YG in his interview with Montreality, his wild past got so intertangled that he once died at the hands of his friends over a misunderstanding:

Homie start shooting, because something happened. Then they start popping back. So I hop in the homie’s ear, I’m right on the side of him, I’m like ‘shoot n*gga.’ I’m like ‘pop that n*gga.’ He start popping again. I’m like ‘keep shooting’, he keep shooting. Come to find out, we walk back in the house, the cars drive off, but the homies called us like ‘y’all n*ggas is shooting at us.’

YG also claims his debut album is a “classic album that nobody expected.” With his sudden rise to fame and other west coast MC’s such as Nipsey Hussle and Kendrick Lamar showing commercial and independent success, YG feels inclined to believe that the center of Hip Hop these days is on the left coast:

[Nipsey Hussle] put out a mixtape for free or you can buy it for $100. He made a motherfu*ken statement. N*ggas on the West Coast are making statements. I came out with a classic album that nobody expected. Kendrick [Lamar] came out, his sh*t went platinum. [DJ] Mustard is producer of the motherfu*cken..for years. You got n*gas like Dom Kennedy on his independent grind, getting this money. West Coast, we got it.

Dear  Mr.  Mcgruder,

Without a doubt, you are one of the most brilliant satirists that the black community has ever produced. The first season of your Boondocks series was pure genius and the creation of the militant, socially conscious  “Huey Freeman” character was  instrumental in raising the consciousness level of many African Americans, especially those with short attention spans or weak bladders who could never sit through a two hour -plus black history documentary like “Hidden Colors” but would watch a 30 minute cartoon. Your impact was especially felt during this season’s Boondocks, as your departure has left the show extremely lacking in the social relevance department. However, I am concerned about your latest venture on the Adult Swim Network, Black Jesus,  that preaches a ghettoized gospel to your former Boondocks congregation. I don’t find a Messiah that turns water into malt liquor entertaining. Of course there will be many people who will find Black Jesus hilarious, especially Adult Swim’s predominately white audience.  So the fact that many people will find humor in the comedy  is not up for discussion. After all, many white folks thought that lynchings were pretty funny… But I digress. I have read that some white Christian groups are protesting the show. Let’s not get it twisted. I couldn’t care less what the white Evangelical Right Wing thinks about the show. In my opinion, the only thing worst than a black Jesus that endorses drinkin’ and smokin’ is a white Jesus that endorses slavery. I am concerned about  black people, especially black children. The image of a “Black Messiah” has always been controversial in this country. Since the inception of the Black Theology movement over 150 years ago by people like Bishop Henry McNeal Turner, there have only been a handful of black images of Yeshua. ( Jesus was just his proverbial slave name) Unfortunately, since your new character is already  the most widespread image ever, when my grandchildren google “Black Jesus” years from now the image that will pops up will not be Yeshua feeding the multitudes but your lead character ,Gerald “Slink” Johnson,  puffin’ on a blunt. You have the opportunity to go down in history as one of our greatest  thinkers who, at a critical moment in time,  had the courage to speak truth to power. I would hate to see you go the route of so many of our biggest and brightest (cough..Kanye West) and become dumbed down to nothing more than a lawn jockey on the  front yard of Ted Turner’s plantation. I am clear that if you weren’t producing  the program, the powers that be would just find someone else to accept the blood money. So, the focus should not be on the “Judas” but those who paid him the 30 pieces of silver to sell the Messiah out.

I was watching the controversial, “Hunger Strike” episode of The Boondocks earlier today , where  “Huey Freeman” went to war against  Black Entertainment Television for plotting to destroy the black community via it’s questionable programming. Are you holding the Adult Swim/Comedy Network to a different standard?

There is an old cliche that asks, “what would Jesus do?” I ask you, sir, in the case of Black Jesus, “what would Huey do?”

Aretha Franklin Denied A Seat By "Unprofessional and Nasty" Johnny Rockets Employee

(AllHipHop News) Aretha Franklin is a legendary soul singer for over 50 years, but that does not necessarily mean everyone knows that. Franklin released a statement recently deriding Johnny Rockets for an employees denial of seating Franklin due to a technicality.

Last Tuesday (July 22nd), Aretha Franklin performed a sold out show at Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater inSt, Lewiston, NY as apart of First Niagara Bank’s Tuesdays In The Park.  According to Franklin’s statement, the singer dined at Johnny Rockets in Niagara Falls, Ont.following the show and was informed by a female employee “you can’t sit here because you ordered for takeout.” Franklin did not take kindly to the treatment:

The woman was very rude, unprofessional and nasty – certainly not the appropriate face for Johnny Rockets. No one should be addressed this way, whether a celebrity or not. I told her she can eat and pay for my meal, and left.

A spokeswoman for Johnny Rockets issued an apology for the new and very young employee” in addition to instructing the employee on the takeout policy. While Franklin’s agent David Brokaw states the singer wishes the apology was delivered to Franklin personally, her statement does not rule out Franklin visiting the establishment in the future:

This experience in Niagara Falls will not stop my enjoyment of burgers and cherry Cokes, and talking to the classy and friendly people at Johnny Rockets.
