(AllHipHop News) Ever since last year’s big debate over New York City radio’s apparent support of local acts, the dialogue has not ceased but intensified. Yesterday (December 11th), Talib spoke with SOHH sided with Trinidad James’ sentiments on New York City radio.
While not explicitly supporting James’ “South runs NY” comments, the veteran MC does perceive James’ statement as a commentary on the state of New York City radio:
Trinidad James is right, when you listen to New York radio, New York radio does not support New York music. That’s what he was speaking to.
Kweli also states that Maino, a vocal detractor of James’ comments, does not solely make New York Hip Hop but also “does music down South too.” An added reason why Kweli is sharing James’ comments is the fact that he himself made similar statements on his personal Twitter account and was criticized for them. The criticism Kweli may be referring to is that from Hot 97’s Program Director Ebro Darden who responded to Kweli’s comments three hours after the article was published:
If u say NY radio doesn’t support you the week ya album comes out that’s “trolling” … When we have & do, just ask for promo @TalibKweli
— Ebro el Viejo (@oldmanebro) December 11, 2013
Kweli has since asked to thoroughly discuss his comments and Ebro Darden’s “troll” accusations with the Hot 97 Program Director either on air on Twitter:
@oldmanebro we can talk on hot or on twitter just to prove I dont need to ask for radio promo. But u gonna have to qualify that statement.

Talib Kweli’s sixth solo album Gravitas, will be released this Sunday (December 15th).
Some people have absolutely no chill.
South African police say Desmond Tutu’s Cape Town home was robbed while he was attending a memorial in honor of Nelson Mandela (in Soweto Township of Johannesburg), according to the Associated Press. The robbery took place on Tuesday between 7pm and 9pm while Tutu was in Soweto township of Johannesburg.
Authorities say the investigation is on going and that no arrests have been made.
The 82-year-old Tutu had his home robbed in August as he and his wife slept inside but both were unharmed.
Apparently, burglaries and home-invasions happen a lot in South Africa.
Well, damn.
Every now and then the Bad Girls Club branches out beyond LA and experiments with other cities. They’ve done New Orleans, Miami twice and Cancun but word on the street is, Chicago is the next hot spot. I overheard rumors that the girls lived in up in Highland Park, an upscale suburb located just outside the city and that they terrorized Chi streets (the good parts where they won’t get mirked, that is) the entire summer.
Residents weren’t too thrilled but it allegedly still went down anyway. I’m even being told that there’s a wannabe Tanisha (except she’s from the South) in the bunch.
(AllHipHop News) Oprah Winfrey has amassed a $2.9 billion fortune, had a nationally syndicated talk show last for 25 years and basically has it all, except children. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the iconic mogul explains how her ambition prevented her from having children.
Oprah admits that while her best friend and mother of two Gayle King was picking the names of her future children, she was having “daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King.” This unwavering passion and her subsequent decades of success are the primary reasons Oprah has never had children:
They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.
Today (December 12th), the full list of nominees for the 71st annual Golden Globes were announced and surprisingly Lee Daniels’ The Butler was completely shut out. The Hollywood Reporter interview happened months before the nominations were announced, however Oprah sensed Hollywood was still not keen to her even after her critically acclaimed performance in The Butler:
That’s the reality of being 59 and female, not to mention a woman of color.
The 71st annual Golden Globes will take place on January 12th.

A Ghanaian man found himself in a sucky situation (pun intended) when a “b######## snake” bit the tip of his penis on a public toilet Wednesday.
Via the Huffington Post:
Kwabena Nkrumah, 34, said the pain was intense, and that he ran out of the public toilet screaming, “Snake! Snake! Snake!” which in turn caused others using the facilities to panic and flee, according to Ghanaweb.com.
Nkrumah told a local radio program that he thought that the pain on his penis was normal, until he looked down and saw the snake.
The public toilet was reportedly “in a deplorable state,” even without the snake problem.
Although this story is a rare exception, snake bites don’t usually make the news. Men who bite snakes, on the other hand, can be pretty memorable.
So, a snake wanted some of that snake…sorry, couldn’t resist. The real question is, why the hell was there a snake in a public restroom?!
There are a a lot of great disappointments in life. There are too many too name. From the Hip-Hop side of life, they are bountiful as well. Looks like we’ll never get to hear a J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar joint album now. Not like this is a shocker, but the word is J. Cole is seething mad at Kendrick Lamar. At first, it was assumed or inferred that Cole World was almost unfazed by Kendrick’s move. Not true. Inside sources are suggesting that Cole has allowed Kendrick’s “moment” to pass and he’s now going to parlay it to serve his career needs. The crazy thing is Kendrick’s movement is strong, all the way down to the industry side. He’s got people protecting him even after he disses people. Remember that Fab diss of Kendrick he recorded? No? That’s right. The big wigs stopped it from coming. And Budden did release a response, but it didn’t have any darts in it. At any rate, it looks like Kendrick might be close to entering into a “Cole War,” based on the indicators in the rumor mill.
Oh and there’s this too.
Cole to the rescue, never save a ho
Hoes like to hide their behavior though
Thought you was a down a$$ b####
‘Til I found that s**t a couple days ago
I was home alone, next thing I know
That long as verse from a song called “Control” was on
The room got nearer, the tomb got clearer
That’s when I seen the s**t playin’ on your phone
Girl, what is that? A ringtone?
S###, not you too
Man, that hype done got you too
Everybody and their momma gassed,
Even my momma asked what I’mma do
Decisions, decisions
In case this is war, then I load up on all ammunition
If a ni**a want problems, my trigger’s on auto
I’ll make sure that nobody miss him
Now pack up your s**t, you don’t believe in me
I don’t need you, I got me, b***h
Same n#### moved to NYC, b***h
Got a record deal and a college degree, b***h
Two gold plaques, I produced all the tracks
And I never ever ever leave no Jay Z, b***h
And after all that achievement
Real n***a never even went and got his teeth fixed
Now you try to play me, b***h?
I’ll knock your a$$ out
A bit late…but this could be a long lasting feud.
