SOLD: The L.A. Clippers Have A New Owner

(AllHipHop News) The former CEO of Microsoft Steve Ballmer has seemingly become the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Ballmer has submitted a $2 billion offer to buy the team, a record bid for an NBA team.

The the business man’s bid bested Oprah Winfrey, David Geffen, Larry Ellison and others looking to purchase the basketball franchise.

Only the $2.1 billion Magic Johnson and The Guggenheim Partners paid for the Los Angeles Dodgers tops Ballmer’s offer.

Donald Sterling recently signed a letter to give him wife authorization to field offers for the team and she has accepted this bid, reports the Los Angeles Times. Sterling, who was decimated in the court of public opinion for racist comments, has to agree for the sale to be finalized. Previously, he has vowed not to sell at all.

Ballmer lives in Seattle, but has promised to keep The Clippers in Los Angeles. He is worth $20 billion.

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Set Instagram Record

(AllHipHop News) The most talked about wedding of the year also produced the most liked Instagram photo of all time. According to People, the pic of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian sealing their marriage with kiss has received more likes on the social media site than any other picture.

The pic was uploaded to Kardashian’s IG account on Tuesday and has since garnered over 1.95 million likes. The previous record holder was another celebrity couple. Justin Bieber posted a picture of him and Selena Gomez five months ago that racked up 1.82 million likes.

In case you’re wondering, the most liked Facebook picture in history – with over 4 million “thumbs up” – is the photo of President Barack Obama hugging his wife Michelle after his 2012 election victory. That snapshot was also the most tweeted pictured on Twitter until Ellen DeGeneres’ super celebrity selfie from this year’s Academy Awards totaled 3.4 million retweets.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Does Nas Have A Comic Book?

STRAIGHT FROM MARVEL COMICS – THIS IS FALSE!

-OH WELL!

A picture of Nas is in circulation on the internet. It is starting rumors.

There no mystery that Nas has seriously bossed up in the last few years with his business ventures. But this one could take it all over the top if it should come true. The internets are talking that Nas is working on a comic book with Marvel Entertainment. I honestly don’t know what this could truly be.

I dunno. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

“I’m beautiful and allegedly deadly.”

When will these stupid people learn? Da Brat may not be stupid, but she did something stupid. And that was cracking a woman in the head with a bottle. Well, here is the BS. Shay Johnson aka “Buckeey” from Flavor of Love (back in the day) now has allegedly done the same damn thing. She’s now a staple on “Love And Hip-Hop Atlanta,” but I ain’t watched in a long time. There is a video of the situation and it doesn’t seem like the bottle broke, because you here a “BONG” but no class breaking. And after that “bong,” somebody yells in pain. Then, the fight began. I don’t know why women with these gigantic weaves don’t learn judo something because JUDO KNOW what can happen. They go for that weave. Anyway, the bottle didn’t break but skin reportedly did and the women has pressed charges in the incident that allegedly happened in February.

Here is a video of the alleged incident!

911 Call Reveals Maya Angelou Did Not Want CPR If She Died (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) Maya Angelou was always a woman who did things on her own terms. In a recently leaked 911 call from one of Angelou’s caregivers reveals that the late poet legend ordered her staff to not resuscitate her in the event that she passed.

Maya Angelou was found unconscious in her Winston-Salem, N.C. home by one of her caregivers yesterday (May 28th). When the 911 operator attempted to walk the caregiver through the steps to perform CPR on the unconscious Angelou, the caregiver explained how that would be in direct conflict with the late poet’s wishes.

Manny Fresh Talks Not Sequencing "400 Degreez", Previews New Song W/ Mos Def + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Mannie Fresh is one of the most accomplished music producers of the past 15 years and claims to have over 200 songs in the stash. In his recent interview with NPR’s Mircophone Check, the self-proclaimed “Manny Glover” speaks on not sequencing Juvenile’s first album, recording with Mos Def and more.

After naming Juvenile’s album 400 Degereez was the best representation of Mannie Fresh’s signature sound, Mannie revealed how there was no sequencing involved in the making of the album. According to Fresh, the recording session were reminiscent of old Motown sessions of the 70s:

Pretty much like if it was an old Marvin Gaye/Motown session. We pretty much had a count-off and we played. We played for however many bars that song was. Juvie rapped those songs next to use while we were playing. On some of the songs, you can kind of hear where it’s 14 bars in his rap instead of 16 so we had to improvise to make the hook work.

Mannie Fresh admits that Mos Def’s recording process is “weird” but they are finishing up the upcoming collaborative album OMFGOD. Detailing their recording process, Fresh admits that recording with Mos Def involves lectures:

We have to listen to him talk, for about two or three hours about life. [Laughs] We got to let him get it all out. He has to give us all of his conspiracy theories and all of that and all of this. Then we like, “ok, dude, you good? You ready?” He’s like, ‘Okay, I’m ready.”

Fresh previewed a new song from their upcoming album, entitled “Let’s Go” that features. Speaking about the influence of technology on music production, Fresh says it has caused a rift between “producers” and “beatmakers”:

When you have something do it for you. It’s nothing wrong with saying ‘ok, I can get an app or a plug-in that’s an 808 plug-in. But, when I buy something and it can, I guess, imitate and emulate the beat, then I’m not really working. You have things now that you can buy that pretty much have chords in it. That have  piano patterns in it. Well, why do I have to work? That’s why we have to define things between ‘beatmakers’ and ‘producers’.

Jimmy Iovine Explains Dr. Dre and His Roles At Apple, Says Spotify Should Be Bigger

(AllHipHop News) Jimmy Iovine was the Chairman of Interscope Records through every single significant rap rivalry since 1990 and is well accustomed to competitive marketing. During last night’s Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Iovine took a shot at competing streaming service Spotify’s current popularity.

Spotify debuted in the United States in July 2011 and has since garnered 10 million paying subscribes globally. However, the streaming service has only been able to garner 3 million paying subscribers in the United States after three years. According to Iovine ““Spotify should have 10 million people in America”, even with Beats Music reportedly struggling to gain subscribers.

Beats Music debuted in January of 2014 and in its first 100 days was reported to have accumulated a paying subscriber base “in the low six-figures”. Comparatively, Spotify attracted roughly 600,000 paid subscribers in United States in its first year. Iovine used his history in the music industry to explain why Beats’ slow popularity growth is not that big of a problem:

When you’re making music, you don’t look at what’s going on in the studio next to you. We run our race. We market our race.

After claiming tha Beats spent “zero dollars” on marketing in the first three years, relying solely on media attention, Iovine stated him and Dr “knew how to harness the media.” Besides vaguely explaining his and Dre’s role at Apple, he does explain why the two chose to work with the tech giant:

[Me and Dr. Dre] met with the guys, and what we realized is they get it. They have feel. They understand culture.

Apple is set to hold an event at the Worldwide Developers Conference this Monday (June 2nd). Check out Beats by Dre and Apple’s first advertisement below:
