Mack Maine: Lil Wayne Has Not Signed A Gay Rapper To Young Money

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne has no problem signing a gay rapper, but that does not necessarily mean he already has made that signing. According to Young Money President Mack Maine, the rumors of Lil Wayne signing an openly gay rapper are false.

Rumors recently spread that Lil Wayne signed openly gay rapper Fly Young Red last Friday (April 4th) after 24hourhiphop.com reported that Lil Wayne announced signing Red. According to a quote obtained by the site, the rapper’s sexual orientation had no factor on his decision to sign him:

Gay, straight, black, white, blue or purple. Good music is just good music. Have you ever been in the club when that joint came on? ni**as go crazy when that drop. I had to make him YMCMB [Young Money Cash Money Billionaires].

The site also posted a quote purportedly from Birdman cosigning Wayne’s decision:

I support everything my young’n do. Young’n brought Red into the boardroom, we met behind closed doors, we spoke like men, we handled business like bosses. We ended up making him a offer he couldn’t refuse. It’s YMCMB forever, ya dig? We support Red movement and what he tryna accomplish. We definitely support the movement.

However, Mack Maine went to his personal Twitter account to dispel the rumors:

Boston Red Sox David Ortiz Asks Drake “Can I Get In The Studio And Drop A Few Ad-libs?”(VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) David Ortiz has three World Series championships, one of the greatest post season careers statistically and tens of millions of dollars in salary and endorsement income. However, the Boston Red Sox’s slugger asked Drake to grant him something he has never been able to attain.

Appearing on MTV’s Off The Bat From The MLB Fan Cave, Ortiz explains to Drake how his “Started From The Bottom” song was the Boston Red Sox’s theme song. Later, Ortiz makes a request to Drake that would begin his music career:

I really like when you say ‘now my whole crew f*cking here.’ Anyway, the reason I am writing you is to say, when you write the next anthem for Red Sox Nation, can I get in the studio and drop a few adlibs?

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Want YouTube Founder To Pay For Stalling Court Case

(AllHipHop News) The ongoing legal battle between celebrity couple Kanye West/Kim Kardashian and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley has entered another phase. Radar Online reports Ye and Kim K are now asking a judge to order Hurler to pay $6,650 in legal fees for attempting to stall the case.

West and fiancée Kardashian accuse Hurley of breaking a confidential agreement by leaking footage of their wedding engagement. The two stars sued Hurley last year and claim he has not complied with the pre-trial portion of the case including refusing to turn over 124 documents requested by West’s attorneys.

Hurley had asked a judge to throw the case out on the grounds that releasing the video is protected by his First Amendment right of freedom of speech and the fact that the plaintiffs have not sued other media outlets that posted the video.

“60 Minutes” Poll Claims Jazz Is More Important Than Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) Any true student of the history of Hip Hop knows that the genre is essentially a cousin of Jazz. Both musical styles were born out of African-American youth culture and both include similar elements like improvisation or freestyling.

But according to a poll conducted by 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair, Jazz is seen as “more important” than Hip Hop.

It should be noted the CBS news program and pop culture magazine do not share the demographics of those surveyed, but the answers somewhat shed a light on certain Americans’ thoughts about music (or at least those Americans that watch 60 Minutes and read Vanity Fair).

According to the poll, 73% of those who answered feel jazz is a more important type of American music compared to 19% who selected Hip Hop. A majority – 50%  – also said Hip Hop has reached its peak. Country totaled 20%, Rock 10%, Pop 9%, and R&B 7% in that tally.

Jazz vs Hip Hop

Also, 42% chose this decade’s music as the worst, and when asked to select which artist they would like to see their child study 33% picked The Beatles, 32% picked Mozart, 14% picked Michael Jackson, 9% picked Billie Holiday, and 5% picked Jay Z.

While the 60 Minutes poll separates Jazz and Hip Hop, many acts including A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Robert Glasper, and Kris Bowers have blended the two styles together.

Comedian Joe Mande Calls Macklemore’s “Same Love” Corny & Manipulative

(AllHipHop News) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ hit single “Same Love” garnered the praise of many pro-gay marriage advocates, but one supporter of same-sex marriage was not a fan of the track.

Parks And Recreation writer and stand-up comedian Joe Mande spoke with The A.V. Club on why he hates Macklemore’s song. After first stating that he believes “homosexuals deserve equal rights in every aspect of human life,” Mande goes on to explain why he picked “Same Love” for AVC’s “HateSong” feature.

Mande said:

I just think it’s a corny song. I said something to that effect a while ago and then a bunch of people on Twitter—his Shark Face Gang, which is what they call his fans—started attacking me, calling me a bigot and a homophobe. It’s so funny to me how close-minded Macklemore fans can be. They couldn’t understand how someone could agree with someone politically and also think he’s super corny…

I think it’s pandering and it’s sort of manipulative. I think he also is so self satisfied; there’s a gross element of that. He’s super corny, but it’s also a corny song and it’s being devoured by corny white kids who like don’t even listen to hip-hop and already believe in gay marriage, so he’s preaching to the choir, to kids in high school who are in the choir. I know it’s well intentioned and I agree with the sentiment of the song, but I feel the same way about that song that I feel about Bill Maher. I agree with what he’s saying. I just hate how he’s saying it…

He puts himself up on this pedestal like he’s the first rapper to be open-minded and that’s not true at all…

Another problematic part of the song is that, for being this anthem, he spends the first third of the song reiterating how straight he is. Like when he was a kid, he was worried that he was gay because he liked to draw, which isn’t even a stereotype… Just write a song about gay marriage; you don’t have to bring your insecurity or cross-hatching as a kid into it. It can be personal if you’re gay. But if you’re not gay, just say you believe in gay marriage. I feel bad for gay people that they had to adopt this song as an anthem.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Hmmmmm…Weird Rumors Saying Kanye Needs Money

Why are they talking slanderous about the homey Kanye West?

The most recent sh#t is that Kanye to the West is in a bit of a cash crunch. The rhetoric goes as follows:

Look for this A list couple who I can’t stand to have to sell their home. Oh yes, they will say they decided to live somewhere else, but the reality is he is having some cash flow issues and needs to sell the house as soon as it is finished. He hopes he can make it that long anyway.

In this report they assume its “Kanye to the” but they never say the name and that’s where I draw the line. I cannot co-sign this malarkey!

Anyway, people are saying its talking about Kimye, but that’s them.

“They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!” -illseed.

Besides acting Williams is also an accomplished musician and author. His last album was 2011’s Volcanic Sunlight. He has also worked with artists like Nas and Janelle Monáe, and Williams appeared on the Lyricist Lounge, Volume One compilation in 1998.

Other acts named to the principal cast of Holler If Ya Hear Me include Tonya Pinkins (Jelly’s Last Jam), Christopher Jackson (In the Heights), Saycon Sengbloh (Motown: The Musical), Ben Thompson (American Idiot), John Earl Jelks (Gem of the Ocean), Joshua Boone, and Dyllon Burnside.

Leon is directing the musical about two childhood friends and their struggles living in urban America. Tupac’s music and lyrics were used as inspiration for the story. It is not a biography of the iconic rapper.

The play was written by Todd Kreidler and choreographed by Wayne Cilento. Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur is a producer.

Holler If Ya Hear Me previews at New York City’s Palace Theatre on May 26th, and officially opens on June 19th.
