(AllHipHop News) The Miami Heat and Hip Hop have a strange relationships. Proud Floridian transplants Birdman and Lil Wayne have openly stated their dislike of how some of the team’s players have treated them and even partied with the Dallas Maverick in Miami’s Club Liv after they beat the Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals. However, this time it is the Miami Heat’s opponents with the Hip Hop gripe.
During a recent interview with 104.3 The Ticket, Flo Rida’s manager Freezy spoke on how the NBA emailed to inform him that he would not be permitted to attend Game 6 and Game 7 at the American Airline Arena.
Why?
According to Freezy, the San Antonio Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich felt his energy was disruptive and Freezy even chalked some of it up to the Spurs’ fear of the Heat:
“They were just telling me we had too much energy and the head coach complained about it. Them cats want an easy win. They ain’t used to that Miami Heat support right next to them in their ears.”
Freezy was also ejected from an Eastern Conference Finals game against the Indiana Pacers less than a month ago.
(AllHipHop News) Yeezus is Kanye West’s most polarizing album ever and has parted the sea divided people on their perceptions of the album. Some believe it is brilliant, others, such as the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) find some of the lyrics reprehensible.
On the album opening song “On Sight”, Kanye boasts he’ll “get this b*tch shaking like Parkinson’s” to the chagrin of the APDA. The Vice President of the APDA sent out a message to Kanye about his lyric:
“We find these lyrics distasteful and the product of obvious ignorance.”
What is your gold standard for production in hip hop? Try and pick one. I pick DJ Premier. So when someone writes “this dude is the next Premo”, he gets at least a listen from me. Statik is that dude. Originally from Mass., he has worked with some East Coast greats… Styles P, Freddie Foxxx, R.E.K.S, M.O.P., Termanology, Freeway, and Action Bronson to name a few. My personal fav is on Styles P’s Master of Ceremonies “Feeling’s Gone”…..check the D-Block sample scratches. A work of art through music.
Extended Play keeps the equation the same. Sick beats, and familiar collaborators along with some new. “Bird’s Eye View” with Raekwon, Joey Bada$$ and Black Thought” was the first single out earlier this year and is one of my fav’s on this album. Gospel like choir with a simple yet head knocking beat. Black Thought spits it thorough at the end “I am the living definition of improving the groove, I use the same tools to shoot that Kubrick used”. “Pinky Ring” teams Selek with Prodigy. Got that 70’s funk feel, makes you wanna walk real smooth down the street to the beat. Prodigy with the low key yet dangerous flow “I’m a grown ass man, hit the mag at your liva” Moving on to “Funeral Sessions” w Styles P, Bun B, and Hit-Boy. Styles P is one of the illest MCs ever to me. Statik’s beats are a perfect compliment here. Bun B. of UGK another legend. These two flow effortlessly over chorus and boom bap galore. “Ride on them dudes, show ‘em you ain’t coward”.
All in all the effort is solid. However, with such a roster of ill MCs, there seems to be some lack luster spitters that should not be on the same track as the others. Almost feels like a little bit of filler. Maybe Statik is trying to shed some limelight to his buddies and I cannot be against that. However, for example, I rather have had extra bars from both the Ghost and Bun on Funeral session, if you get my drift. The beats are there, the greats are on there too. Why not have the All Stars rap the whole piece and X out the gold string?
AHH’s Ratings:
Lyricism – 7/10
Production – 9/10
Album Cohesiveness – 5/10
Replay Value – 5/10
Overall – 7/10
Personal Favorite Tracks: Bird’s Eye View Ft. Raekwon, Joey Bada$$, and Black Thought / Funeral Season Ft. Styles P., Bun B and Hit-Boy / Pinky Ring feat. Prodigy
(AllHipHop News) Texas Hip Hop legend Bun B is a serious fan of the NFL’s Houston Texans and apparently a fan of their starting running back A#### Foster’s rap skills as well. Recently Bun sat down with Nick Scurfield for his “Off The Turf With Scurf” podcast to talk about his music career and his interest in football.
During the interview Bun revealed that Foster is an undercover rapper, and in his opinion the Texans franchise leader in career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns is as formidable in the booth as he is on the field.
During the offseason, Foster reached out to Bun about his passion for emceeing.
“After he got his extension, he was like, ‘Man, I got some things I just want to finally take a deep breath.’ He doesn’t really make music that he feels like he needs to put out a mixtape or make an album or feel like he needs to share or any of that kind of thing. It’s kind of more of a release for him,” said Bun B. “We just get together and just make music, not for commercial release but just for cultural expression.”
Scurfield says he has spoken to Foster in the past, and the University of Tennessee philosophy major may decide to release some of his music to the public at some point in the future. According to Bun, it may be worth the wait.
“I think he’s really good. I think people would be really surprised to hear him do his thing,” added Bun. “He’s really proud of what he can do, and he should be.”

iAmMikeDean: Yes and yes.
Dean did not give any more details about the tour such as dates, locations, and venue size. The Yeezus tour will be Kanye’s first headlining solo tour since 2008’s Glow In The Dark Tour. In 2011, West teamed up with Jay-Z for the Watch The Throne Tour.

(AllHipHop News) It’s been over a year since the bottle throwing incident between Drake and Chris Brown at a New York City nightclub, but apparently the feud continues. Drake will appear in the July edition of GQ magazine, and in the cover article the Toronto rapper gives his take on the current situation with Brown.
“I don’t want my name to be synonymous with that guy’s name. I really don’t,” says Drake according to radaronline. “I wish we could sit down, just like you and me are right now, and talk it out man-to-man. But that’s not going to happen. I’m not confrontational, but if someone challenges, I’m not going to back down.”
Drake is currently prepping for the release of his third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, and a fall tour with R&B star Miguel, and he says he wants to focus on his music and not on beef. He worries that the end results of the continuous conflict could turn out bad.

“It’s embarrassing, the amount of media coverage,” says Drake. “Two rappers fighting over the woman. He’s not even a rapper, but still, it’s the last way you want your name out there. It distracts from the music. But he’s made me the enemy, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay, I guess… If I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot, like I get a feeling it could end really badly.”
Drake also reveals in the article that Nothing Was The Same was inspired by Marvin Gaye’s 1978 classic break-up album Here, My Dear, and it will feature Curtis Mayfield and Whitney Houston samples.

That boy Young Jeezy has endured several seasons in hip-hop. And he’s going to come out quick in the fall. I’m hearing he’s busting out in September with a new album. What I don’t have is any information on the angle he’s coming out with it.
If you didn’t know, Jeezy has a new sneaker situation with Gourmet kicks.
Peep it.
“The relationship with Gourmet isn’t an endorsement, it’s a partnership,” Young Jeezy emphasized during the launch at the popular Atlanta boutique, Wish. “I wanted to collaborate with a boutique brand and Gourmet has a style and vibe that just meshes with mine – part street, part sophistication. It’ll be cool to start getting involved with the creative process for new collections.”
Also, Jay-Z won’t be going instantly platinum with this new Samsung deal. Somebody at MTV talked to somebody at SoundScan and they said that ish ain’t gonna count towards his first week sales. What’s interesting is Wal Mart and Target bulk purchases DO count towards those sales, because they are going to turn around and sell them to the consumer. I found that part interesting. Anyway. Jay will do numbers regardless and he can say he sold a million in his brain, because the money is the same.

NEW RULES, BEYOTCH!
