Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Kanye West Joining "American Idol"? Mariah Upset With Nicki Minaj?

Yeezy is allegedly in serious negotiations with FOX’s “American Idol” to be a judge. The suits at Idol have allegedly reached out to Kanye and, according to TMZ, Kanye has expressed interest.  If he takes the gig, Yeezy will reportedly ask for equal or more money than the recently added judge, Mariah Carey – who is raking in $18 million for one season! According to TMZ’s source, Kanye is “on the fence,” because he isn’t sure if “A.I.” fits with his image.

The Internet has been buzzing that Nicki Minaj was also in talks to join “American Idol” as a judge. Nicki even tweeted that she “has a surprise” for her fans, which have led many to believe that it will be the announcement that she has joined “A.I”.  Mariah Carey is rumored to be furious at the potential of Nicki joining idol.

Sources connected with “Idol” tell TMZ … “Mariah was led to believe she would be the only woman on the judge’s panel. Choosing Nicki would not only crush that expectation, it would add insult to injury because Nicki (29) is a lot younger than Mariah (42).” They say Mariah hung up on the “Idol” head honchos when they told her about Nicki possibly joining the judges table.

Do you think having Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Mariah Carey as “American Idol” judges is a good move? It most certanly will help with the ratings!

I NEED AN AROUND THE WAY GIRL: Can Women Return To Their Hip-Hop Roots?

So here we are – in the age of everything Nicki Minaj, and not too far removed from when it was all about Foxy or Kim. Female rappers have always had a place, but never quite seem to stay in first place. In a male-dominated genre, it seems harder to find a female artist who keeps her street and radio marketability, without being too far left field. R&B seems to give fans more covered ground than rap does; more of those women seem to give off intelligence, modest sexuality, and strength at the same time.

Maybe Hip-Hop should take notes and make a fresh start back to where it began.

For most, the ’80s stood out as a period where ladies went outside their usual box and began to find a voice in rap. Unlike some of the newer generation of ladies in Hip-Hop, they weren’t automatically stuck on all things sex or fashion – they conveyed real messages like their male counterparts. Many may recall Roxanne Shonte’s “Roxanne’s Revenge”, which was a diss to the original “Roxanne Roxanne” record by UTFO. She started a powerful movement for Hip-Hop. Other artists began to surface such as Salt N Pepa, one of rap’s first female crews. They also started out with a response record. In this case it was “The Show Stopper”, which played off of Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick’s uber-classic, “The Show”.

Around the same time, artists peaked in their own way and positioned themselves as lyricists to watch for. They took individual approaches that fans found appealing, simple, and more relatable. Some examples are MC Lyte with the hardcore, pull-no-punches role, and Queen Latifah as the strong, empowered woman. They gave listeners real insight into a woman’s massive potential in rhyming. They were followed by Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Eve, to name a few, all creating different forms of success and originality, while remaining true staples of quality. That formula, as of late, seems harder to come by.

From the beginning, the subject of disrespect was at the forefront. Now, it seems the men don’t have to talk about it; many of the women put it all out there themselves. The times have transformed the thought processes of some female MCs, producing songs that would rather add to the insulting and downgrading, instead of lifting up. A lady naturally gains attention through sex appeal, but its when she speaks, even through verses, that she has the chance to change the opinions of those expecting nothing more from her than what they normally hear and see.

The voices of women can’t be limited to that of a particular artist or group, but the masses shouldn’t get stuck with the usual, cookie-cutter types that often make it to the mainstream. Female MCs who break the mold do exist. The fans are waiting for a real everyday woman with raw talent, minus the typical expectations put on her craft.

The ones they once heard more of. The ones from around the way.

Five Ways to Stay Motivated

by Corrina Underwood

Because you want to feel and look good, you’ve set a goal to get in shape and stay in shape. Whether it’s going to the gym, taking a morning run or walking instead of taking the bus, it’s feels great when you get started, but after a while you may find yourself skipping a day, then a few days and then, well why bother? Keeping yourself motivated is key to sticking with your program. Believe it or not, there are ways to stay motivated even on days when you feel like giving in. Here are five ways to get and stay motivated.

Get Real with your Goal
“I’m gonna lose 20 pounds by the end of the month.”

The first rule to staying motivated is getting real with your goals. Okay, so you want to make some big changes in your life, but if you set your goals impossibly high, when you find you can’t make them, you’re going to feel defeated and your motivation will melt away faster than ice on a hotplate. Write down your main objective, then break it down into smaller, landmark goals that you can spread out over a reasonable timeline. Don’t be in too big a hurry; just think how great you’re going to feel every time you reach a goal.

Get Pumped, Stay Inspired
“I was all raring to go when I started, but now, it’s just not the same.”

Every day is going to be different and that means you won’t always feel as pumped up as you did when you started out. So, what can you do to get yourself fired up again? Firstly, remind yourself of your goals, and how good you’ll be looking and feeling when you’re back in shape. Secondly, think about how each day that you stick to your plan, you’re getting a little close to that goal. Thirdly, get inspired by real people. Look to your favorite artists and actors, see what shape are they’re in, and how they stay there.

Understand What Makes you Bored
“I’m just tired of going to the gym everyday.”

If you’re feeling bored, then you’re already on the way to quitting. If your routine isn’t working for you, maybe it’s because it’s too routine. You don’t have to go to the gym everyday. Some days you could go for a run, shoot some hoops, or take a few laps of the pool. Adding variety to your program will keep you motivated. The same applies to your diet; don’t deprive yourself of all the foods you like. Remember, variety will help fuel your drive.

Lose the Excuses
“I got up late this morning, so I don’t have time to go to the gym.”

When you’re finding reasons not to stick to your program, it’s time to take affirmative action. Before you skip your workout try some positive thinking to boost your motivation.
“I’ll feel good after I’ve worked out.”
“I’ll have more energy for the rest of the day.”
“I’m getting stronger every day.”

Reward your Achievements
“I’ve reached my first goal. I’m gonna buy tickets for tonight’s concert.”

You’ve made it this far, go ahead and reward yourself; you’ve earned it. There’s no better feeling than when you attain one of your landmarks. Giving yourself a big pat on the back is another great way to stay motivated and get you ready to move on to the next stage.

EXCLUSIVE: Behind the Scenes of Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa's "Jet Life" Video Shoot

What happens when you get two of the biggest herb smokers in the game – Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa – on a video set together? Eh well…. you can guess.

In general, you get Cheech and Chong-looking joints the size of a cigar, the eclectic and transient sounds of a banging, Big K.R.I.T. beat and, of course, a few fine ladies in the mix to mingle.

Check out AllHipHop.com’s exclusive, behind the scenes footage with the Jet Life and Taylor Gang ringleaders collaborating on an afternoon of smoke and rap. Does it get any better than this?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Keri Hilson Blackballed Because Of Beyonce Diss?

Damn. After I stopped going gaga for Kelly Rowland, I had a few moments where I was all on Keri Hilson. At the time, Keri was very…oh lala. Basically, she was one of the few chicks that were surviving the Beyonce era. Most singers were destroyed by B and anybody else was just struggling. But now, it appears that the B-curse has finally caught Keri. I was always wondering what happened to her and why didn’t she come back around after being pretty successful. In 2009, Keri said these fateful words on the remix to “Turning Me On.”
I shot the sheriff, but wait till i shoot these b*tches……down

now i ain’t tryin to start no mess it just something of my chest…..that i need to get off
cause you turnin me off

ya vision cloudy if you think you the best
you can dance, she can sing but need to move it TO THE LEFT

you need to go have some babies, she needs to sit down she fadin

those other b*tches ain’t even worth my time to talk about

been had dollas boy, go get ya money up
know you ain’t the only homie

homie lined up /
i ain’t turnin it off, im still turning it on
go head and tell these folks how long i’ve been writing your song

i been putting you on
/ just check the credits ho
and if you want me you can find me in decatur ho

Seems like Interscope has gotten the Illuminati word and cut off Keri’s lifeline. I’ve heard her own haughty behavior has contributed to her situation. Now, nobody is wiling to work with her, rumors say. Crazy thing is, Keri is a very accomplished song writer! Somebody get Timbaland on the phone!

Damn it Keri! You still fine though!
