The rumors are swirling around Kim and Kanye. There is alleged trouble on the horizon. I don’t know a lot about Kim K, but it seems like she dated one of the Jacksons named TJ Jackson. This young man was her first. TJ is the son of Tito Jackson, the bass player for the Jackson Five. Well, with all the drama surrounding the Jackson fam, is seems that Kim reached out to offer her support. No bueno. The National Enquirer, which is surprisingly on point these days, says KANYE WENT OFF. Here is what they said. Now here’s Kicker No. 2: Kim phoned old friend/teen-throb TJ, now a married father of three, to tell him she’d help out any way she could with his “new kids” – but that touched off the hair-trigger temper of Special K’s thug/lover KANYE WEST, who fears his big-bootied cutie might rekindle the flames of hot teen love!
Revealed a close friend: “Kanye’s boiling! He told Kim to stay a million miles away from that crazy family, and not to get caught up in their drama – because he won’t stand for it! But his reaction’s made Kim apprehensive. Friends think that more and more, she sees that Kanye wants her at his constant beck and call – because he wants to shrink her life outside of their relationship!”
I don’t know how close they are to getting married, but Kim and Kris marriage will not be settled until next year so any hopes of KimYe tying the knock are going to be held off. They said Kim has already paid $250k to her lawyers already. Now, that s**t CRAY!
Well, Nelly ain’t never lie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the skit has been reworked and will now be an improv show mixed with scripted material. The cast members for the show are confirmed as Kevin Hart, Nelly, Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, Duane Martin, Boris Kodjoe, and Faizon Love. So what network has snagged the sure to be hit? None other than BET!
BET is making sure that the show will be a success and has wrangled famed director Stan Lathan to direct the project. I can’t wait to set my DVR for the show. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a riot.
In related news, Kelly Rowland has just landed a new pilot on BET. “What Would Dylan Do” (working title), will see Rowland play an L.A. based relationship blogger who lives with her best friend, Cherise (Gabrielle Dennis, The Game), and wealthy and divorced roommate, Brooke (Melanie Liburd, Strike Back).
It seems like BET is making major moves this year. Both of these shows sound like winners to me! Salute BET!
(AllHipHop News) Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has canceled a headlining slot at the V Festival this weekend.
The rapper was supposed to perform at Weston Park in the UK today (August 18), but canceled the appearance after she fell ill, while boarding a flight to the United Kingdom yesterday (August 17).
A spokesperson said that Nicki Minaj’s entourage had arrived in the UK, but the rapper was too sick to board her flight for the performance.
“As the artist herself boarded her flight from New York on Friday, she felt unwell again. This is despite having thought she had overcome her vocal cord issues from earlier in the week,” a V Festival representative said in a statement.
Nicki Minaj has been ordered to rest for at least a week, in order to recover.
Other acts still performing at the V Festival this weekend includes The Killers, The Ting Tings, Tinie Tempah, LMFAO, Rita Ora, Childish Gambino, Nneka and dozens of others.
On Thursday night, AllHipHop.com had the distinguished privilege of seeing the remaining members of one of music’s greatest bands ever come together for a tribute show that will likely never be duplicated. The Doors – performing right on Sunset Strip in Hollywood at the House of Blues, just blocks and walking distance from the Whiskey a Go Go, the Roxy and other venues where the iconic group used to tear up the strip.
With blues and 1968’s Summer of Love in the air, Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger brought back some of The Doors greatest hits with a some help from Franky Perez, Billy Morrison, Matt Sorum (ex-Guns n’ Roses), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Emily Armstrong and Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes).
Marilyn Manson
With Jack Daniels on deck as part of an open bar until 9 p.m., the venue had a filthy odor of Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll. What else do you really want in all reality? Rock DJ Jim Ladd introduced a host of guests to speak on the legacy of The Doors including Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, Marilyn Manson, Roxy Theater owner, Nic Adler, and Whiskey A Go Go owner Mikael Maglieri, who gave Krieger and Manzarek the Elmer Valentine Award. The day was also declared “The Doors Day” by the mayor of West Hollywood.
While you may wonder how this is important to Hip-Hop, you should take note that a host of Hip-Hop acts have sampled The Doors over the years. Jay-Z sampled the track “Five to One” as he dissed Nas and Prodigy on the Blueprint album. There are plenty of other songs as well, like when Snoop Lion (then Snoop Dogg) sampled “Riders on the Storm.”
Tech N9ne has even given his props to The Doors, and recorded a song with them – here’s what he had to say about their music and the late Jim Morrison in an interview with the Village Voice, as he describes how he came up with the name of his label Strange Music based on a few of The Doors songs:
“I’ve been a fan since I don’t know how long ago. I never knew that I’d get to work with them. I was inspired by Jim’s words on “Strange Days” and “People Are Strange,” so I named my label Strange Music.
“Jim Morrison is a rebel. Keep in mind that he died when I was born, ’71, so I got his music later in my life, from DJs I lived with when I was 19 and stuff like that. I’m 40 years old now. Songs like “Five to One”, “Love Me Two Times”, “The End” – just the rebel of his mind. He was a poet, he didn’t care what people thought. That was so me. I’m just free with myself. I give all of me and that’s what I felt through their music.
“In 2010, when I was first called to Paris to do a show, I discovered Père Lachaise [Cemetery] was there. We went and found his gravesite, and we drank with him. I told him, “Thanks for the inspiration. Because Strange Music saved my life. I had no idea what I was going to do. I was going to be a psychiatrist, but I left school in my 12th grade year, on the honor roll.”
At the time singer Jordin Sparks was approached to play the lead in Sparkle, she had recently parted ways with her management and didn’t know what was going on with her label.
It’s been a “blessing,” Sparks reveals, as she was unsure what was next. The Old School, big screen remake finds her paired with the late icon Whitney Houston and a cast of her up and coming entertainment peers.
