Glorious Monday, my Destined and Determined!!
Welcome to the best week of the rest of your life!! This Friday, March 9, 2012, will mark the 15th Anniversary of the passing of Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. In celebration of his life, we are dedicating this week’s Daily Words to many of his hits and messages in music that are often overlooked!
Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to Sky being the limit! I despise emphatically when someone tries to convince a dreamer that something is impossible!! I use the word emphatically because my disgust and disdain for this behavior is so strong, that just saying I dislike it wouldn’t show my true feelings!
People’s opinion are based ONLY on their experiences and the experiences of others! If those experiences are limited, then so are their opinions!! Opinions are NOT based on truth, and they are NOT facts! The fact is that you can do
ANYTHING you put your mind to!! This is not a cliche’ or a saying that goes on t-shirts! This is an undisputed fact that has been proven and tested for many centuries, and we need to realize this concept sooner than later!!
Sky is the limit! If you can dream it, you can make it so!! Stop allowing other people’s limitations to stop you from getting what you truly deserve!! Those who say it cannot be done shouldn’t interrupt the people doing it!! This week and until forever, I need you to take back your powers and make the impossible happen! Dream B.I.G. dreams and never let up until they come true!
As Biggie Smalls said, “Stay Far from Timid/ Only make moves when your hearts in it/ And live the phrase Sky’s the limit!!”
-Ash’Cash
“Simply pushing harder within the old boundaries will not do.” -Karl Weick
“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.” -Arthur C. Clarke
“Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you’ll see the way to fly.” -Richard Bach
“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt
“The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger
“The impossible – what nobody can do until somebody does.” -Unknown
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” -Unknown
“Dream the impossible dream; Fight the unbeatable foe; Strive with your last once of courage, to reach the unreachable star.” -Unknown

Of all of the artists that are listed on XXL’s annual Freshmen List for 2012, Don Trip may be the most underrated. He’s been consistently dropping mixtapes for quite some time, but chances are that because of the XXL nod, his latest may be his most scrutinized to date. “Guerilla” is a DJ Drama-hosted affair that has as solid timing as it does rhymes and concepts, and it should definitely be checked, most notably for the street narratives that Don delivers.
Surprising to some and common sense to others, Don Trip is extremely well-rounded as a rapper and shows off different sides of his persona without even trying. The honesty is present from the beginning with clever lines rooted all throughout the self-titled track, from narrating about his personal feelings of doom (“They say the money keep me high, oh how I pray I never land / but I don’t pray so wonder why I feel damned”) to his ride-or-die tendencies (“Ridin’ with that fire like a cross from the Klan”). He also addresses the situation with not being able to see his son throughout the 17-track outing (although not in detail like his video with Cee-Lo).
However, the most impressive aspect of the project isn’t the solid production (helmed by The Renegades, Cool & Dre, Drumma Boy and others), the clever punchlines, the legit features (most notably 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti, and Juicy J) or his ability to put together complete songs (“New Lifestyle” feat. Arion is a great example of this). The best parts of “Guerilla” are the songs that have Don Trip taking on the role of a storyteller. “Trap’d In Da Trap” tells a story of a man who’s stuck in his life, but his circumstances keep him from breaking out. A different element is added in each verse, piling on more and more drama that restrains him from escaping. In contrast, “Shut Up” relates a story about a female who almost ruins a street transaction in more ways than one, adding a different part of the developing story in each verse. After being exposed to that side of his talent, it’s hard to listen to songs like “P***y” without it feeling like filler, although the 2 Chainz verse is addictive and the ad-libs throughout Trip’s verses are Rozay-like.
The narrative side of Don Trip adds a refreshing twist to an already impressive outing, but he’s not a chump in any other aspect. If anything, “Guerilla” proves that not only is he consistent, but there’s more potential as well. It’s easy to say that he sounds like a more “lyrical” Young Jeezy, but that would be understating it, and also digressing from the point that DJ Drama described Don Trip best during one of his most-quoted ad-libs:
“Quality….Street….Music.”
Indeed it is.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Young Buck and his girlfriend were involved in an altercation just moments before a shooting that riddled the rap star’s SUV.
Young Buck, born David Brown, was inside of club La Bamba in South Nashville early Sunday morning, when he and his girlfriend were involved in a heated exchange with another group of people.
Security intervened in the matter and Young Buck and his girlfriend Kenyetta Rainey left the club, along with the party they originally argued with.
Moments later, a white Chevy Tahoe pulled up alongside Young Buck’s Cadillac Escalade and fired upon the vehicle.
The Cadillac Escalade was struck 11 times, and Young Buck’s girlfriend was grazed in the shoulder.
Rainey was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.
Police are still seeking suspects in the shooting, which occurred hours after Young Buck hosted a video shoot and cookout.
(AllHipHop News) Back in November, rumors stated that Ice Cube would be writing, producing, and possibly directing the final installment in the Friday franchise, tentatively titled Last Friday, and that the first film’s co-star, Chis Tucker, would be returning.
In an interview with Collider, Ice Cube, who is doing press rounds for his role in the upcoming comedy 21 Jump Street, offered a significant update on the highly-anticpiated sequel, including the revelation that he has already begun writing the film.
“There’s a lot of movement. I’m writing the script right now, so we worked out a deal with New Line. The ball is rolling. We invited everybody back and we’ll have a fun movie.”
When asked if Chris Tucker, who famously portrayed the character Smokey in the first Friday almost 15 years ago, would be returning, Cube responded with “I hope so.”
Tucker, who has not starred in a film since Rush Hour 3, is currently filming David O. Russell’s The Silver Lining’s Playbook, marking his first return to the silver screen since 2007. The film is set for theatrical release this November and also stars Robert DeNiro and Bradley Cooper.
Having directed the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “Straight Outta L.A.” last year, it was only natural for Collider to ask Cube if he had plans for any future directorial projects outside of Last Friday. “Yeah it’s always in the works,” he answered. “I gotta find pet projects, things that I’m really into. If not, I’ll just produce. If I find something that I just know I have to do, then I’ll direct.”
Ice Cube can next be seen in the comedy 21 Jump Street which hits theaters on March 21.
Jay-Z and Eminem At SXSW?
Uh Oh! If the rumors are correct, we are hearing something epic is going to go down at SXSW! The word on the street is that the two biggest names in rap are going to make an appearance up in Austin. On the last Saturday of the festival, rumor has it that the twin titans are going to do an exclusive show. Surprise! Opps…hopefully we didn’t spoil the surprise. Who knows, South by gets bigger every ear. No real shocker, but a shocker nonetheless.
