Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-Z and Kanye Dead Drake And Weezy’s Collabo?

WHA? WHAT HAPPENED?

We all know that Drake and Wayne were first to market with their collabo idea! So why are they letting Watch The Throne stop them from doing their anticipated collaboration album? When Drake talked to XXL, he revealed just that. SMH.

“Me and Wayne scrapped the idea of a collaboration album. We just agreed that it would be looked upon as…It would be sort of this competition [with Watch The Throne]. I feel like it would get caught in this whirlwind of hype. [Wayne] agreed. We just said, ‘If we do it, we’ll do it down the line. But right now is not the time.’”

Fellas, take it from me. Nobody would see yall as biting off Jay and Ye. Plus, all that stuff yall was talking on “I’m Good” should make you more amped to get at them. 🙂

Mac Miller Expected To Make History With First No. 1

(AllHipHop News) Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller is expected to be the first rapper since Snoop Dogg affiliates Tha Dogg Pound to hit the top of the charts as an independent artist.

The rapper’s Blue Slide Park, which came out Tuesday, should top the charts when the numbers come in next week.

The Rostrum Records album is distributed by INgrooves through Fontana Distribution.

Tha Dogg Pound and Mac Miller are the only two rap acts to have achieved such a feat, without the muscle of a major. Ironically, Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food came out almost 16 years to the day, on Nov. 18, 1995 and sold about 278,000 sold according to Billboard magazine. Dogg Food was released via Death Row/Interscope, and independently distributed by Priority.

Hip-Hop Rumors: DMX Goes From Rapper to Janitor?! Jay-Z Gets an Emmy!! Fabolous Ends Music Trilogy!?

DMX Gets His Clean On!

Following on the heels of November 8’s Rumors about a collaboration in the works between Eminem and Mr. Simmons, a video from TMZ was released today that depicts DMX getting his “clean” on. His first stop was at nightclub in South Carolina where he just started vacuuming – yes, vacuuming! When asked what he was doing he explained: “Broom, vacuum, mop, whatever … it’s a rewarding experience. What can I say? I like clean sh*t, and the supplies were available.”

That’s not all! This past weekend, he popped up at a Waffle House and got the urge to start mopping – yes, mopping! This time when asked what was up, he said: “I was in a good mood and felt that I would do that for him since it was 4a.m. and [the employee] had been working all night. The minute you get too big to mop a floor or wipe a counter, that’s the exact minute you have life f*cked up.” Right!

We should mention that this is apparently not court-appointed service he’s doing, so PROPS TO DMX! Check out video of the actual “incidents” here.

Jay-Z Adds Emmy To List of Accomplishments…

Not only did Throne members Kanye West and Jay-Z receive their platinum plaques at Madison Square Garden the other night for their Watch The Throne album, Jay was also awarded an Emmy Award for his Super Bowl XLIV performance of “Run This Town,” which aired before the game. Is an Oscar next?

Rapper Stalley Re-Releases “Lincoln Way Nights”; Details Signing With Maybach Music

(AllHipHop News) Stalley may be one of the newest members to sign to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, but that is not stopping him from dropping an album just a week after the official release of Ambition, from label mate Wale.

The Massillon, Ohio native checked in with AllHipHop.com, during a tour stop in Virginia, where he was promoting the re–release of his mixtape “Lincoln Way Nights.”

“I’m excited to get it to the fans and the people who supported me to have a piece for the collection,” Stalley told AllHipHop.com.

Although Lincoln Way Nights is not an official release from MMG or Warner Brothers, both labels are in full support of the album and recognize its importance to Stalley’s growing fan base.

“Its [distributed through] SMC/Fontana Records, something we previously worked on. Warner Brothers gave the okay so we putting it out,” Stalley told AllHipHop.com. “The people wanted it, so I’m glad I was able to give it to them. A lot of people felt when I put the mixtape out that it sounded like an album. The demand was high so it made sense to put it out on the shelves for them to have something physical to put with their CD collection.”

Stalley also commented on the reason he signed with Maybach Music Group, as opposed to another label.

“[It was] the freedom to be my own artist and do what I been doing,” Stalley told AllHipHop.com. “I created this buzz and everything thus far, just me and my manager. When he saw me he said ‘you are a superstar, you are and I know you will be, and I want to help bring you to that level. He was like ‘I don’t want you to change anything just to continue doing what you been doing.’ And for someone to gimmie that freedom and believe in me the way he did, and to have that machine behind me, it made all the sense in the world.”

Lincoln Way Nights currently available for purchase at all retail stores and on Amazon.com and iTunes.com.

“It’s not about the scans or how many units we sell, its for the fans, we got so many CDs to drop for the Stalley collection, this is just the beginning,” Stalley promised.

Sony Chief Executive Looking to Acquire Cash Money

(AllHipHop News) Doug Morris, Sony’s chief executive of Music Entertainment, who recently left Universal after 15 years, has his eyes set on some of rap’s largest labels as their looming distribution contracts expire.

My plan here is very simple,” Doug Morris told the New York Times. “To help create the pre-eminent record company in the world.”

Things are changing quickly at Sony, as last week, after months of talks, Morris signed Dr. Luke, who has produced pop hits for Katy Perry and Kesha. By creating what is now Kemosabe Records in collaboration with Dr. Luke, Sony gets exclusive rights to Dr. Luke’s production for the next five years.

Part of Morris’ plan also includes bidding on the contracts for Cash Money and Big Machine. In what likely will be a bidding war with Universal, Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams will have to decide where to take Cash Money Records.

Mr. Morris has also cleaned house by replacing several top executives in Sony’s international division and streamlined the label structure according to the New York Times article.

After enduring layoffs and instability in Jive and Arista, Morris also has hired Antonio “LA” Reid to upgrade the now independent Epic removing it from under Columbia Records.

“In each company that I’ve gone to run, that’s always been the same question,” Mr. Morris told the New York Times. “And each company has gone to be the No. 1 company and the most innovative company. And I think the reason I’m never getting the credit for this is because I’m the oldest guy.”

While some feel things are improving at Sony Entertainment and the music division of the company, Sony Corporation announced expected losses of $1.2 billion this year.

“Our core focus still needs to be developing hits,” he said. “That’s the only constant amidst all the change. So if you don’t get that right, it doesn’t matter how revolutionary the distribution model is or how many revenue streams you have. You still have to have the hits.”

will.I.am Denies Fergie Is Out Of BEP; Checks Wendy Williams

(AllHipHop News) Black Eyed Peas front man will.I.am has once again replied to reports that Fergie has been kicked out of the group.

The rumors began earlier this week, when an unconfirmed report claimed that former Murder Inc. artist Ashanti was replacing Fergie in the Black Eyes Peas.

Several media outlets ran with the bogus report, which will.I.am shot down on Twitter.

In the process, will.I.am gave a piece of his mind to TV personality Wendy Williams, who was planning to discuss the topic on her hit talk show “The Wendy Williams Show.”

“As a journalist you should check facts before spreading rumors,” will.I.am. tweeted to Wendy Williams. “Going to @bep twitter page to find out the truth is easy.”

Wendy Williams replied to will.I.am’s tweet and said she would address it on an upcoming show.

Over the past several months will.I.am has used his Twitter account to counter reports that the Black Eyed Peas were breaking up.

In September, will.I.am used his Twitter account to squash rumors that the group had broken up, after Kanye West sent the group his condolences, during a performance in Austin, Texas in September.

“Rest in peace to the Black Eyed Peas. You’re gonna be missed,” Kanye said from the stage at Austin City Limits.

will.I.am replied almost immediately, denying the claims that the group had broken up.

“Maybe @kanyewest was stating the fact we will take a rest for a little bit…but we the @bep will never die…never…impossible,” will.I.am tweeted.
