Happy Tuesday, my soldiers and survivors!
Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to your endurance and your ability to keep pushing despite overwhelming odds! If I sat here and told you that life would not throw obstacles in your way, then I would be a liar! If I tried to paint a picture that said you should be happy at all times because life is always good, then I would be overly optimistic! If the next sentence I wrote said that following your dream is an easy task, then I would never believe another word I say!
The truth is that, yes, you will have days that are more difficult to bear than others! Yes, chasing a dream may be one of the most difficult things you will ever do in your life!! Despite that, you must never stop until you win!!! No trying, no giving it your best shot!! Those are words of losers!! Win!!!! Point, Blank, Period!!
If it’s worth having, then it’s worth fighting for!! And when you ever feel discouraged, think of the flower that grew from concrete! The one who had it more difficult than his counterparts that were growing in soft soil! The one one who no one even thought could grow in those conditions! In fact, no one even took him serious! Didn’t even give him a chance!! But he never stopped working and shocked the world!!!!! Remember him, for he has beaten the odds! He never stopped until he won!!
Keep pushing! Life can get difficult, and you will meet with many defeats, but it is impossible to lose if you never give up!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 6.5/10
Mac Miller used to be known as Wiz Khalifa’s little homie when he first broke onto the scene, but things are quite different now. Creating a buzz disassociated from anyone but himself, the Pittsburgh representative has gained the approval of many Hip-Hop heavyweights while still maintaining a sound that appears to be ripe for today’s market – a big accomplishment. Blue Slide Park is Miller’s debut album, and listeners of the genre might be divided – between those who want to see him flourish, and those who expected him to fail.
To begin, you have to understand a couple of things here. Mac Miller has been put on by an array of established artists and industry vets, including DJ Premier, DJ Jazzy Jeff, 9th Wonder, Bun B, Talib Kweli, and others. The fact that a white kid who is younger than A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory is getting instant acclaim from such giants in the genre has brought loads of hate, jealousy, and expectation. To be fair, Mac has been a very humble young man throughout all of this, giving out all the appropriate love and homage warranted. However, this seems to have disappeared on Blue Slide Park.
The majority of Blue Slide Park’s production is handled by I.D. Labs, Ritz Reynolds, and Clams Casino – which wouldn’t be a problem if all of the beats were tight. But the majority aren’t. “Up All Night” sounds like a limited attempt at a Hip-Hop oriented Blink-182 track, “Smile Back” sounds like a undershot attempt at a braggadocio Wiz track, and “PA Nights,” “Diamonds & Gold,” and “Frick Park Market” all sound like underwhelming attempts at Mac Miller tracks. It’s as if he hasn’t found his sound yet, which would be understandable if he hadn’t already established his sound with mixtapes and loose tracks.
There are a couple of songs on the LP that are listenable: “Blue Slide Park” is cool, as is “Under The Weather” and “Missed Calls.” “Party on Fifth Ave” samples DJ Kool’s “Let Me Clear My Throat,” and which lends mild intrigue. Songs like “Of The Soul” connect for a verse, but then lose steam due to the mic skills, or lack thereof, of Mac. You don’t listen to Mac Miller for his lyrics; he’s not quite there yet. The appeal has always been his dope production, and the fact that he doesn’t do too much to mess up the groove. But when the groove isn’t established, and he fails to call on his aforementioned ‘super-friends,’ the attention is left all on him. And simply put, Miller needs more experience as a rapper right now.
Although he has denied it before, Mac Miller is a ‘hipster.’ In fact, he is one of leaders of the ever-growing militia of hipsters. It was cool when Miller was wearing snap-backs and sampling Nas, or shouting out Wu-Tang, or rapping over Lord Finesse beats – it sounded good. But Blue Slide Park seems to ditch this approach, while still wearing a snap-back. So now, by some, Mac Miller will likely be labeled by some as a young hipster who is doing Hip-Hop culture wrong. Actually, he’s a real fan of Hip-Hop with under-developed rhymes and mainstream-production problems. Bummer.

The truck contained the first shipment of Ciroc Peach for local businesses in the area. AllHipHop News)A jury in the Michael Jackson case ended deliberations today (November 7) and has reached a verdict in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray.
The jury, which consisted of seven men and five women, found Dr. Conrad Murray, 58, guilty of involuntary manslaughter for his role in the death of Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 from a drug overdose of the anesthetic Propofol, along with a cocktail of other lethal prescription drugs.
The jury delivered their verdict from the Los Angeles County Superior Courthouse, just two days after beginning their deliberations, which began on Friday (November 3).
Dr. Conrad Murray was hired by Michael Jackson and AEG Live, to be the singer’s personal physician during his “This Is It” comeback tour.
Dr. Murray, who was paid $150,000 per month to look after Michael Jackson, had pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and gross negligence.
Ed Chernoff, the lawyer for Dr. Murray claimed that Michael Jackson had given himself the fatal dose of propofol when Dr. Murray stepped out of the room, to take a phone call.
Prosecutors David Walgren and Deborah Brazil successfully convinced jurors that Dr. Murray was criminally negligent in administering sedatives to Michael Jackson, resulting in the 50-year-old popstar’s death.
Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, is suing AEG for wrongful death.
The family claims that Michael Jackson ultimately succumbed to pressure placed on him by AEG Live to produce the series of come back concerts, due to contractual obligations the singer had with the company.
According to reports, Jackson who was allegedly almost $400 million in debt and would have lost up to $30 million had he not done the “This Is It,” tour, which was funded entirely by AEG Live.
According to reports, the Jackson family believes that AEG Live pressured Michael into 19 more shows, on top of the 31 his contract originally called for.
AEG Live has denied claims and claimed they even threatened to cancel the concert, due to Michael Jackson’s erratic behavior and his repeated absences from rehearsal.
Dr. Conrad Murray had personally vouched for Michael Jackson’s health in an email sent to concert insurance agents inquiring about the singers health, just hours before Michael Jackson died from a fatal drug overdose.
Dr. Conrad Murray faces up to four years in prison.
Lupe Fiasco and The Fiasco Street Team will hold a Hip-Hop discussion panel this Saturday, November 12, at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, New York.
The panel will commemorate the anniversary of the historic “Fiasco Friday” event, where hundreds of fans protested outside Atlantic Records in New York City for the release of Fiasco’s latest release, Lasers.
The goal of event is bring together artists, bloggers and writers, political activists, professors, and fans to consider the current state of Hip-Hop and explore the crossing lines between all mediums.
“This is our first event,” said co-organizer of The Fiasco Street Team, Luella Mink. “We figured since our inspiration to form the team came from us being anxious to spread awareness and inspire a new generation of leaders, it only made sense to hold a discussion on the current state of Hip-Hop, where it’s at, and where it’s going.”
Topics to be discussed include: Hip-Hop as a means for social change, Hip-Hop’s effect on local communities and corporate America, mainstream radio, and other controversial, stimulating topics.
“We feel the history of misogyny and the negative materialistic messages to the youth have devalued Hip-Hop and turned many people against it,” explained Mink. “It’s imperative to speak on these topics and ask hard questions to get hard answers.”
Doors open at 2pm, and the event will run from 3pm until 5pm. Confirmed panelists include Lupe Fiasco, Toni Blackman, Nitty Scott MC, journalist Jay Rodriguez, RapGenius.com creator Byron Hurt, and more.
Tickets are $10, and the event is open to general public. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Horn Of Africa fundraiser.
“We want youth leaders to listen, ask questions, and actively participate in our dialogue to prepare them to discuss these issues with friends and family,” Mink added. “We want the attendees to critically think about Hip-Hop and music and not just accept the songs and messages that come from their radios. We want to instill a gear in Hip-Hop that can drive the youths’ minds to progress and create change and just do good in general.”
Frank Ocean Cancels NYC Show…
Last night, while The Throne was tearing the roof off of the IZOD Center, Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean was set to perform at the Bowery Ballroom as part of his solo tour. Before the show’s start time last night, Ocean issued the following ‘statement’:
“or should i say postponed. i played last night in new orleans, on antibiotics and some other meds. got sick a cpl days before i left los angeles. woke up this morning in new york and could barely speak. called a doctor to my hotel, got a steroid shot. took some more meds. laid in bed allday till soundcheck, got to the venue and could barely sing any of my songs. im really sorry yall. i been workin on this show for months, did everything i could to make it special for yall. i’ll be back soon as i’m healthy. thats my word. tickets will be valid for that, or you guys can get refunded. damn. this s### sucks.”
Although a ton of fans were surely disappointed, there’s nothing you can do about not being able to sing when you’re a singer. Get well soon, Frank!

(AllHipHop News)Snippets of Shaquille O’Neil’s new book recently hit the Internet, and the NBA star revealed some interesting things about his former teammate, Kobe Bryant.
Deadline.com posted excerpts from Shaq’s new autobiography “Shaq Uncut: My Story.”
Portions of the book, which was written along with “Around the Horn” host Jackie MacMullan, detail Shaq’s time on the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as his infamous feud with Kobe Bryant.
Before their relationship became strained, Shaq said that a very young Kobe Bryant predicted that he would dominate the NBA and win multiple championships.
“I’m going to be the number one scorer for the Lakers, I’m going to win five or six championships, and I’m going to be the best player in the game,” Shaq wrote. “I was like, ‘Okay, whatever.’ Then he looked me right in the eye and said, ‘I’m going to be the Will Smith of the NBA.'”
In one portion of the book, Shaq detailed an incident in which he threatened to kill Kobe Bryant, at the height of their feud, during the 2003 – 04 season, when Kobe Bryant was facing rape allegations.
The incident occurred during an argument in the Lakers’ locker room, after both men had promised to stop bashing each other in media interviews.
Shaq said he became extremely upset with Kobe Bryant after he conducted an interview with Jim Gray, in which he claimed the Lakers’ center was milking a toe injury.
“If you ever say anything like what you said to Jim Gray ever again, I will kill you,” said Shaq, who added that he has not spoken to either since the incident.
“Shaq Uncut: My Story” is due in stores nationwide on November 15.
