Long Beach Boys & Girls Clubs Honor Warren G

West Coast rap star Warren G will be on the receiving end of accolades from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach as the organization takes time out to honor the entertainer.

Warren G will receive the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach Image Award today (December 18) during an awards ceremony in Long Beach.

The event, which will take place at the John C. Wallace/Petrolane Club on 1920 Lemon Street, will recognize the rapper/producer for his commitment to Long Beach youth and the community of hometown.

Warren G will be among an esteemed group Long Beach resident honored by the Boys & Girls Club.

Other honorees include actor Percy Daggs, Jr. and NFL wide receiver Samie Parker, who will receive the organization’s alumni awards. Professional boxer Jeremy Williams and actor Daniel Crocktt will also be on hand at the event to accept community leadership awards.

According to Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach branch director Keith Lilly, the award recipients represent a chance to highlight those who have not forgotten where they came from despite their success.

“There is so much greatness that comes out of Long Beach,” Lilly said, while noting the timing of the awards ceremony. “It’s a good feeling knowing that no matter how successful our honorees have become in life, they still continue to give back to their hometown. There’s something very humbling about that. Especially at this time of the year.”

The Boys & Girls Club’s honoring of Warren G comes amid the recent release of the rapper’s latest album, The G Files.

The offering, which hit stores in September, features appearances from Snoop Dogg, Bishop Lamont, Paul Wall, Ray J and Ice Cube.

The Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach’s awards presentation will begin at 4:30 p.m. A toy give-away to local youth will follow at 5:00 p.m.

Warren G’s The G-Files is in stores now.

Rick Ross Helps Draw 500k People at Starfest Music Festival

Miami’s Rick Ross was integral part this year at the Haiti stop of the annual Starfest Multi-Cultural Music Festival, which drew an estimated 500,000 fans.

The star-studded event was founded to enthrall Caribbean and other international music fans with music sets featuring the best artists in the realms of Zouk, Compa, Reggae, Jazz, R&B, and Hip-Hop.

Adding to the music are parties, art exhibits, talents shows, food, and cultural awareness events. Also, Starfest brings an additional educational element by illuminating the issues of the Caribbean community.

According to festival founder and president DJ Louis, Ross received a huge reception for his performance despite being the only big name Hip-Hop act on the bill, which featured international stars such as Black Dada, Shabba Dkakout, Chale Republik, and RockFam.

“This was truly for a great cause which made it even more beautiful, but it also speaks as a global movement that is more than just about the music,” Louis explained to AllHipHop.com in a prepared statement. “Along with Ross, we visited hospitals, several boys and girls group homes, and showed love to the men in duty in Haiti. It is a true blessing for the Starfest team to see the results in motion. Again, it wasn’t just about the great music, thank you to everyone that supports our movement including Rick Ross. I cannot stop thanking God for what just happened: it was not a walk in the park in any way. The work is still not done, but with the help of God, all things are possible. We have 15 more countries still to go.”

Rick Ross’ third LP, Deeper Than Rap, was released in April, and was his third album to debut #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. His latest project was the Triple C’s debut Custom Cars & Cycles, which dropped on October 27.

At press time, Ross is on tap for 3 projects in 2010, including a new solo album (Teflon Don), a collaboration LP with Birdman (H), and Triple C’s sophomore offering (tentatively titled Color, Cut, Clarity).

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay/Nas “Empire State of Mind” Deaded? Beyonce’s Parents Divorce? Eminem’s New Group Is Ready!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

See something, say something! Click here to send tips, news and celeb sightings!

THE NAS/JAY “EMPIRE STATE OF MIND” MAY NOT HAPPEN!

AgGGG! I hope I didn’t have anything to do with this. But I am getting word that the “Empire State of Mind” record may not happen. Somebody alluded to it being leaked to the public too soon and that it is POSSIBLE that it got Beans all ready and all that. I hope not, because that would be a fail on my part. I definitely want to hear this remix, because Nas was supposed to be on it anyway…rumor says!

SLAUGHTERHOUSE IS READY FOR SHADY!

Slaugherhouse should be all set to go over to the house that Eminem built aka Shady Records. I mean, this rumor is so long-running that we’re sick of it, right? Anyway, I  was informed by a lil’ birdie that some internal matters have sort of held up the deal. Seems like its going to go through soon though. I guess, my issue is the mainstream  ready for Eminem or anybody to put out a real HIP-HOP HIP-HOP group? Somehow, I think SH may run into issues the higher they got up the mainstream food chain.

KID CUDI GOT KICKED OFF…

Hey, Kid Cudi is alright with me, but something is awry here.  His management issued a statement about him leaving the Lady Gaga tour…

“Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments. Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January.”

but…we heard…dude got kicked off. Lady Gaga is a straight up mainstream pop artist and he’s messing with the bread, we heard. They can’t have a loose cannon on her tour – insurance must  of gone through the roof after that fight. But I don’t know.

SHYNE’S WORKING ON MUSIC

If you thought Shyne was going to just chillin’ in Beliz and not rapping…NOT! I got the inside word on that and he is most certainly working on music and hoping to release something in the new year. But, if you think he is going to wage war against Diddy, think again…he’s not. Rumor has it, he’s going to be doing uplifting music. According to Mikey the Movie Star, dude may be doing a mixtape with Bang ‘em Smurf called “The Deportees.” We’ll see on that one.

DIRTY MONEY WANTS CLEAN MONEY

I heard Diddy had a party to do out in Chicago, but Diddy and Dirty Money didn’t do it, because the money was funny. Apparently, there was a full $20k “retainer” and the promoter didn’t make it happen in advance so Diddy pulled out of that. One of the attendees hit me up and was heated, because a lot of people came to see Diddy autotune it up with the girls. On top of it all, all the Chi-Town people had gotten all gussied up for the show…

20010 BONNIE AND CLYDE!

We Rydin in 2010, Loc! Bitchie and illy!

(This is some Twitter fun…nothing else)

LIL WAYNE’S REBIRTH = FAIL?

I don’t know about this rock CD, yall! All I can say is…this may be an epic fail. The rumor is that this leaked album is NOT going to be the one that we’ll eventually see…but the damage may be done. It is not stopping people  from reviewing it. Here is Non Juan’s review. He’s got the illest reviews. LOL!

DMX AND FLAVOR FLAV PARTY IT UP?

DMX and Flavor Flav both have a rumored (or is that confirmed) love of crack, but that was not the subject at hand in Scotsdale, Arizona! The pair were there to celebrate DMX’s BIRTHDAY! I think DMX may be 40 like Jay-Z and some others, but I am not sure. Nevertheless, last night, Flav hosted the celebration. I heard DJ Green Lantern and Scarface were on tap to party it up. I really didn’t hear any drama or whatno, but if you do, let me know.

BEYONCE’S PARENTS TO DIVORCE?

According to Bossip.com, Tina Knowles  has filed for Divorce from Matthew. Uh OH!

Looks like somebody is going to be singing that Usher song.

SLIM THUG TELLS HOW HE FEELS

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I heard a rumor about Rocsi, but Jigsaw stopped me. LOL! He’s going to be on “106 & Park” today hosting the Freestyle Friday battle. Check it out. Chris Brown and Alicia Keys are on too.

Whatever Chance said about Jay and Beyonce yesterday was reportedly all wrong. LOL…I mean, go read it and just say, “This isn’t good information.” I can’t lie…I didn’t read it.

If you think I could ever hate on Jazzy Jeff, then you are a fool.  I respect my OG’s, but I’m allowed to wonder about strip clubs and DJ’ing in them if I want.

Coolio is still looking for that check for that celebrity boxing stuff. SMH!

Click here to see how Tiger Woods would woo his mistresses. You have to see a G in motion.

OOPS! Looks like reports of Diddy getting married to Kim are premature! A rep straight shot it down! I wonder of Cassie is in the picture still?

Here are some quick rumors from my lil homey Jazzy F. Baby.

What’s good illseed I thought I would take some initiative and hit you up wit some ill rumors. You know how I do!!

Your Girl Regina King was on the Wendy Williams Show talking about she met her soul mate but would not share who it was but Wendy said he was on her show. I’m thinking Hil Harper.

Melanie C. From Vh1 Rock of Love had a pic of her leaked where she was slobbing on some knob I’m sure a sex tape will reveal soon.

Oh yeah I don’t know if you posted it already but I sent you some bizness from ya girl Risky twitter page about Chance from Vh1 well ya boy did have a twitter page and he deleted it cuz his secret lover was going to expose him more on that soon.

Oh btw we all know Exotica from For The Love Of Ray J was allegedly topping off Slim Thug in the club but she also was trying out for a Victoria Secret contest so we all know what she on the show for. A come up. Girl this glass is not for you!

Oh yeah and there was a tweet posted on foxboogie.com from some publicist rep firm talking about Foxy Brown is working on new material. The fans been waiting that since forever we won’t hold our breath waiting on her 9-year vacation.

 EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

Peep THIS ONE! Shout out to my homey Gift, who sent this one over.

(MYFOX NATIONAL) – A 4-year-old boy had a wild night out after police found him drunk, wearing a girl’s dress and wandering around his neighborhood on Tuesday.

April Wright, 21, told WTVC-TV that she panicked when she didn’t see her son, Hayden, in his bed at her Chattanooga, Tenn., home at 1:45 in the morning. Hayden had somehow managed to break a safety device on a doorknob and get outside. Hayden was found walking in the neighborhood, drinking a 12-ounce beer.

“He runs away trying to find his father,” April said. “He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that’s where his daddy is.”

Police said that Hayden rang the doorbells of a few houses down the street, and one of the neighbors noticed he was holding a partially consumed beer. Hayden then went into a neighbor’s house through the unlocked front door and stole five Christmas gifts. One of them was a brown dress that police found Hayden wearing.

“Going to the neighbor’s house and taking their presents, very embarrassing,” April said.

If I was April, I think  it would be about time to get religious…”LAwd Jesus, help me!” A beer, a dress and a desire to go to jail is NOT what you want from your 4-year-old.

MATTHEW AND TINA, WE LOVE YOU!!!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

Erykah Badu Previews “New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh”

“If my album leaks, I’m not putting it out. Let a b***h make some money.” Most of the evening has been one Earthy, emotive and cerebral experience, but Erykah Badu is clear. Don’t mess with her art or her money.

For much of the night, at Quad Studios in New York, the Dallas-born creative has been fielding questions and compliments from a bunch of musicians, journalists and well wishers who have convened for a series of intimate listening sessions for the Badu’s new album.

Badu’s tone changes dramatically after a cell phone is discovered on one of the participants. Badu and her people have taken everybody’s cell phone and closely monitor anything that may result in a leak.

Such are the problems of an Analog Girl in a Digital World. A website leaked a terribly recorded version of one of her most promising songs.

“Jump In The Air And Stay There” is an ambitious posse cut that features Lil Wayne, crooner Bilal and nine other MC’s that contribute 16 bars.”Each rapper on there has his own version of the song,” Badu explains a marketing aspect to the song. “Everybody on there sounds drunk.” The crowd applauds and guffaws hysterically.

“I’ma B-girl for life,” Badu tells AllHipHop.com of professing her love for Hip-Hop. “I write like an emcee.”

Whereas she may have a particular writing technique, the singer is very formless in her approach to music.

“There aren’t a lot of explanations – it just is what it is,” she maintains right before she plays her latest offering. “Put your people ears on and welcome to New Amerykah.”

New Amerykah, Part II: The Ankh has been in the works for several years, a creation that has run concurrently with other albums, including 2008s New Amerykah: Pt.1: 4th World War.

Badu says she recorded some 52 songs for this one, but honestly doesn’t know the real number.

As the songs play, the audience of taste-makers is impressed. A pair of bald, attendees are in their personal glee, bobbing their heads incessantly to the Badu-riffic sounds.

During the listening portion, Badu lays on the ground looking up to the ceiling or maybe the universe. Only Badu knows what pistons are firing in her mind.

In the Q&A segment of the evening, she offers some insight on several tracks.

On “Fall In Love,” Badu addresses the urban legend of the power she’s allegedly held over the rappers she’s dated (word to Andre 3000, Common and Jay Electronica, who is in attendance).

“I’m giving them a little warning. You don’t want to fall in love me,” she says. “That was inspired by me and the urban legend I’ve created.” The crowd loves it.

She continues to explain to one person that seems unaware of the rumors.

“You know,” she details, “urban legend. You’re not supposed to look [Badu] right in the eye. I’m so harmless.”`

It would appear that Badu is totally comfortable being her, minus some of the external trappings and she explains why via a revealing story about a trip to Cuba. Nevertheless, she looks fine with her hair pulled back in a purple top and latex pants.

Erykah is fine.

She’s got a reputation for the mysterious, but she’s also has the distinction of being one of the most creative acts of our generation.

She is already preparing the album after New Amerykah, Part II, a work called Lowdown Loretta Brown.

Here’s the first look at New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh. “20 Feet Tall” (produced by 9th Wonder) Song tone: Song is reminiscent of New Amerykah, Part I, but then eases into “20 Feet,” a duet that ends with kids screaming happily.Favorite lyrics: “You built a wall 20 feet tall / But if I get off my knees / I might recall I’m 20 feet tall” “Window Seat” (produced by Erykah Badu and James Poyser) The pace picks up with “Window Seat” and harder drums and crooning evoke the old Erykah Badu. The song ends with a jarring mish-mash of psychedelic sounds. Favorite lyrics: “Can I get a window seat…I don’t want nobody next to me.” “I need you to want me / And I need you to miss me / I need your attention / I need you next to me / I need someone to clap for me” “Agitation” (produced by Shafiq Husayn) “Agitation” also ends abruptly, but before that the song is flush with hard drums, a jazzy piano with an overlay of heavy bass. Badu plays the back, but sings “What a day.” “Get Money” (produced by Erykah Badu, James Poyser, Karriem Riggins and Thundercat) While Badu is very much her own celestial star, this song is one that will pull regular humans into her galaxy as it employs the same sample as “Get Money” by Junior M.A.F.I.A. The crowd was easing into a frenzy over this song, especially the aforementioned bald gentlemen. Crowd applauds. Favorite lyrics: “Can’t turn me away / I believe in your heart / I always want to stay.” “Don’t Be Long” (produced by Ta’Raach) “Do you have the number to that other bass player?” Badu says before “Don’t Be Long” starts. The song then delves into a super funky and futuristic bassline that sets the tone for the whole song. Favorite lyrics: “Go baby, go baby / Go be gone, I know you’ve got to get your hustle on.” “I feel like a girl with a fiendish crush.” “Love” (produced by J. Dilla) Love is a short diddy that the internets will probably have fun with and eventually extend it into something longer. Who knows…it sure is fun while it lasts. Favorite lyrics: “You loving me and I’m f***ing ya friend…that’s terrible, ain’t it?” “Umm Hmm” (produced by Madlib) This one features a sped-up vocal sample and is crowded, playing like a vintage record straight from the crates. “You can’t hide / Calm down baby let me go / I love how you make me feel,” she sings. “Fall in Love” (produced by Karriem Riggins) “Fall In Love” samples Eddie Kendricks’s “Intimate Friends” and has been used by Alicia Keys and Death Row singer Sweet Sable in the 90’s. A nice record that will certainly pull in less creative minds and Badu’s usual crowd with familiarity. She also uses a lot of references to the late Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls. This song is a nod to Common, Andre 3000 and perhaps Jay Electronica, her current love interest. Favorite lyrics: “Slow singin’ and flower bringin’ / If my burglar alarm starts ringin’” “You don’t wanna fall in love with me.” “Incense” (produced by Madlib) This cosmic track is all instrumental, but fits nicely into the overall theme of New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh. “incense” takes shape slowly. First off, a harp plays, then a deep bass and the song takes its full soul-filled form. “Out My Mind Just in Time (Part 1) (Undercover Over-Lover)” (produced by James Poyser)“Out My Mind Just in Time (Part 1)” aka “Undercover Over-Lover” represents one of the most appealing songs from a lyrical perspective. The track evokes a long gone era in Harlem and Badu is a jazz singer with just a piano. And even as this is set in the past, Badu manages to leap into the future. On the song she sings, “I’d chop and screw for you” and when she croons, the vocal actually gets adjusted with the deep, slowed down chop and screwed affect. Favorite lyrics: “I’m a recovering undercover over-lover / Recovering from a love I can’t get over / Recovering undercover over-lover / And now my common law lover thinks he wants another.” “I guess I’m a fool for you.” “Out My Mind Just in Time (Part 2)” (produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow) This song presented a very off-beat track that even that bald critics found difficult to catch. Alas, the beat was found and loved. Badu explained the unorthodox approach to music. “It just comes,” she said. This track was for Georgia Anne Muldrow, who serves as the song producer. The song and album ends with a cadre of joyful children yelling, “YAY!” Favorite lyrics: “Could this be love? / From high no frontier / Who is this guy / You are so wise / I’m so gone / By summertime, you’d had it all / Build a wall ten feet tall / Now I laugh at it all”

Jermaine Dupri Denies Abandoning Da Brat In Prison

So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri has responded to critics who claim that he is not supporting incarcerated rapper Da Brat.

Da Brat became involved in an altercation with an aspiring model/Atlanta Falcons cheerleader named Shayla Stevens, who was working as a waitress at a night club Dupri owned outside of Atlanta.

In the ensuing altercation, Da Brat struck Stevens with a bottle of rum, causing multiple lacerations on her face which required stitches and left scars.

Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2008 for her role in the assault.

According to Dupri, he is in regular contact with Da Brat, who is serving her time at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto Georgia.

“I spoke to her via letters back and forth and she’s good. She’s ready to come home and do what she gotta do,” Jermaine Dupri told V-103’s Ryan Cameron this morning. “We are basically on the move to try and get her out.”

While he has corresponded with Da Brat via letters, he admitted that he hasn’t been to physically see her at Arrendale.

“Those people, they don’t really know me like that to say nothing about what I’m doing with my personal situation with Da Brat When Brat come home, I am going to be the person that take care of her and make sure she gets back on her feet and do what she gotta,” Dupri added. “That’s just like everybody talking about Tiger Woods. We know nothing about the situation and everybody should shut up.”

Dupri admitted that he hasn’t been to see Da Brat since her incarceration. He told Da Brat his reasoning in several of the letters he has written to her.

“I felt a certain way about seeing Brat in jail. That’s my little sister and I don’t really want to deal with that situation like that,” Dupri continued. “I would prefer dealing with getting her out and seeing that day as opposed to going to see her…only reason I am saying this on the air is because I explained this to Brat. In my letter, I let her know the same thing.”

Da Brat has remained productive throughout her incarceration.

Both Dupri and Da Brat are the subjects of a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit filed by Stevens.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Def Jam Layoffs? Strip Club DJ’s? Bootleggers Get Busted!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

DEF JAM LAYOFFS

Uh Oh! Bad rumor alert! There is bad news on the horizon…that Def Jam is about to do a massive round of layoffs very soon. I hope they can at least let people enjoy the Christmas Holiday and get through New Years. To  to be perfectly honest, I have been hearing some other, way bigger rumors about Def Jam that may actually impact the whole music industry. I know in the internet nation, its not really common to hold on to something, but I’m going to do just that. Why? I’m hoping this one isn’t true.

A RUMOR I LOST!

Check out this rumor that I actually lost in the flood of junk mail!

Peace Illseed. This is Marchitect from Delaware. I’m up here in Pittsburgh Pa taking in the sites, and handling some biz, when I go to a place called Cheerleaders (club/ strip club)  where Jazzy Jeff was spinning. Brother, let me tell you … first of all Pittsburgh’s, Dj Bonics killed the tables. Then they bring out the p### star Gina Lynn as the featured dancer. Then Jeff goes on and spins and just kills it. I heard it’s the most successful night the club has ever had. 20 dollars a head 200 dollars a bottle, and people in there just loving it. The rapper Skills from Virginia was with Jeff, hyping up the crowd. Turns out Jeff passed out a Michael Jackson mix, on cdr to a few heads, and now every one in Pittsburgh wants that thing! They really made an impression on everyone out here, and im sure the next one will be even better. Oh by the way, they packed the house and it was maybe 8 degrees out!

Wow….Jeff and Skillz…parties in strip clubs. I wonder how much that pays?

BOOTLEGGERS BEWARE!

You didn’t think Hollywood was going to forget that lil’ Wolverine leak last year, did ya?

A man named Gilberto Sanchez, 47, was arrested in New York yesterday. FBI agents descended on dude and charged him with leaking “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” before the official release of the film. The Feds are saying that other people may actually be arrested along with Sanchez. Nobody knows, but he may or may not be THE original leak of the movie.  Here is the formal info:

On or about March 31, 2009, in Los Angeles County, within the Central District of California, and elsewhere, defendant GILBERTO SANCHEZ, also known as (“aka”) “theSkilled1,” aka “SkillfulGil,” aka “Skillz101,” and aka “SkillyGilly,” did willfully infringe the copyright of a copyrighted work by the distribution of a work being prepared for commercial distribution, by making the motion picture “X-Men Origins:Wolverine” available on www.Megaupload.com, a computer network accessible to members of the public, when he knew and should have known that the work was intended for commercial distribution.

Not worth all that drama, Skilly Gilly!

TRAILER FOR IRON MAN!

While we are on the topic of super heroes. Peep the official trailer for Iron Man 2!

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

I have to give a lil pre-fail mention to Terrance Howard.  I like dude…BUT,  they say he wanted more money for his role in Iron Man 2. The producers were like…NO WAY and got Don Cheatle. OUCH. Here is the real fail of the day.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

My girl LaTesha send this over from the good people over at Yahoo.com. This is listed as one of their dumbest acts of the year.

Anthony Armatys is a fool. The dude now faces about sic years in jail. Dude accepted a job in 2002 for a telecommunications manufacturer. Well, he never went to the job, because he declined it. Well, the company had already processed his paperwork and everything and started to pay him as they would if he were an employee making SIX FIGURES. Well, good old Armatys  just started letting the money roll  in and he didn’t say a single word…for five years. After five years, this dude decides to make an early withdrawal from his 401k…uhhhhhhh…YOU DON’T WORK THERE, DUMMY! How are you going gonna pull money from a 401K at a place you don’t work? You know where this is going. The company, Avaya, noticed that dude wasn’t supposed to be getting money in the first place and he was arrested. Now he owes them the full $470,995.53. FAIL – FAIL – FAIL!

THE DAILY TWO SENSE – I’M WORKING!

Just so you all know, I am working on the year in review for AllHipHop so my rumors may be a lil shakey for a few. So, email me your fails of the year, your fools of the year, epic wins, best of whatever you can think of and lets get it going!

 CHANCE ENCOUNTERS

Here is some stuff from CHANCE.

YES!!!!!!!

I

posted Mos Def’s tribute to MJ yesterday but THIS S**T RIGHT HERE…is

what I’ve been waiting on ever since Michael passed.  Chris Brown

performed at the Nokia Theater in New York Tuesday night and took some

time to pay homage to the King…of all the people who’ve paid tribute

I knew Breezy was going to kill it:

And in more CB news Natalie Nunn from The Bad Girls Club

told Angela Yee of Shade45 that she and Chris did do the do and if he

keeps denying it and calling her crazy she’ll release the naked

pictures she has of him.

GOOD HAIR???Remember

Sara Stokes from Diddy’s “Da Band”.  Well aside from stabbing her

husband she’s been up to a few different things including trying to

launch a solo career and modeling weaves for The Weave Shop.  No word

on how big of a check she’s receiving but nowadays any work is good.

Oh yea and that’s Risky from The Real & Chance show next to

her…she’s also a spokesperson/model.Risky and Sara:

PARTY ALL THE TIME

A while back I heard that Kanye didn’t allow Amber Rose to host

parties which is usually a pretty big source of income for celebrities

who don’t actually do anything.  Well I guess now that Kanye is

worrying about getting his own s**t straight she can do whatever she

wants.  She was at Love in DC the other night where she reportedly

received $20,000 and was flown in on a private jet just to host.  She

also hosted a party this past weekend in the Chi at the Zentra

nightclub.  Here’s some video from a party she hosted a few weeks ago.

I’ve fallen for Miss. Rose based on her pictures but this is my first

time seeing her actually speak and I must say she definitely seems down

to earth and pretty street…I like…except for the stog:-In DC:

In Chicago:

TROUBLE IN PARADISE????It

looks like the “kids” issue is pushing Hip-Hop’s golden couple further

and further apart.  In a recent interview with Neon, a German magazine,

Beyonce said “I want children – not now, later. He’s quite not aware of

that fact yet”.  It also appears that Jay is expecting too much from

her.  She said sometimes she likes to hang around the house in sweats

but Jay feels like “women go to the toilet with heels on”.“Gotta keep it fresh girl/ even when we sexin/ or don’t be mad at him when it’s on to the next one” -Jay-ZThey were both at the Robin Thicke album release party but no pictures together:

Locksmith: In Rare Form

Revolutionary

Bay blood surges through the arteries of Locksmith. If he’s rhyming

alongside Left, the other half of his group, Frontline; or, if he’s

surgically euthanizing MCs in battle, Lock is Dr. Kevorkian. This Grind

Time grime reaper snatches souls, sending them to the dead poet’s

society in the sky. Locksmith is devoting himself to Hip-Hop. Although

he didn’t create the Hip-Hop helix, his impending solo, Frank The

Rabbit, will help unlock its secrets. In his AllHipHop.com debut,

Locksmith clarifies his thoughts on everything from regional Hip-Hop

to religion.

AllHipHop.com: For the

folks outside of the Bay, what differentiates The Frontline and Locksmith

from other regional talent?

Locksmith: As far as

the Bay area, I think that everybody is unique. If you’re not unique

then you’re following a pattern; or, you’re following a specific

type of gimmick or something to that degree to that extent. We just

wanted to find our own niche. Even before the notoriety, we always wanted

to be our own artists. We didn’t want to follow E-40 and Too Short.

We’ve always respected those dudes as artists; but, we wanted to set

our own trend. The Bay is a very diverse area; so, our music and as

artists we reflect that. We never followed just one specific trend or

localized ourselves to one area. We always wanted to internalize everything

that was going on in the whole country and put that into our music.

We’re very aware of what’s going on in the nation and internationally,

too. So, we put that in our music and it fits our personalities. It’s

reflected in our music.

AllHipHop.com:

Sometimes emerging MCs striving to break into the mainstream may sacrifice

their lyrical integrity in order become more commercially appealing.

What motivates you to remain steadfast to your lyrical ideals?

Locksmith: It’s not

even a question; I just do what I feel. Whenever you start consciously

saying, I want to appeal to this [it] can be deadly to your career.

I don’t consider myself an underground artist or a commercial artist.

I just do what I do. Sometimes, I’m in a mood to where I have thoughts

that may appeal to a wide range of people. I may have s*** that’s

going on internally; I don’t know if people will identify with it.

But, I know that I’m going to do it. My producer, E-A-Ski recorded

this track, “Rare Form.” I just had some s*** on my chest. Lyrically,

I just wanted to go in and do what I do. He was like, ‘Yo, this s***

is hot. We gotta shoot a video.’ I’m like, “Yo, are you serious?”

He’s like, ‘Man, I think this is dope. This needs to get out there.’

So, we did it—not thinking that this was something that was going

to get a lot of notoriety. This is some intense type of s***; right

now everything is real soft in a sense. Hip-Hop has become more like,

you know, easier to swallow—as far as the mainstream goes.

So, putting out something like

“Rare Form” I didn’t expect this to do anything except provide

a visual for people online.  The s*** ended up getting added to

MTV and spun in regular rotation.  It’s big on the radio stations

out here in Northern California. I’m like, ‘Wow!’ You have a song

with no hook with a long verse for like two something minutes, and it’s

getting played on the radio. I’m going to shows and people are knowing

the words. So, that’s not something that you can plan for, you just

do what you do…

AllHipHop.com:

In respect to the four main principles of Hip-Hop: the emceeing; the

deejaying; the B-Boying and the art of graffiti, how would you describe

Hip-Hop’s current state? Are we experiencing a Hip-Hop depression

or a Hip-Hop reformation?

Locksmith: Some days

I feel like Hip-Hop is being revitalized and some days I’ll see something

and it kinda gets me like, ‘Ugh!’ If I can still make an impact

and I can still do what I do, [and] if I still have that passion inside

of me to keep going, then I feel like it’s very much alive. I’ve

noticed that when I see people appreciate what I’m doing—and I appreciate

what the other dope artists are doing—I feel like Hip-Hop is very

much alive and that the principles and the essence of it is very much

still alive.

The problem is that it’s

become—with capitalism—and what’s going on in Western society,

we’re able to market that and [it’s become] watered down to a certain

degree. It’s going through all this commercial rigmarole, and then

it gets kinda watered down.  And you’re like, okay, you’re

sick of being fed these same images over and over again. That’s just

the companies and their marketing that’s making it that way. But,

Hip-Hop and its essence is very much alive. Every time that I walk somewhere

in The Bay area, I meet tons of young kids and people of all ages telling

me, ‘I love what you’re doing!’ It’s incredible; they show me

love. That lets me know that Hip-Hop and the passion for Hip-Hop is

still very much alive and those principles are still present.

AllHipHop.com: How do

you approach a lyrical battle, is it always pure spontaneous flow? Is

it okay to come with prepared verses?

Locksmith: I fell into

battling when I first started emceeing… Battling is such a critical

part of Hip-Hop itself; I’ve seen its progression. It started off

as being this total freestyle, off-the-dome kind of thing, to progressing

to people having lines, to people having something prepared for somebody

that you know [you’re going to battle] ahead of time. I go into a

battle preparing for anything to happen… You don’t know what you’re

going to get…You can’t come into a battle so prepared that where

you have it all written down and you don’t know what this guy is going

to say. At the same time if he’s preparing for you then you have to

be somewhat prepared for him. He may come with something that’s totally

written and then you’re stuck trying to freestyle off the dome. So,

you just have to be ready for whatever.

Within this last year, I’ve

been back on the battle circuit doing some damage. I’ve learned that

I have to watch every opponent… I’ve had some MCs that have Googled

me and have come back with some totally false information. They’ve

seen it on the internet so they felt they could attack me. I have to

be mentally prepared for that and know what’s going on…

AllHipHop.com:

On November 5th, Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan, is alleged to have

murdered 13 soldiers at Fort Hood military base. It’s been reported

that before he began shooting he bellowed, ‘Allah Akbar [God is great]!’

What do you think of those who are so willing to try to establish a

correlation between his actions and his faith?

Locksmith: I don’t

know what was going through that person’s head… It’s like what

Malcolm X said, ‘The chickens coming home to roost.’ I don’t know

what was in that brother’s heart and what he was doing. I know that

don’t believe the media most of the time. The media is controlled

by sponsors and corporations that are promoting a certain thing. So,

I can’t really go by that. All I know is supposedly what happened.

I’m a Muslim. Islam does

not preach violence on innocent people. The only time that you can use

physical action is when somebody is threatening you directly and you

fight back against that; or, when you have to stop oppression. If you

see somebody else killing or unjustly doing something to someone else,

then it’s your obligation to step up and stop that. But, I don’t

really know all the details on that. I don’t know what went on with

that particular person. I can only speak on that part; that’s how

we deal with it.

AllHipHop.com:

Lock, I want to thank you for your time. Is there anything else that

you’d like to express?

Locksmith: Just go to www.iamlock.com or www.IMGMITV.com. Shout out to E-A-Ski and shout out

to my brother, Left!

Kid Cudi Drops Off ‘Monster’s Ball Tour’

Cleveland, Ohio bred rapper Kid Cudi has dropped off of Lady Gaga’s Monster’s Ball Tour, the rapper said in a statement.

According to Kid Cudi, the tour schedule is interfering with his ability to record his new album, in addition to new acting commitments.

“Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments,” a rep for the rapper said in a statement. “Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January.”

The news comes on the heels of a December 12 incident in which the rapper assaulted a fan during a Vancouver, Canada after someone threw a wallet on the stage during his performance.

Cudi picked the wallet up and threw in back in the crowd. When a fan named Michael Sharpe caught the wallet and threw it back on the stage, Cudi hopped off the stage and punched Sharpe.

Last October, rapper Kanye West dropped off of the tour, after the now infamous incident with Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Kid Cudi, born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, is on the road promoting his album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which was released in September.

Sharpe has stated that he will not press charges against Kid Cudi for the assault.

I Feel Sorry For You, Wack Rapper

I know I am going to be a big bowl of depression when I say this one, but I have to say it. In saying it, I know I am going to be called a hater and a bunch of other colorful that people use to cover up their intellectual shortcomings.

But it is time to cut the crap.

The music we’re making is really turning into some trash that a landfill would refuse to house. I like youtube, twitter and facebook too, but the shouldn’t be places for you to promote your music as you figure it out. Rappers are doing one song, record a shoddy video and then uploading that b***h to youtube for everybody to see. Then, they spam everything with an email address to show it off.

Mr. Wack Rapper, I know you won’t heed this, but stop it. Cut the crap. Get a job. Take care of yourself. Take care of your mom, your kids, your unborn seeds…just stop rapping, please!

We can’t turn you off all the time. We just can’t! You are everywhere. You do mixtapes when you should be flipping burgers or finishing college. You are spending money on studio time and equipment when you should be saving up for a house! Your girl is tired of your shenanigans. You have tattoos all over your non-eating body. Eventually, you are going to get old, fat, and your tats will fade and stretch.

I mean no harm. I just want my ears to be happy. I just want you mother to be a proud one…one that can say, “My boy has a job and he does not look like a failed heavy metal singer.” Now, I am not opposed to everybody looking like a Lil Wayne reject, but I am opposed to losing a GENERATION of young people who have decided that they are going achieve the unattainable at any cost.

Yes, this is beyond me laughing at rappers on youtube. This is a far more grave matter. There was a time when you would dress and act like a rapper and then shed that outer shell for a honest living (even if you still did your rap thing on your time). These Sideshow Bob looking cats can’t do that unless the day job is a circus.

I don’t mean any harm, but another one is this kid Arab that used to be down with Soulja Boy. Somebody close to me sent me a video of his and honestly, I almost punched my computer.

This is the video.

And it’s not just the young…it’s the old too.

I came across this the other day and I was just shocked that this person named Mean Green was actually rapping.

Dude had the nerve to make it drizzle and then took the money back when somebody tried to pick it up.

Here is another video of ol’ Mean Grean, who ended up rocking his Arkansas crowd.

“I know you like that!”

Nope.

I’m really not hating. I’m really concerned for Arab and Mean Green. At some point, they are going to have to admit that this thing called rapping just isn’t a trade that they are going to fare well in.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong…but I think I’m right on the mean green.
