Update: Naughty By Nature Gets Talib Kweli’s Laptop Back From Theif

Update: Vinnie from Naughty By Nature has helped Talib Kweli reclaim his laptop from an Australian man that took it from a dressing room.Kweli said, “Shout to @DDotOmen and

Vinnie from @naughtybynature

for being instrumental in getting me the stuff back. Dude dropped it

off and ran.”The Brooklyn rapper quipped that the man kept his hat.”So I have my computer back. And phone. That clown

ass n***a Amir Bashir kept my Yankee fitted tho.”***Talib Kweli’s laptop was stolen last night at a performance in Melbourne, Australia, but the culprit was quickly identified after his actions were circulated with viral video.

The person entered into Jean Grae’s dressing room and quickly stole Kweli’s laptop and cell phone.

Talib used his Twitter to initiate the search for the culprit. He said, “Someone came in Jean Grae’s dressing rm last night, stole my laptop & phone. They was with the opener whos dressing rm was next to mine.”

The hotel where they were staying provided video footage of the thief. The video was also circulated online. One person, who helped distribute the videos, said, “Who knows this dude ? @CBlacksmith @RealTalibKweli if u know him. We just want laptop.”

The thief was quickly identified as Amir Bashir, a person presumed fan of Jean Grae and Talib Kweli.

At press time, Talib Kweli appeared to have all of Bashir’s info, but the Australian man seemingly has refused to give back the laptop or cell phone.

“Someone tell Amir Bashir I have that Charles Court address. and landline. man up,” Kweli tweeted. “The club owner called the police already. In the meantime I catch a flight tomorrow. And I aint leaving without ALL the info.”

On his own Facebook, Bashir seemed to relish in the attention. He said, “Innocent till proven guilty!” and “Over night fame!”He also became a fan on Talib Kweli’s Facebook page.

Below is a video of the alleged theft.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Game & Spider Loc End Beef? Epic Fail: Freaknik 2010!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on. SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING!!!!!

THE GAME AND SPIDER LOC SQUASH BEEF?

I’m certainly not sure if this is true, but the streets of LA are talking to me. They are talking. I am hearing the The Game and Spider Loc of G-Unit are talking and the talk is about squashing beef. As you know, nobody in G-Unit could possibly be down with the Game. Could this rumor be a part of the West Coast Rising we’ve been talking about recently? Maybe. Don’t take it to the bank though. Spider Loc is now following The Game on twitter, if that means anything. Anybody that knows more, let me know.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

Freaknik.

What made somebody think they could bring back Freaknik? LMAO! I mean, back in the day, Freaknik was the spring break thing to do for people that were in college and not in college. Nevertheless, it was a place where everybody could go to be all free and liberated sexually. Basically, get your freak on and watch freaks get their freak on. Well, uh…that was like well over 10 years ago. So, over the weekend, they had “Freaknik 2010.” I wasn’t there and nobody I know would dare risk going there this decade. But I ddi read some reports about it. One report said that police were telling people to pull up their pants. HUH? That ain’t Freaknik! They also said that the police told people to go home. LOL! One dude told ajc.com, “There’s no music or anything, just people standing next to the police.” FAIL! Another cop said, “We had some hooligans, but it has pretty much been real quiet. We are letting them hang out until they get bored and go home.” LOL!!!!!! The cops owned Freaknik. Oh well…better luck next year.

SIGNS THE WORD IS COMING TO AN END

A UK retail clothing line is selling freakin’ bathing suits with a padded bikini tops. You know how girls used to stuff their bras with toilet paper? These were teens. This bikinis for sale are fro girls as young as 7-years-old. The government of the UK jumped in and accused the manufacturer of pushing “premature sexualization” to young kids. I agree! Not only that, this is like a pedophiles paradise. Luckily the chain complied with the request took it down, before a boycott mounted on them.

FREAKNIK: STAY IN THE 90s!!!!!!Give us something fresh and new!

FREAKNIK, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Lloyd Banks Replies To Shyne Diss

(AllHipHop News) G-Unit member Lloyd Banks has responded to a diss record released earlier this week, that features Brooklyn rapper Shyne dissing G-Unit boss, 50 Cent. On a recently released a track titled “Unthinkable,” Shyne goes hard at 50 Cent on the track, calling the Queens rapper out by name in a verse. Shyne continued a feud that has been brewing since 2004 when he rapped: “I need a couple million, F**k 50 Cent” on the track. Lloyd Banks recently addressed the matter on Hot 97 with Miss Info.“I’ll be the first to tell you and the world. He’s very, very wack right now. Very wack,” Lloyd Banks told Miss Info.  Banks implied that Shyne’s eight-year stint in federal prison for a 1999 shootout inside a New York nightclub had left him rusty. “It was something in the food,  it was something,” Lloyd Banks said. “He’s a D-class rapper to me right now. You know, the dude that just wakes up and says ‘I’ma rap now?’ What kind of style does he got right now? I’m not diggin’ that. There’s no reason to hate him, I’m doing good. That ni**as wack. His whole slang changed up. He’s wack. (laughs).”Lloyd Banks is putting the finishing touches on his new mixtape, Hunger for More 2.

Scott Storch Helps Produce Dr. Dr/Jay-Z Single “Under Pressure”

(AllHipHop News) Scott Storch is quickly getting back into swing of the music game by lending his hit-making skills to the highly anticipated Dr. Dre single “Under Pressure,” a song that features Jay-Z.

The song, which has yet to leak, is a huge move for the Philadelphia-bred musician, according to a company working closely with Storch.

“To see Scott Storch and Dr. Dre back together, signifies the change in the music industry climate as we know it. This will definitely get the industry back in step with the world,” said Derek Jackson of the Bluewave Group, Inc. Storch serves as the Vice President of Creative, according to the company’s profile.

When AllHipHop.com talked to Storch in December 2009, he was about to jump on a plane to Los Angeles to work with Dre in California.

He wouldn’t divulge much but said, “That seems to be his trend and every time he comes out, its amazing. I don’t want to spill the beans on exactly the direction he’s going but its definitely different than that last one.”

Storch and Dr. Dre have worked together at great lengths in the past, including “Still D.R.E,” (which was written by Jay-Z), The Chronic 2000 and a plethora of other works.

Hip-Hop Rumors: No Eric B/ Nicki Minaj Beef! Rick Ross & Nicki: Diddy’s Client? Epic Fails!

THE DAILY TWO SENSE!It JUST occured to me that my Friday rumors DIDN’T PUBLISH!!!! WOW! I didn’t even know. Click here to see those. There’s a 2 for 1 on a Saturday.

ERIC B AIN’T BEEFIN’ WITH NICKI MINAJ!

LOL! We were wondering what the hell was going on! Eric B in a beef with Nicki Minaj? So, I got the big boss at AHH to see what was up from  Eric B himself and he said, “Its some bulls**t. My twitter is EricbNYLA.” The other Twitter account  in question is from EricBandRakim, which is a twitter that Eric B does not send messages from that one. His EricBNYLA is verified by the way.

DIDDY’S NEW CLIENT: NICKI AND RICK ROSS?

A good friend recently told me that Rick Ross was now being managed by Diddy, which was news to me. Nevertheless, I just kind of took it as news/rumors that I had missed and kept it moving. And, they have been working closely so it made sense. Now people are also saying that Nicki Minaj is being managed by Diddy too. Really? My sources have been saying others for a week or so now. Could be true, but since when did Diddy get in the management business? From what I understand, he has a manager himself that is a big dog in the game. It could be a new company that they own or something. Its weird that people care who is being managed by who. Its just stupid industry stuff to me.

Is Nicki about to tour with Lady Gaga? That would be the come up.

JAY-Z AND KANYE TAKE OVER COMICS’ BACHELOR PARTY?

British comic Russell Brand likes Jay and ‘Ye so much he got them to organize his bachelor party.  Dude is about to marry Katy Perry on New Year’s Eve. Katy got Rihanna to organize her bachelorette party, so Russie countered. Kanye told More magazine, “I think we’ll start in New York at Jay-Z’s club for a night or two, then take Jay’s private jet over to Vegas. We’re inviting Simon Cowell, so we’re going to have a choice of private jets!” Well, isn’t that special.

 JAY ROCK SAYS:

The Game suggested that people going at Ice Cube need to apologize. Nobody knows if he was talking about Jay Rock, but Mr. Rock took the liberty to respond.

 He said:

I GET ON TWITTER N EVERYBODY HITTING ME SAYN @ihategameGETTING @ ME IN HIS FREESTYLE. SAME AS CUBE, N##### NEED TO HAVE BALLS TO SAY NAMES

IM NOT SCARED TO GO AGAINST NOBODY ALL N#### HAVE TO DO IS SAY MY NAME AND ITS ON WITH WHO EVER .I DONT FEEL I NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO NO1

They really might not be talking about Jay Rock. Neither Cube nor Game have EVER held their tongue when it comes to naming names.

 KAT STACKS SLOSHED?

I don’t know what this video means, but this video is starting rumors that Stacky Baby is on drugs. I can’t say if she is or isn’t but she sure is strange. “I’m from the streets, dawg!”

DAMN HOMEY!

The unverified Usher’s ex Tomeka for lying about a hack on her twitter page.I’m tellin’ ya…twitter is the feds!  I don’t want to be verified!

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

There are rumors about Nicki Minaj’s age. I personally don’t care, but from what I have been told, she is 25, not 27. Does it really matter? 2 years?

The Game’s next single is with Justin Timberlake and I’m hearing it should be leaked very soon. Maybe the Pharrell joint was just a teaser.

Jay-Z did Coachella yesterday, but I’ve heard nothing about Dr. Dre coming out and doing “Under Pressure.”

Shout out to Lydon in the UK! He gave me a rumor about Mos Def. It was a strange one indeed about a show there.

Danny Glover got arrested yesterday for protesting labor conditions in Maryland. Joe Biden was there too, but he didn’t get knocked.

Kim Kardashian has been linked to another football player – a soccer dude named Cristiano Ronaldo.

 RANDOM QUOTE

Flesh-N-Bone from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony tells the AP he didn’t hit his mama:

“It didn’t happen. I would never do anything like that to my mother. Anyone that think I would do something like need to check themselves.”

 EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

This dude needs to have his a$$ tore up! Im sure you read about it, but I have to comment on it. New Jersey, what’s up with this? Matthew Clemmens, 21, was jailed after he vomited on an off-duty police CAPTAIN and his 11-year-old daughter during a Phillies game. I don’t know what this fool was rooting for or against, but he stuck two of his fingers in his throat and let loose on the Captain and his kid. The Cap had several of his kids with him and the 11 year old caught it. Well, people didn’t let Clemmens off the hook. Michael Vangelo, the cap’n, said the dude did that throw up thing after his friend got kicked out of the arena. Well, the people around him restrained him and somebody did clock him in the eye for doing that mess. Here ya go:

Clemmens  was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and related offenses, says the AP.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

How did he get out of jail? Exactly who was the judge overseeing this case? After 10 years in jail, the “HIV Predator” aka NuShawn Williams of New York (you reading this NYC?????) is OUT. This dude had unprotected sex with almost 50 people, a number of which were underage. He also gave HIV to a 13 year old baby and another baby of his was born with HIV. He infected 13 women (that they know of) and had six kids by them. WOW! Shouldn’t he be under a jail or something? Remember that name yall. NuShawn Williams. He’s free. ..for now.

NuShawn Williams –they are trying to lock him up again so he doesn’t do this again.

FAT JOE AND JEEZY!

This is behind the scenes of the new Fat Joe banger, with Jeezy. You have to give Joe some credit. Dude is in rap for the long haul – real talk!

 KIM AND OTHERS POSE NUDE

I take your K.K. and raise you my girl Joy Bryant! Joy looking riiiiiiiiiiiight!

JAY-Z AND BETTY WHITE: A PERFECT COMBINATION

Rich Kids in Hip-Hop: Who Said the Gates Were Closed?

[Editor’s note: This post is a direct response to Tolu Olorunda’s

editorial entitled, “Rich

Kids in Hip-Hop: Who Let the Gates Open?“]Editor’s note: The

views expressed inside this editorial aren’t necessarily the views of

AllHipHop.com or its employees.I’m writing this because I’m so sick of limiting beliefs in rap music. I’m sick of the idea that you can’t make a significant contribution to the art form because your dad was a hip-hop pioneer (Diggy Simmons) or that you can’t be real if you’re a half Jewish kid from Canada who was on a teen TV show (Drake).

In his editorial Tolu writes, “The working-class kid in me wants to know why Hip-Hop fans would submit their precious time to the abuse of spoon-fed, pampered, nannied, chauffeur-carried brats who know next to nothing of growing up with no assurance [of] ‘where your meal’s coming from.’”

Well, the upper middle class kid in me wants to know why not? Why not? Where in the hip-hop rulebook does it say that if someone is born into an advantageous situation that their opinion is void? Or to take it further that their contributions are abusive?

I love hip-hop. I’ve dedicated my entire professional career to it. I used to subscribe to Vibe magazine when it was oversized. I put up posters on my wall. I laboriously made mixtapes using the radio, scotch tape and cassettes. I went to Hot 97’s SummerJam religiously. I transcribed lyrics into composition notebooks for fun. And I did this all from my privileged, upper middle class home. In my opinion, the gates to the almighty kingdom of hip-hop were never closed to the fortunate.

In fact, I know the gates have always opened wide for a rich kid who wanted to support their favorite artist by purchasing an album, shelling out for concert tickets and dropping some change at the merch stand as well. I guess money gets past the gatekeepers but thought provoking poetry gets turned away.

Hip-hop is not about exclusion. At this point, I’d like to turn it over to one of our forefathers, DJ Kool Herc. In the introduction to Jeff Chang’s book “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” he wrote:

“To me hip-hop says, ‘Come as you are.’ We are a family. It’s about you and me, connecting one to one. That’s why it has universal appeal. It has given people a way to understand their world, whether they are from the suburbs or the city or wherever. I think hip-hop has bridged the culture gap. It brings white kids together with black kids, brown kids with yellow kids. They all have something that they love. It gets past the stereotypes and people hating each other because of those stereotypes.”

Working-class kids, Tolu writes, can teach us about nihilism and fatalism while privileged youngsters don’t have “much to inform about life and hardship, about struggle and pain, about uncertainty and destiny.”

Are. you. kidding. me?

Ever hear the Notorious B.I.G. song “Mo Money Mo Problems”? Anyone who is living knows about life. We ALL know about hardship, struggle, pain, uncertainty and destiny. It’s mighty presumptuous to assume that you know what other people are or aren’t going through internally. Does Tolu know the pressure that comes with having to follow in massive footsteps?  People who come from success automatically have a bigger fear of failure because they have more to lose.  How about giving the little dudes some credit for putting themselves out there?

Tolu knocks Aubrey “Drake” Graham because he “rolled out the womb into a golden crib,” but does he really know Drake’s story? Is it remotely possible that he had hardships just like everyone else?

Here’s what Drake told me in an interview about how he started rapping.

“Actually the way I really started writing was my father was in jail and there was an inmate there that used to share my dad’s phone time. He had nobody to talk to. He used to spit rhymes to me over the phone I used to listen to him ‘til the phone would cut off. I would listen and I liked it. I liked the whole rap thing so I would start writing and we would start sharing it. Eventually my dad got out and from there I just continued it.”

I offer this, not because I want to prove Drake’s “street cred,” but because I want to challenge the assumptions fans and critics have about artists who don’t come from the most impoverished backgrounds. Just because Aubrey (as the close minded hardcore hip-hop types like to call him) doesn’t constantly rhyme about his father being behind bars that doesn’t mean that it didn’t affect him during his developmental years. It may have shaped his whole perspective on life. It may drive everything he does, every bar that he spits.

Why are people are so quick to dismiss others before they actually know where they are coming from?

Tolu likes Nas “for the wisdom sprawled liberally from his lips to our ears.”

So do I. But I don’t think that we should limit your wisdom providers to the people who come from the inner city. To quote Jay-Z, “that sounds stupid to me.” As someone who came from a “privileged upbringing” I felt the Ghostface Killah lyrics that he cited at the beginning of his editorial to my core (“All That I Got Is You”). No, I never had to “survive winters, snotty nosed with no coats” but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t know “cousins and aunts” who were there with “roaches everywhere.” It doesn’t mean I can’t comprehend or appreciate those words.

Likewise, someone who knows “real struggle” might be able to relate to Diggy’s desire to do something on his own, or Drake’s admission that he sometimes makes the wrong decisions or Kanye West’s passion for fighting what he believes in.

I, for one, would rather take my rappers rich and impassioned over poor and complacent any day.  Just because someone comes from poverty doesn’t mean that they have more value to give than the guy who appears to be rapping with a silver spoon in his mouth.

I think that it’s this train of thought that gives us rappers like Rick Ross, who’s embarrassed to admit that he held down a respectable job before making it big, and Plies, who hems and haws when asked if he was the valedictorian of his class.  We’re scaring off great wordsmiths.  We’re encouraging our “stars” to lie to us and in the end we’re only shortchanging ourselves.

I think that we should support, with our dollars, any artist that is living and rapping authentically, regardless of his current financial situation. In turn, we’ll get more artists that will make meaningful and purposeful contributions to our lives. Besides, after one successful album that wise street soldier that you love so much suddenly has way more in common with the rich kid than he does with you.

Instead of questioning, “who let the gates open” why don’t we just celebrate the fact that they are open and that everyone from the projects to the penthouse has an equal chance to make a difference.

Rick Ross Claims Victory in DJ Vlad Assault Case Decision

Rick Ross is proclaiming victory over a verdict where he was ordered to pay $300,000 in punitive and compensatory damages to DJ Vlad (Vlad Lyubovni).

The case was resulted in a August 2008 incident where members of Ross’ entourage assaulted DJ Vlad at the Ozone Awards over the deejay posting comedic images of Ross dressed as a correctional officer.

The attack left Vlad with 7 stitches below the eye, fractures to the face, a corneal abrasion, broken nose, and nerve damage.

Court documents from Vlad’s complaint stated that Ross sent text messages preceding the attack, although Vlad believed they were meeting to discuss an exclusive story.

“N##### will learn…trillaaa,” Ross is alleged to have sent to Vlad. “I’m hearing things about me on your website. We gonna make a story. We gonna see each other. We going to talk. Where are you?”

Ross referenced the ruling as a proof of his John Gotti-inspired nickname.

“The Teflon Don strikes again!” Ross told MTV News. “I’ve been fighting a $4 million dollar lawsuit for the past 2 years. My defense was a success. I have to salute my attorney Xavier Donaldson. “

Even though he will pay out a 6 figure judgment, Ross is relieved the sum is far lower than the original $4 million case filing.

“Whenever an artist or anybody is put in a position such as a lawsuit where so much evidence is presented [with] tapes etcetera etcetera, and giving the plaintiff less than 10 percent of what they requested, I consider my defense a success. God bless America,” he explained.

DJ Vlad was satisfied with the judgment, stating he was simply reporting and continuing the discussion on the Smoking Gun website’s original expose that revealed Ross once worked as a correctional officer.

“As an individual that covers breaking news in the Hip-Hop world, I am grateful that the jury punished Rick Ross for setting me up,” Vlad disclosed in a statement. “All I was doing was covering the news and making commentary.”

Rick Ross latest album Teflon Don is expected to be released this summer.
