What is the world is going on? I got a rumor that DMX is about to start doing some MMA boxing at a celebrity match. Yeah. From what I understand, this is true and it is coming to Birmingham, Alabama. DMX will face Eric Martinez. I wonder what this means for the Dog. Do you think this is a good move for him considering where his career is?

QUEEN PEN IN THE HOSPITAL
I am not sure what happened, but last week sometime, Queen Pen celebrated her birthday. The only thing is, when she was “celebrating,” she was admitted to the hospital for some reason or another. I really don’t have much info on this any more, but wish her well. Seems like a lot of Hip-Hoppers are going to the hospital in one way or another. Take care of yourself, people!

R.I.P. Derrion Albert: Solutions To Violence In Our Communities
We are beyond angry, passionate editorials about the murder of our youth.
We are beyond the ambulance chasing, past the reactionary moves that only result in more ambulance chasing and reactionary moves.
The murder of Derrion Albert was so egregious, so flagrant and so disgusting that most on the AHH staff were speechless and sorrowful. All of us have had our bouts with violence, from different races – not just Black. Yet, this was particularly disturbing.
A young honor roll student headed home from school and unknowingly gets caught in the crossfire of a daytime gang fight. One gang beats him down with huge objects like 2-by-4 poles and then facets from the other gang stomp his head as he lay unconscious. When it was all done, Derrion Albert was dead in the streets of Chicago.
Sadly, Derrion is just one case that was caught on camera. He was just one death in what seems like an endless number of senseless tragedies.
There is another side. Most people hold the killers in contempt, as they should, but we should be reminded that these young gang bangers are a product of America. They weren’t shipped in from some other country and dropped into Chicago, U.S.A. to wreak havoc on the innocents of the country. They were made HERE.
Now is the time for the community to exact real sustained change and action towards swaying the tide of violence that plague our communities, which are disproportionately Black and Brown. There are wars abroad and there are wars home. We need more soldier dispatched into our own streets.
We are asking the AllHipHop Community to collectively brain storm on ways that we can help curb violence. One method that AHH has actively adopted is mentorship and this is one solution we encourage. If you are an elder or a more mature young person, please take another under your wing. Teach them a skill, guide them through life to avoid some of the pitfalls that face all of us. This is merely one option, but there are so many others.
Please, offer some solutions that can ripple on to help create a better future for this generation and those to come.
DMX Heading To Ring In Boxing Match
Rap star DMX will step into the ring against musician Eric Martinez this December, on the under card of the Tank Abbott/ Butterbean fight.
Thunder Promotions has announced that DMX will square off against Martinez during a boxing match on December 12 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Martinez is the CEO of Power Moves Entertainment, a record label, management firm, and event promotion company based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to Martinez bio, he is an official member of DMXs management team and will wrestle the rapper during the event, which is dubbed Alabama Pride.
Alabama Pride kicks takes place December 12 at 8:00 PM in Birmingham, Alabama.
DMX is currently working on two albums with producer Swizz Beatz.
RZA: Breaks Down the Ghostface Killah Lawsuit
Last week, AllHipHop.com reported that Ghostface Killah had won a legal judgment against the RZAs Wu-Tang Productions for over $158,000 in unpaid royalties. The dispute centered around Ghosts claim that royalties from the Wus early albums should have been divided as a promotional share amongst group members, instead of the 50% split given to the producer (The RZA). Dogged by similar lawsuits over the decade by other Wu members, the RZA reached out to not only set the record straight from his side, but to also enlist the opinion of you, the AllHipHop readers, on this combustible issue. Whose stance do you side with? Hear out the Abbott and decide.
The case between Ghost and RZA is not closed yet. The judgment has not been entered yet, and we are appealing the case. Im not appealing because I dont want to pay Ghost something that I owe him. Anything I owe him I would give him. He wouldnt have to go through the courts to get it from me.
An example is on Cuban Linx I didnt charge no money on Raekwon for that. The last beats I did for Ghost was Run and some other sh*t, and it was the same thing. I waived payments for later. They havent paid me for those. So its not about me getting money. But hes with a group of people who to me have a misunderstanding of Hip-Hop and contracts.
I have a legal contract with Wu-Tang Productions, matter of fact all of us do for 50% of what we get. We all signed that. We signed that years ago and maybe Ghost feels differently now, and I can respect that. But when it comes to the beats of Hip-Hop, how it carries on to this day is that the producer gets 50% of the composition, and the lyricist, no matter how many, gets the other 50%. So for them to say thats wrong, and the producer shouldnt get 50%, that means every producer is this industry can now have a potential claim against them from an artist. Remember, we dont sign contracts in studios. So when Erick Sermon produced on The Blackout, he got 50%. When Megahertz produced We Pop for me, its me and four other rappers. Megahertz got 50%, and me and the other rappers had to split the rest of it.
Now if theres an unknown producer that Im using and Im trying to break him in, I may lower his cut if I got Meth and GZA on there. Like yo, youll have to fall back on some of that s### because were going to ship 500,000 units and thats where youll make money. Those types of cases I could see it being different. But 90% of the cases in the game the producer gets 50% and the lyricist gets 50%. And on Ghosts new album its going to be the same case. So for me to be in court and the argument is my split is wrong and has been over the years [is crazy]. They added up the years and said if you would have given him the portion due it would be $158,000.
Theyve made millions based on my beats and bringing forth the reality of the Wu-Tang Clan. If I wasnt the producer and it was just a contract thing, maybe Id feel more compassion. But trust me, when it comes to doing these records, Im in the studio hundreds of days where theyre here for 20-30 days. Im in mastering, everywhere. The beat is made before you even get to the studio 80% of the time. The beats are made on my own time then brought to the studio, tracked down with me and the engineer, and then youre brought in to do your 16 bars. [laughs] Then I EQ your s###! When you look at all those albums it dont just say Produced by the RZA. It says Produced and Arranged by the RZA. Some people thought I was lying when I said that. I work the boards; Im a genius at all that s###.
Ghost made a deal with someone who thought they should get more from him than what theyve got. So theyre trying to infringe on the Wu-Tang brand. Ghosts catalogue is his catalogue, and now they want to try to get into our catalogue. Theyre trying through him. So because these n##### are telling you yo, you shouldve gotten this, youre going to listen to them after all the years weve been together? Thats improper.
Im only appealing it aint right for no producer in our business to have to potentially go through this. Its been like this for over 100 years where the producer gets 50%.Now with some rock songs its 33%. One person will get it for the basic harmony, one person will get it for the melody line, and one for the lyrics. because in those days a songwriter could write a song like Memories and hell write but not the music to it. Then hell get it to another guy who makes the melody line, and then hell give it someone who comes with the harmonies. Hip-Hop dont work like that. Its just the beat and a rap.
Id like to get the opinion of your readers. If the RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan produced all the beats and taken 50% for beat production, do you think its fair that the producer get 50%? If you dont think its fair and you agree with Ghost, do you think all producers who work with Ghost outside of Wu-Tang should get 50%? Thats basically the argument here. Every producer outside of the RZA thats worked with him has gotten 50%. The only one being challenged here is me. Im not being challenged because I didnt do the work. Im being challenged because I get pressure on somebody coming at him trying to get into my business. Ghost knows this as actual fact that all he do is throw his rhymes in.
Like I said to Ghost I can name 2 songs out of everything we did that he can say was his idea. And even when he came with the idea, I had to make it happen. All I Got Is You, you loved that song and always wanted to sample it. I sampled and looped it together, and I got Mary to come in for the hook. I did everything a producer would do. And the second song was the one from that movie, uh-oh-ah! [Writers Note: Vocal sample from Cornbread, Earl, and Me used to create Ironmans Black Jesus.]. You said how can we sample it, and I figured out a way to do it. And I threw the drums on it, and broke it down to what it was. Those are the only two! And its not in dispute. Songs like Bring Da Ruckus I made 2 years before they even rapped on it. Songs like Can It Be So Simple anybody could have got on that. It had the hook, beat, and the lift from the beginning. They threw their verses on it.
Me as the producer I sit in the house all day and make beats. And I put hooks on a lot of mine by sampling the vocal hooks. So for them to say differently really offends me and Im sure it offends all producers. So again, is it right for RZA to receive less than 50% when every other producer for Ghostface has received 50% for every beat hes made from him: from Pete Rock to every unknown n#### producing for him thats using my sound. Whats so bad is their using my sound getting 50% and here I am the inventor of the sound getting scrutinized. Id love to see the answers well get on this. I know its a lot, but thats what it is.
Rapper Yung Berg Addresses Assault Video
Chicago rapper Yung Berg has responded to a shocking new video that hit the internet featuring the rapper engaged in a fight, where he was apparently assaulted.
Yesterday (September 28), a grainy video was released show showing the rapper and a dozen men engaged in a brawl on the street.
According to Yung Berg, the video is not new and was shot at least two years ago. The melee was caused due to a dispute with his former manager.
“I seen a lot of s**t in my life right. But that footage you saw earlier is some of the most wretched, swine, f**king w#### footage I ever seen in my f**king life. How dare you fraud ass n***as put that out there, I knew it was coming personally because it was only 2 ½ years ago.
Berg himself analyzed the footage, so that he could assess what went down.
Punching me in the back of the head while I am talking to somebody else, that must be like some of the fraudest s**t I ever seen in my life.
According to Yung Berg, he is looking to the future with his new projects and remaining humble, while putting his past incidents behind him.

MOVIE REVIEW: “More Than A Game” with LeBron James
By the end of “More Than A Game,” it is quite possible that you or somebody around you will be in tears.
This documentary has been mistakenly pigeonholed as a basketball movie or even a movie about megastar LeBron James. “More Than A Game” is much more than that, as the title suggests. The movie is a tale is one of four (and eventually five) friends that come to prominence in Ohio that have one unifier. Basketball.
The move stars LeBron James and his long-term friends Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee, who played together in middle school and then the prestigious St Mary’s High School. This must-see movie chronicles the players rise to national fame, but also how they dealt with that success before they made any money.
The ride was not without bumps in the road.
The team had to overcome several obstacles on and off the court, which resulted in near-catastrophic results. They also were forced to contend with their own backgrounds, where they had to deal with self-esteem issues, poverty and fatherlessness.
On aspect of the movie that is overlooked in the trailer and at times in the movie is the significance of Coach Dru Joyce, Sr (father to Dru Joyce). Coach Joyce acts as a father figure to some and a life coach to others as he simultaneously helps the boys transition into manhood.
The movie also delves into the coach’s past as well, as he never intended to be a basketball coach.
The team, through skill and will, manage to drudge their way to the state finals yearly and other national tournaments.
The hardships endured – both as individuals and as a unit – actually strengthen the family bonds that are created. Ultimately, they form the Fab Five, an unstoppable force.
From a cinematic standpoint, “More Than A Game” is appealing as well. Director Kristopher Belman takes old images and animates by separating the layers of the pictures. Grainy file footage is augmented and enhanced by current commentary. The storytelling is often very clean – like a feature film – but does not ever suggest fraudulence or deception. This is the real deal, a far more successful version of “Hoop Dreams.”
“More Than A Game” is highly recommended, because it is likely you will see some of yourself or somebody you know in these men. If not, viewers will certainly cheer, scream and cry at the trials and tribulations that solidified a place in history for all involved.

Nas Speaks Out on Chicago Teen Slaying
Over the last two days the nation has been aghast at footage showing a 16 year old Chicago student being beaten to death in a gang-related mass brawl.
The student, Derrion Albert, was viciously attacked with board planks outside his school. While others fought around him, Albert went down and was repeatedly stomped in the head and punched.
Witnesses finally came to his aid, and a female friend screamed for him to wake up as he was picked up and brought to safety. Later, the honor roll student succumbed to his head injuries.
It was later discovered that Albert was not involved in either gang, but became a target during the melee.
Four teens have been arrested in connection with the murder: Silvanus Shannon (19), Eric Carson (16), Eugene Riley (18), and Eugene Bailey (17). In a taped confession, Shannon admitted that he jumped on the victims head, although Albert never attacked him.
Nas, who lost his close friend Willie Ill Will Graham to senseless violence in 1992, addressed his open letter to teens wasting their lives in gang warfare against each other.

Nas recounted his own conflicted emotions growing up, and how he can relate to the teens in Chicago despite growing up in an earlier time and location.
I remember feeling like I was the hardest n***a breathing. And I couldnt wait to prove it. But lets think. What are we really proving? And proving what to who? Nas challenged. Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being your brother from another state feels your pain as if I grew up with you in your very own household. You have the ability and mind power to change they way we are looked at.
Look whos watching us young warriors, look whos throwing us in jail constantly, look at the ignorance in the world. Look at the racist dogs who love to see us down. Loving to bury us in the ground or in jail where we continue this worthless war on one another. Young warriors, we are wasting more and more time. We got to get on our jobs and take over the world. In closing, Nas bluntly framed the street wars as destruction against ones self, and said a prayer for the slain teenager.
When we see each other why do we see hatred? Why were we born in a storm, born soldiers, warriors, and instead of building each other up we are at war with each other, he detailed. May the soul of this young person find peace with the Almighty. Im with you young warriors. Youre me and Im you. But trust me! You are fighting the wrong war.
At press time, the four arrested teens are being held without bond and face first degree murder charges. Every one is expected to be charged as adults.

Derrion Albert was a 16-year-old honor student that was going to a community center where he would go after school. Derrion was an innocent bystander that ended up getting beaten with two-by-fours and stomped on his head until he died in the streets of Chicago. Here is the catch, if you didnt know the whole thing was caught on video tape. So, all of the killers were identified and arrested and confessed. This is some B####### and you know we censor cusses, but I want it to be known. This is sickening to see people act this way. Let them live the rest of their days in jail, rotting like a dead piece of flesh. Their parents need to be held accountable in some way too. This is pathetic. All of this degenerate mess is pathetic.

Privacy Lawsuit Against Dr. Dre Reopened
Two years after the case was thrown out, Michigan appeals judges Elizabeth Gleicher and Michael Kelly have ruled that Dr. Dre must answer charges that he infringed on the privacy rights of three Detroit employees by taping their conversations.
The suit stems from a July 2000 concert stop of Dres memorable Up In Smoke Tour.
The employees were secretly videotaped as they urged the concert promoters to not show the audience a video prop containing nudity.
The footage was later showcased on a DVD chronicling the tour. While the workers held the taping violated their privacy rights, Wayne County Judge John A. Murphy dismissed the case in 2007.
He cited that the workers had no claim to privacy, since their conversation took place in a room with an open door.
The two appeals judges reversed the decision this year, stating we reject the notion that as a matter of law, parties may not conduct a private conversation in a public place, or a location when nonparticipants in the conversation are physically present. ”
Furthermore, the judges specified that Dr. Dres distribution of the conversation to a nationwide audience deprived the participants of their right to control the reach of their words.
At press time, a new court date has not been announced. Dr. Dres serially delayed Detox is still slated for release this year, although no set date has been verified.

Apl.de.Ap Organizes Relief Efforts for Phillipine Hurricane Victims
The Black-Eyed Peas Apl.de.Ap is reaching out to fans in hopes that they will support his efforts to raise relief funds for flood victims in his native Philippines.
In a statement released today (September 28), Apl announced that his imprint, Jeepney Music will be accepting donations on behalf of the Apl Foundation online at www.jeepneymusic.com.
So far, 140 people have been reported dead in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, two days after Typhoon Ketsana dumped more than 16 inches of rain on the city.
The storm, known locally as Typhoon Ondoy, has caused over $30 million in damages including lost crops, damaged roads and bridges.
While the waters have receded from most of Manilas flooded areas, some parts of the city remain cut off, while mud and garbage make travelling around the rest of the city difficult.
As a result, many of the citys 15 million residents are still trapped in flooded houses and looking for missing relatives. As a result, the death toll is expected to rise.
“My heart is broken to see so many of my Filipino brothers and sisters hurt by this disaster, said Apl, who was recently named the Creative Ambassador to his homeland. We must all bond together and move forward to restore the city we hold dear. I’m asking the global community for their support and donations to assist the thousands of Filipinos affected by this tragedy.”
As the hurricane rages on towards Vietnam, officials in the Philippines have also reached out to the international community for support.
Philippine President Gloria Arroyo called the storm an extreme event that has strained our response capabilities to the limit.
Its a once-in-a-lifetime typhoon, she said in a statement. We are continuing the rescue efforts until everyone in danger is accounted for.
In a nationally televised update on the situation, local defense secretary Gilberto Teodoro added that the government is appealing for international humanitarian assistance as the administration continues to come under fire for its delayed response to the tragedy.

I got word from my homey Jo from Germany on what the issues were surrounding the G8 Summit. Sure, I could go read the paper or something, but I wanted to hear it from a credible voice. Here is what Jo told me:
The G8 gets so much protest because they only represent some of the richest countries and do not care much about developing countries, especially the sub-Saharan Africa region. However they still make decisions that affect the whole world (especially regarding financial and trade agreements).
Also, the G8 are not actually the 8 most powerful economies, China is missing.
The police “guarding” the protests seem to become more and more violent, like they killed a guy here in London this year!
COLDPLAY FANS HATED ON JAY?
I also got a weird email that really disturbed me! Remember how Jay-Z gave Coldplay’s Chris Martin that massive hug that resulted in them falling down? Well, it would seem that the Coldplay fans wouldn’t appreciate that same love from Jay! I didn’t report much on what is going on with those shows in the UK, but I heard that the CP fans didn’t really give Jay-Z a lot of “love” when he performed at Wembley area. SMH. That is just a testament to the audio versatility of the Hip-Hop audience. We like everybody.
MASHONDA BLOCKING THE DIVORCE?
I don’t know how divorce works to be honest, but I have been hit with some info that suggests that Mashonda, Swizz’s present wife has been refusing to get divorced. A source that may or may not be reliable said the following, “As to why the divorce isnt final, rumor is Mashonda REFUSES to let it be finalized and is holding on for dear life thinking Swizzy will wake up or A. Keys will be the Superwoman she sang about and walk away from him.” Alicias album The Element of Freedom drops December 1st. I wonder if this is good or bad press? Nevertheless, Mashonda is clearly hurting badly.

Pharoahe Monch has had varying degrees of success in Hip-Hop. Clearly, he’s a star, but he hasn’t reached that zenith of success that he probably deserves for his many talents. Well according to a recent twitter post, Pharoahe Monch has decided to go the indie route. From what I understand, he basically said that the labels sadly no longer know how to deal with somebody that is “creatively different from what and who’s hot now.”

Canibus & Keith Murray Release “The Undergods”
Rappers Keith Murray and Canibus have announced their debut EP The Undergods will hit stores digitally tomorrow.
The pairs self-titled debut collaborative album is slated to land in the iTunes music store via the Seattle-based record label, Sound Records.
Essentially the name symbolizes underground and then you know gods with it. The aspect of where we been rhyming from since the inception of our careers, even though they happened at different times, Canibus stated. We mastered certain aspects of lyricism and hip-hop so and thats how you but the gods there. We mixed it up that way.
Sounds Records was launched 18 months ago buy owners Kenny Stumbo and Noah Hartkopf.
In addition to Keith Murray and Canibus, the labels roster includes Bronze Nazareth, Project Lionheart and Bekker.
According to both Canibus and Keith Murray, their friendship started around 1995, based off a mutual love for blunts or cigars filled with marijuana.
According to reps for Sound Records, The Undergods EP will feature production by The Beatminerz, Amadeus, Gordo and Hip-Hop legend Erick Sermon.
We did a record together for one of our mutual friends, but we were in two different parts of New York, added Keith Murray. So I just said yo let me get Bis number. Call him up and said lets put together an album. From there we got backing and went into a multi-million dollar studio, got a platinum award winning engineer so it come out right crispy and industry standard. And here we are with the energy that we set in motion 15 years ago.
Fans were treated to an early glimpse of the album in June, when the track 129 was leaked to the Internet.
