A crowd exciter, a visionary writer and one of the most influential rappers for over two decades, KRS-One, took the Hip-Hop scene by storm in 1987 with partner DJ Scott La Rock and hasn’t looked back since. He’s crafted 20 albums and dropped gems on nearly innumerable guest appearances.
While he has battled fellow rappers, he has also identified problems and built solutions through song and deed. There isn’t an area of Hip-Hop that hasn’t been redefined by KRS-One (Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Every One). The Blast Master continues to do what he does best. In this candid sit down, the legendary rapper discusses his career, books, Barack Obama, and his vow to the music of the 90s.
AllHipHop.com: What do you think about Barack Obama being President?
KRS-One: I think hes doing a great job. I think hes doing an excellent job right now. Heres why I say hes doing an excellent job, because he inherited a huge problem from previous administrations with and just spending seven trillion dollars, they somewhere in the back room just printing money. Money is not backed by gold anymore. It aint even backed by credit anymore. They just in the back room printing that money. He ran on change. Barack said, Yo. When Im in office, things gonna change. Everybody said, Yeahhhh. Now its changing. Everybody is like, Ughhhh. We dont want it to change. Especially the Conservatives and the Republicans are having a real hard time with the change.
Now, me, I am Hip-Hop. Heres a controversial piece right here. Im not afraid of a New World Order because Hip-Hop is already global. When they have a new world order, we got ourselves a true new world order. Hip-Hop has been immune to all of that, were recession proof, were a new world order proof, FBI proof, CIA proof, counter intelligence proof, because we realize you limit yourself by calling yourself this or that. We will call ourselves Hip-Hop and we will limit ourselves to that but that is universal. I am consciousness. Im not this, this is me? This brown skin, cmon, thats not me. Im so far beyond this room right now. Right now when I speak to you, Im practicing my rhymes.
AllHipHop.com: Tell us about your origins and evolution as an emcee. What are your earliest memories with music and when did you begin rapping?
KRS-One: My earliest recollection as an emcee was when I was born.
AllHipHop.com: What drives you to make music?
KRS-One: Two things. One, my sense of spirituality. My duty to Hip-Hop and then art. Im an artist. I like art.
Hip-Hop is wonderful right now. Rap music is whats having a little trouble because so many artists base their careers on selling a CD, a record or a cassette, selling a DVD, they werent really an emcee, they were music merchants.
-KRS-One
AllHipHop.com: What do you think about the state of Hip-Hop now?
KRS-One: Remember youre talking to the orthodox so when you say Hip-Hop Hip-Hop is wonderful right now. Rap music is whats having a little trouble because so many artists base their careers on selling a CD, a record or a cassette, selling a DVD, they werent really an emcee, they were music merchants. They entered the game like my meaning of my success is how much Ive sold and so much of rap became that. But us emcees, we dont care how much we sell. Who cares? I gotta do this when I wake up in the morning, when I go to sleep at night. Its part of the air that I breathe. Hip hop is doing fine, breaking, emceeing, DJing, graffiti writing, beatboxing, the fashion, language, knowledge, thats all doing fine. That is expanding.
AllHipHop.com: Is there anybody that you want to work with that you havent worked with yet?
KRS-One: Theres a whole bunch of people. I like to work with Gil Scott Heron, I say that because I think Im going to get a chance, I mean, I want to work with everybody. Id like to work with Bill Clinton. Hes an artist, forget the political side, drag that sax out. Lets get that sax played over a track and we get it in.
AllHipHop.com: What are your favorite books that youve read and how much has those books played a part in your lyrical execution?
KRS-One: Lyrical execution. Lets start with the battles. Lyrical murder. First of all, you have to go with The Art of War, all philosophies of Buddhism, Zen philosophy, all of that is good for defense. Now the books on the other hand, I move over to the more metaphysical stance about lyrical execution, rap murder, Ill break you down lyrically, move over to the philosopher. One thing Ive always called myself was The Teacher, the teacher also comes from that Asian culture. The teacher is the elder, where you have to respect your elders or you get youre a** kicked unlike even African American culture dont practice this. We see our elders, Oh, man get out of here, and then, our older men and women just say, You need to respect your elders, but wheres the skill? Wheres the “Ill kick your a** skill” (from the elders)? In Asian culture and Native American culture as well but I dont see it in Native American culture, I dont see it in African American culture, maybe, African culture, you may get that, maybe, but its not popular as the old Chinese master as he is sipping his tea and you come over, you want to talk that bulls**t, suddenly that cup is in your mouth. You cannot play with that.
AllHipHop.com: What are some of the musical elements outside of what most would define as Hip-Hop that have helped you build your craft?
KRS-One: Well, like I said, Bruce Lee, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, U Roy, I Roy, Yellowman, the ancient culture coming into the west Indian culture, Nat Turner, Frederick Douglas, Marcus Garvey, you got the Nation of Islam, awww man, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Medgar Edwards, Stokey Carmichael, these are the ingredients in Hip-Hop. This all went into the pot, stirred it up, there are some others as well, the Crips and the Bloods, the originals, the Black Spades, the Savage Skulls, the Nomads, La Familia, essays, all that goes into the pot, stir it up. [Laughs]
AllHipHop.com: Whats your favorite album from your own collection?
KRS-One: I would say Spiritual Minded but I move over to the Sneak Attack. Obviously, Criminal Minded is right there. Each album has its own reasons for existence. So that question is hard for me to answer.
AllHipHop.com: Just one?
KRS-One: Sneak Attack.
AllHipHop.com: I love False Pride.
KRS-One: Its funny you mention False Pride. Thats Judaism. Thats a story out of the Torah. You can see where all of this is coming from. When it comes to Hip-Hop, there is no race, theres no ethnicity, theres no this is mine. Its like, I can relate to that, I can relate to that. I can relate to this, I can relate to this. If I can relate to all of this, what does that say about me? And then you go back to your own people and they dont relate to you. Which is where the whole I am Hip-Hop philosophy comes from.
AllHipHop.com: Whats the latest with the Duck Down project with Buckshot?
KRS-One: Yeah, that was dope. That was hot. I really enjoyed that one. I got a chance to explore some new styles as an emcee. I got a chance to work with Buckshot, for a long time, I used to work with them on Nervous Records, those were the days with Mad Lion, no one remembers Nervous Records anymore, its a shame but karma works just like that. So [Buckshot and I] kept running into each other over and over again, like, Yo. We gotta do a record together. This was back in 93. So we figured 16 years later, we get the opportunity. So here we are, it was like, ok, cool, lets do this. Buckshot, Black Moon, all of them, Heltah Skeltah, even Mr. Walt and Evil D, we all took a vow to preserve that 90s style Hip-Hop. The 90s style Hip-Hop is what we vow to keep no matter what happens to our career. Were going to keep those ingredients together. So its our opportunity to stay true to our vow.
On the eve of his first independent album release, rapper Trick Daddy is feeling very confident that he will continue to experience the same success as he did on a major label.
The Miami pioneer is gearing up for the release of his eighth studio release, Finally Famous, due out September 15.
The album will be the first release on Tricks new imprint Dunk Ryder Records, which he launched after leaving his longtime recording home, Slip-N-Slide Records, in 2007.
While the move for independence seemed sudden to some fans, Trick reveals that it was a decision he had been pondering since the release of 2004s Thug Matrimony.
The lack of promotional support behind his last Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic release, Back By Thug Demand, sealed his fate.
You go from four videos and four singles, to two singles and videos, to one video and not even one magazine cover, Trick explained. Then youre selling out at the store and your homeboy is excited. But when you sell out in stores, they aint got enough product. Something aint right. That means you missing out on money. My last album sales and marketing setup was so terrible; it got so bad that the stores wasnt receiving the records they ordered.
Now at the helm of his new movement, Trick is excited to deliver a collection of street tales that cover his vast experiences in and out of the Hip-Hop game, which he feels will connect with fans across the board.
I got something for the ghettoes, he said of Finally Famous. I got something you can ride around and smoke to, I got a little something you can vibe and think too. I got something thats gonna remind you who I am. I covered all the bases without the big features, without the big production, cause I got my producers and my own artists.”
The album also serves as a preview of sorts for Tricks literary debut. Later this year, he will unveil his new autobiography, Magic City: Trials of a Native Son.
The album is actually the soundtrack for the book, Trick revealed. Im telling you from discovering my first love of music to the first time I saw somebody use cocaine. I tell you everything I ever have been arrested for, I speak about going to prison. I tell you the first time I heard the words free base, the first crack baby I remember seeing. Youll get my accounts of surviving three major hurricanes [and] two riots, he continued.
But were not getting anybody indicted. Im not violating any street codes when telling my story, Trick promised.
Following the release of Magic City, Trick Daddy will also pen a graphic novel series titles Nann, in which he appears as a super hero defending the hood from social ills, and fighting off the fraudulent rappers trying to take over the music industry.
He is also positioning himself to become the next spokesperson for Lupus research after recently revealing that he has battled the disease for the last ten years.
A jailed friend of C-Murder (Corey Miller) has confessed to the slaying of teenager Steve Thomas just 3 weeks before Millers murder retrial.
C-Murder is facing second-degree murder charges for the killing, and faces a maximum of life in prison.
The crime occurred at a Harvey nightclub 7 years ago, and Thomas was 16 at the time of his death.
The former No Limit soldier was convicted of the homicide in 2003, but the ruling was overturned due to evidence that prosecutors withheld the criminal records of their witnesses.
Juan Flowers told authorities that he was with Miller the night of the killing, and was the one that fired the fatal shot.
However, Flowers also states that he and Miller are not responsible for the slaying.
Flowers is currently serving life for an unrelated 2007 murder in Georgias Fulton County.
Prosecutors have pointed out that the new information contradicts the testimony of Dwayne Wango Cobbins, another friend of C-Murders who was present the night of the killing.
Cobbins has stated under oath that he witnessed C-Murder bringing a small gun into the club, hidden in his boot.
When the altercation began, Miller and several others attacked Thomas.
Because of the pandemonium from the shooting, Cobbins admitted he didnt see Miller shoot the teen.
However, he fled the scene with Flowers, who disclosed that no one could see C (Corey Miller) shoot that tiny little gun.
Cobbins is also incarcerated, serving 9 years in federal prison for obstruction of justice/threatening a witness in C-Murders case.
At press time, a judge is reviewing the new revelation and will decide if Juan Flowers will be transported from Georgia to testify.
Currently, Corey C-Murder Miller is serving a 10 year sentence on a separate attempted second-degree murder conviction.
In that case, club surveillance video shows the rapper attempting to shoot a club owner and bouncer after exchanging heated words over search regulations.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has opted to have some of his very prominent tattoos removed, to better accommodate his burgeoning career in Hollywood.
I took some of the tattoos off because on the movie set, if we got a six oclock call time, I have to be there two oclock the night before, 50 Cent told AllHipHop.com. I gotta go through four hours of make up before we go ahead and play the role. So, I just took it off my arm. My right arm.”
The G-Unit founder has not completely done away with his tattoo. He still bears the two on his back, the signature 50 Cent and Southside tattoos.

THE GROUP TALES WITH RAY-J
I met Ray J in Orlando. He came down to Florida because he was promoting supposedly his reality show, and the club that brought him brings a different celebrity each weekend.
So that day comes and me and my girls decide to go to the club with the intention of getting to see if we could at least get a picture of him and even better if we get a picture of us with him lol. So to make the story short me and my girl go to the club. And we see Ray j in the VIP with some other dudes and like A LOT of females. So me and my girl were looking pretty decent and we were trying to get one of the dudes that was in the VIP attention, so dude notices my girl. They make eye contact and he tells her to come up to the VIP and he tells the bouncer to let me and my girl in.
So we get there and we were excited I had my camera ready and everything. Dude that got us in VIP starts flirting with my girl and they ended up switching phone numbers, and he told her that he was gonna hit her up for the after party.
Ray J and his crew left pretty early Im sure it wasnt even 1 am when they left; talking about Ray J was tired (which he did look tired though). So like at 2 am my girl gets a phone call and the dude tells her that we should head that way, and my girl was like that way??? His like come to the hotel girl we got alcohol and everything. So she pulls me aside and tells me what happened. We left kinda early [and] I was kinda mad because I had met this fine ass dude, and didnt even give him my phone number. Finally we get to the hotel and she calls and he gives her the room number. When we get there they were staying at this bomb-ass suite I mean them dudes had everything champagne, weed u name it, So my girl start smoking weed with the dude, and I get mad because when that girl smokes she dont know how to act seriously she a trip, so Im sitting their watching her act like a straight fool with no damn sense, and like probably 15 or 20 min later, we see somebody walking in the room with a bag of McDonalds and it was Ray J.
I was frozen lol Ive never seen a celebrity in my life (Im so country). So he come in and he introduces his self and he was like damn yall should have told me yall gonna have company and they were like naawww they coo they coo and he like aight. So he sits there next to me and starts eating and hes like u wanna bite? And Im like naa thank u though, his like u staring hard at these fries ma (I really wasnt) then he looked at me from head to toes and he was like damn u thick what are you? So I tell him Im half Brazilian half Mexican and he was like I dig that I dig that! He start asking me if I had a man and Im like nah I aint got time for all that. Well we were small talkin. So my friend leaves with the dude to a bed and yall know what they were doing I mean! I aint gonna lie we was getting horny from the noise, and he (Ray J) is not ugly just VERY SKINNY!
Oh well one thing leads to another and his starts talking about he is so tired and ask me for a massage (I HATE GIVING MASSAGES) so I gave in and start massaging his back pretty hard lol. So he was like making noises (like it hurt) then he turns around and is like girl Ima teach u how to give massages so he starts massaging my shoulders and down to my back (I was going with the flow I was horny ass hell) and lastly massaging my butt. Then he starts kissing my neck and puts his hand down my dress and starts f######## me, his like damn u wet. Lol I start speaking in Portuguese to him cause I know men like that lol its pretty funny.
He was hard so we were laying on the couch. He tells me to get naked and Im like Im shy lol..Hes like no u aint come on do that for daddy (I thought that was kinda whack). So I did it and his like damn u sexy talking all this crazy talk that men do when they horny he starts kissing me all over and then my nipples and rubbing my c### I mean I was in ecstasy lol! So his like come sit on it! Dude didnt have a condom on I dont know why the hell I did it. I mean his d**k wasnt that thick but it was very long I was just on top of him it was pretty fast probably like 5 minutes I mean thats cool because in the back of my head I was thinking that he didnt have a condom on. I was relief when he pulled out but still. Well when we was done my girl and the dude were naked and chillin.
Ray J was like do u need anything??? Food?? Money?? Anything to drink? Im like money?!? No Im good thank you.. (in my mind I was thinking only prostitutes ask for money b***h!). Well the two more hours we were there he was gassing me that he was gonna make me a model and all this blah blah blah we finally leave and we exchange phone numbers.
The next day I had to go to work pretty early and I dont take my phone with me because they be stealing sh*t. So when I got home I had like 4 missed calls from him. I called him back and he said he called me to say bye because he was going back to LA (I thought that was pretty sweet lol).
Well we have talked a couple times but since Im not American my a** is back home can he call me? Would I do it again??? Umm I gotta go to the doctor and check for STDs if Im clean Ill for sure do it.
And yes I got my picture with him 🙂

So you want to get into the game? Quit while you ahead and go to college! That’s the advice I’d give to anybody starting out right now, get a degree in contract law and go ahead on the business side. But, if you’re stubborn like me, and determined to fulfill your artistic vision, you need to condition yourself to start an independent grind.
Step 1: Set Up Shop
Set up an LLC and sign yourself to your company.
Step 2: Build a Studio
Figure out the cheapest way to build a studio, I’d suggest a mac, pro tools and reason or logic. I’d invest in a good mic. You also need to get one of the homeys or get yourself the proper training to know how to record. If you can’t do these things professionally, you gotta intern somewhere and find somebody to teach you.
Step 3: Step into the Arena
Get to the business of making music! Figure out how to brand your music, Dip Set got “Dip Set Bird Gang,” G-Unit got “G-G-G-Unit,” Grind Time is “Grind time rap gang, bang bang bang,” Figure out who you want to be and start building that.
Step 4: Connect with Your Audience
I don’t like to say the word buzz, a buzz is something can be gone. I’m really talking about building a relationship with your audience. That’s what Jay Z did. That’s a little different than a buzz. A buzz involves radio payoffs and writer favors. Soulja Boy had a relationship with his audience. The people that bought his record felt like they were supporting someone they knew, so they bought it.
You need to build your brand visually using a viral campaign, through Myspace and Facebook, but it’s all for naught if people don’t connect with you. People are only gonna connect through musical energy. That part has to come from you.
Step 5: Promoting Your Music
Contingent on the type of music you can do there’s a lot of ways to market yourself. If you’re doing snap music you need a high school dance type thing. If you’re doing what I do, you’re pushing at the blue collar working class brother, to be honest, cats that sell dope and college students. You just gotta figure out what your thing is and how to get it exposed to people.
I am a proponent of stickers, flyers and posters. I’ve found that they’re most effective in the hood. Stickers are probably the best, but they can get you in trouble.
If you can get radio to play your music, then go for radio, but if not you go around radio through myspace and internet radio.
Step 6: Pushin’
If you’re pressing up mixtape cd’s and you think the cd’s are dope, package them as a real record that a store can carry. That’s the difference between a product that can sell for two dollars and seven dollars. That’s the first time I’ve told people that secret, that didn’t come to me for free, I had to pay for that.
Also, direct people to itunes. Set up an itunes account or deal with Hi-Fi or one of the other cell phone go-betweens. If you can get a hot ringtone going in your city, that’s 60-70 cents a ringtone.
You should also think about merch. What about your brand is worth buying? You need as many streams of additional revenue as possible. You also want other things (besides music) that your audience can buy. Look at Paul Wall and Chamilionaire. You could still buy tapes from them and they would do your grill. You can build what you talk about and rap about and bring your audience to you. Soulja boy named his album his website, if you go to his website you can buy his merch…that’s innovative as s**t, I applaud that young man.
Step 7: Mobilize Your Audience
Now it’s time to mobilize your audience. You have to get your audience to come out and see you. Use Myspace and Facebook to let people know when you’re coming to town.
Step 8: Bulid a Relationship with Your Retailers
Let’s say you’re an independent artist. In your neighborhood, you can sell 300 copies of your album, but you can sell 300 more if you expand past your town. You can now direct people in every town via Myspace to a particular store. You go and do a signing and order three pizzas and give out free pizza. If you sell twenty albums, you just paid half the employee’s weekly pay. Now you’re an asset to that mom and pop store.
Step 9: Communicate with Your Distributor
If you’re able to get distribution, communicate with them. When I go and talk to the marketing department at Fontana. I’m educated. I come in like “Help me help you to figure out the best way to market your product.” If I need to be at the store then that’s what I want to do.
Popular Hip-Hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, producer Swizz Beatz and R&B singer Akon have been hit with a lawsuit by a Texas-based music publisher.
Songster, which is located in Fort Worth, Texas, filed the lawsuit in the Central District of California yesterday (July 14).
The company claims the Bone Thug’s lead single from their 2007 album Strength and Loyalty illegally lifted portions of the 1978 track “When The Day Will Come (aka KRSNA)” by group Rasa.
The lawsuit lists a variety of Hip-Hop artists who have sampled chanting from the song, which has been incorporated into tracks by KRS-One (“Beef”), Black Rob (“Can I Live”), Common (“Take It Easy”) and others with permission.
Songster also names Akon, the track’s producer, Swizz Beatz, owner of the Full Surface record label, Interscope Records, Sony A.T.V. Publishing and Universal Music Group in the lawsuit.
Songster claims they notified each defendant in writing about the infringement, but the album and song was still sold as physical CD’s and digital downloads.
Songster seeks to take the case to trial, to determine the amount of damages the original producer and songwriter of “Everything You See is Me” are entitled to.
They are also demanding all profits earned from the sales of Bone Thug’s track, in addition to removing any CD’s containing the track from being sold through physical and digital stores.
The remaining two members of Three 6 Mafia are continuing to capitalize on their crossover success with yet another unexpected new venture.
DJ Paul and Juicy J have developed a new television project which will introduce the world to their love of cooking.
Cookin Aint Easy will find the two longtime friends and collaborators hosting a weekly dinner party for friends, fans and celebrity guests.
But prior to the arrival of the guests and the start of the meal, the show will also follow them as they prepare the meal to be served, giving viewers the opportunity to actually learn the weeks recipes.
It is a completely fresh approach to a cooking show, said veteran reality TV producer Adam Briles, who will executive produce the show. You get much of the same take-away information that viewers expect from the genre, but it is served up in such a unique, relatable and funny way that it is just flat out entertaining.
While DJ Paul and Juicy Js antics are sure to keep fans attention, as they did with their 2007 MTV show Adventures in Hollyhood, the new show will also showcase Three 6 Mafias versatility in the kitchen.
Were not just cooking soul food like people might expect, explained Juicy J. Were cooking Indian food, Italian, Asian, Middle Eastern food all different inds of foods that people wouldnt think we could cook. Its a comedy, its funny and we love bringing people together for it.
A launch date for Cookin Aint Easy has yet to be determined, as Mise En Scene Entertainment and the William Morris Endeavor Agency are shopping it to major cable networks now.
The shows producer, Adam Briles, has produced shows like Survivor, The Contender and Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment.
Hip-Hop legend Ice Cube has partnered with TBS to premier the TV version of Are We There Yet?
TBS secured the 10 episode contract after a bidding war with USA and BET. The network also retains the option to order 90 more episodes.
Ali LeRoi, writer of the acclaimed Everybody Hates Chris sitcom, will handle scripting duties.
Executive producer credits are split between Cube, LeRoi, and Matt Alvarez. Debmar-Mercury, which backs the Tyle Perry sitcoms (House of Payne, Meet the Browns), will distribute the series.
When we set out to expand on the television model that Tyler Perry has turned into a runaway success at TBS, we knew we had to be in business with Ice Cube, explained Debmar-Mercury representative Mort Marcus.
Although Cube has confirmed that hell make sporadic appearances on the show, it wont be in his movie role as Nick, the protagonist father from the films.
Replacing him will be Terry Crew, who received kudos from critics and fans for his breakout role as the father on Everybody Hates Chris.
Terry Crews is the perfect person to replace me as Nick, Ice Cube disclosed in a statement. His physical comedy is undeniable. [And] no one runs a show like Ali. We are dedicated to creating a new template for family comedy.
The first, 2005 installment of Are We There Yet? grossed $82 million in theaters.
The new show will mark the third movie to TV adaption for partners Matt Alvarez and Ice Cube, following Barbershop: The Series and the animated version of Friday.
At press time, TBS Are We There Yet is slated to launch in June 2010.
Additionally, Ice Cube is preparing for the release of the comedic film Janky Promoters, which also stars Mike Epps and Young Jeezy.
Will Smith’s son Jaden will be featured opposite Jackie Chan in the upcoming remake of the 1984 movie Karate Kid.
Chan recently signed on to play the older kung-fu master in Kung-Fu Kid.
Chan’s character guides Jaden Smith’s and teaches him the art of Kung-Fu to confront local bullies.
The updated version of the movie is set in China, where shooting started Saturday (July 11) in Beijing.
The film shoot was kicked off by a traditional Chinese ceremony that featured Will Smith, who is also producer of the film.
The original version of Karate Kid starred Pat Morita as “Mr. Miyagi,” while Ralph Macchio played “Daniel.”

When the Towers were hit, there was only one rapper than released a critically acclaimed album and that rapper was Jay-Z. Now, the BK rep is trying to anniversary that effort by dropping on Sept. 11, 2009 with The Blueprint 3. It would seem that 50 Cent is going to play spoiler and drop his Before I Self Destruct on the same day, according to rumors. 50 Cent didnt tell AllHipHop this in his recent interview, but, rumor has it, hes in the studio with Dr. Dre and Eminem. Only time will tell, but it may be best for these guys to drop on different dates so they can sell better individually.
MICHELLE: NOT REALLY FEELING DESTINYS CHILD POP LIFE
Michelle Williams has admitted that she really wasnt into being the pop star that was demanded of her by Destinys Child. Shes all into her acting now. Peep the quotes:
Im a humble, down-to-earth, funny, smart, young lady. I didnt just want to be a pop star, thinking she could act. I wanted to be taken seriously. I dont want you to see Michelle from Destinys Child when Im on stage. I want you to see Roxie Hart. I dont want anyone thinking, she got the role because she was in the group. No! I actually had to go and audition. They didnt just give it to me, so Im happy that I did go for it.
You know, some things come to an end, she shrugs I dont take anything too seriously. If I took it so seriously, Id be in a hospital somewhere not knowing how to deal with not being in a group anymore. But I still want to be able to work in the music industry, but with integrity. And I know that can exist. Adding, I just want to let people know that Im out here doing my thing, in the way that I want to do it. I love to sing and I want people to know me for my music. But at the same time, you do have to get out there to build your profile. You know, if its not how I want to do it, I dont do it. I think Ive worked hard enough to say that.
[Thanks]
SNOOP PAYS WELL
Check out this report from Contact News on how Snoop Dogg avoided a big pizza bill!
SNOOP DOGG escaped paying a huge restaurant bill – by giving out concert tickets to the staff. The hip-hop star was dining at Big Louie’s Pizzeria in Eureka, California, last week (08Jul09) with his tour pal Stephen Marley. The pair ordered $900 (£600) worth of pizza, BBQ ribs and vegetarian pies from the eatery – but instead of asking the star to pay for the meal in cash, bosses asked if they could get free gig tickets. Snoop Dogg happily obliged and gave staff at the pizzeria 12 passes to his current U.S. tour, as well as a number of t-shirts and hats as a thank you.
NODECI?
It looks like Jodeci is going drastic to rebrand themselves. The Group is doing some sort of tour, but it will be without K-Ci and Jojo so they are calling the group NODECI. Is this a good idea? It certainly wont sit will with real fans of the group. But, neither will the absence of K-Ci and Jojo.
Here is Fantasia talking about NODECI:

DID JOE BUDDEN FUDGE THE FACTS?
Joe Budden put a video out suggesting that Inspectah Deck was nowhere to be found after he said, F**k Joe Budden. Here is a report from a reader that says the opposite.
I wrote you an email yesterday talking about the D.C. Rock the Bells tour and I finally got around to reading your rumors from the weekend and yesterday. I saw the video of Joe Buddens saying he wanted to beat up Inspectah Deck, was that video about what he said during the Rock the Bells show in D.C? Like I wanted to comment on a few things Buddens said if that’s the case. Like I told you before, Slaughterhouse was not in the venue until it was almost time for their set and they even showed up late for their set. Buddens didn’t even say anything about Inspectah Deck when he was on stage. When their set ended I was told by one of Rza’s people that Slaughterhouse dipped right out before Wu took the stage. Contrary to what Buddens said, Inspectah Deck was walking around signing autographs and taking mad pictures with fans and he even sat in the lawn of the pavilion to watch the end of the show. So Buddens was lying saying Inspectah Deck rolled out, Raekwon was even on stage with Nas when he was doing his set. Just wanted to clear that up, that isn’t a rumor that is truth.
Here is a video to support the notion as well:
