You didn’t believe Hov when he said he wasn’t going to have any special guests during his eight-show stint at Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center, did you?

The most famous man in rap music held his opening show at the stadium he helped built last night for over 19,000 adoring fans, including his wife Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Memphis Bleek, Bow Wow, and Dave Chappelle. After announcing yesterday that he would have no guest appearances, Jigga either lied or had a change of heart last minute, and welcomed Hip-Hop legend Big Daddy Kane on the stage with him.
Kane went on to perform his rap classic “Ain’t No Half Steppin'”, “Set It Off”, and “Warm It Up Kane”. For those that don’t know, Big Daddy Kane was one of the first people to help Jay out in music and put him on his 1994 single, “Show & Prove”.
So, to answer the B.I.G. question – did Jay-Z really bring out a Biggie Smalls hologram in Brooklyn??? Jay did do a tribute to Biggie Smalls, but it was not a hologram Biggie, but a high-tech screen showing his image. So,to answer the headline question, no – it was not a hologram a la Tupac at SXSW. How epic would that have been, though!?

Jigga unleashed a never before heard verse last night that had the crowd going crazy. Check out the new verse and the video below:
“This is Rich Porter, part two. You can stunt like that when you rich before your debut. Money and the murder, rapper or the trapper…either way I’m gone serve you. Shooters on my team, NO REALLY I GOT SHOOTERS on my team….Juan or Deron, how you ni**as want it? pick a arm, they call me Lucky Lefty. Ball so hard I don’t respect the fu***ng referees.”
Beyonce watched the show from Barclays’ VIP D’USSE Riser before joining her husband backstage for a congratulatory toast with friends.
Afterwards, the power couple stopped by The 40/40 Club in Manhattan, where Jay-Z continued the celebration with D’USSE Cognac bottle service and a close crew, including Irv Gotti, Memphis Bleek, Nets Player Jerry Stackhouse, Dave Chappelle, Lil Bow Wow, and more. Check out a few photos from the afterparty below:
MTV’s RapFix was in the house last night and got some great footage of Jigga performing, you can check that out below:
