Rapper Ice Cube was
recently honored at the annual Butterfly Ball, a swank annual fundraiser for Chrysalis,
an organization dedicated to the upliftment of economically disadvantaged people.
Cube was honored along with 20th Century Fox TV president Dana Walden and Disney
marketing executive Oren Aviv. "Normally I’m a little skeptical about this
stuff,” Cube told Variety. “But to go and see what they do, I’m glad
to be a part of it." The bash took place at real estate mogul Fred Sands’
Bel Air villa
Mariah Carey will end 50 Cent’s reign at the top of the
charts next week, after the rapper’s The Massacre spent six weeks
at the top of the Billboard Pop Charts since its release in March. Carey’s
latest album The Emancipation of Mimi hit stores April 12 on Island
Def Jam and is on pace to move over 300,000 units in the first week on shelves.
Nelly has teamed with Reuther Chrysler Jeep in St. Louis, Missouri to put two
Pimp Juice promotional vehicles for auction on Ebay. The two vehicles are being
auctioned off to raise money for the Jes Us 4 Jackie organization, which Nelly
founded with sister, Jackie Donahue. A 2004 PT Cruiser and a 2004 Jeep Wrangler
were customized by Montana Muscle and Classics in Montana. The winning bidder
will also receive 20 cases of Pimp Juice, an authenticity plaque and an autographed
picture of Nelly with the vehicle. Donahue, who passed away March 24 from leukemia,
founded the organization with Nelly to encourage African-American’s to
participate in donor registration programs.
Xzibit is in negotiations
to star in “Gridiron Gang,” a new film that will star Dwayne “The
Rock” Johnson. The movie centers on a probation officer who organizes
a football team of juvenile offenders to compete against local high schools.
Xzibit is in negotiations to play the assistant coach in the film, which is
being directed by Phil Joanou. In related news, Xzibit recently finished shooting
the movie “Derailed,” which also stars Jennifer Aniston, Clive Owen,
the RZA and Vincent Cassel.
