Georgia rapper Baby D is facing federal charges for allegedly trafficking cocaine, following a recent arrest in Dayton, Ohio.
Baby D, born Donald B. Jenkins, vehemently disputes the allegations against him.
He is currently being held without bond in the Butler County jail in Ohio, a facility known for housing people held on federal charges.
In addition to the federal charges, Baby D has three pending assault charges in Tennessee, where he has a bond set.
A warrant for the rapper’s arrest in Georgia was recently dismissed.
A fixture on the Atlanta rap scene, Baby D was signed to Big Oomp Records in 1994.
Soon after he released his debut album Off Da Chain in 2000.
The project, which included collaborations with Lil’ Jon and the YoungBloodz, was followed two years later by Baby D’s sophomore release, Lil’ Chopper Toy.
The March 26 arrest comes as the rapper’s prepares to unleash his new album, A-Town Secret Weapon.
The project’s first single, the DJ Montay-produced “I’m Bout Money,” is currently in rotation on radio as the track’s accompanying video is gaining airplay on BET and MTV Jams.
Sources with Baby D’s label, Koch Records/Big Oomp Records, tell AllHipHop.com that it is unclear how Baby D’s incarceration will affect the release of the album, which features appearances from Shawty Lo and Gucci Mane.
Baby D’s A-Town Secret Weapon is slated to hit stores on Tuesday (April 29).
