A serious legal situation involving rapper Gillie Da Kid has come to an end, as drug charges against the Philadelphia rapper were recently dropped.
The case stemmed from an investigation and search authorities conducted on two houses on Passmore Street in Philadelphia.
Gillie Da Kid and four associates were arrested on Feb. 6, 2007 and charged with conspiracy and possessing narcotics with intent to deliver, after more than 89 pounds of marijuana was found.
He was released from prison on Feb. 16.
The street value of the stash was reportedly worth an estimated $404,000.
Gillie Da Kid’s legal resolution comes as he signs a new deal with Koch Records.
The recent signing halts months of rumors surrounding which record label the rapper would call home.
Gillie Da Kid is currently working on his forthcoming album Get It How You Live.
The Figgas 4 Life Entertainment and Koch Records release will feature the rapper working with a variety of producers, including Zookon (Jim Jones, Red Café), Hotrunner (Will Smith, Eve, Lil Kim, Major Figgas, Fabolous, Ray J) and Ruggedness (Beanie Sigel, Freeway).
Gillie Da Kid will take center stage on BET’s Rap City today (March 17) when the show air’s a clip of his single “Get Down on the Ground.”
Gillie Da Kid’s Get It How You Live is slated to hit store later this year.
