Chris Brown and the state of California have reached a plea agreement in the assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The singer has received five years of supervised probation and six months of community service labor. He also has pleaded guilty to felony assault.
The announcement just before a preliminary hearing was to begin in Los Angeles.
Rihanna was set to testify again Brown on Monday, if the case were to proceed.
The presiding judge expressed concern, because Brown will be able to conduct his community service in his home state of Virginia and not California, where the crime was committed.
