After the success of D4L’s debut album Down For Life, D4L member Shawty
Lo is searching for similar success this fall with the release of his
solo debut Units In The City.Atlanta based group D4L is best known for their massive radio
friendly hits “Laffy Taffy” and “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me.”
Shawty Lo is no stranger to solo projects; in 2006 he released the
I’m Da Man mixtape along with DJ Scream and together the two went
on to sell over 40,000 copies.
Unlike the catchy dance tracks on D4L’s album Down For Life, Shawty Lo’s
debut album is said to chronicle the rapper’s life on the streets of
Bankhead.
“I don’t really consider myself as much of a rapper as I do a truth
teller,” Shawty Lo. “I just talk about what’s going on in my hood and in
my life, so it’s all coming from the heart. Even if people haven’t
experienced what I’m talking about, everybody can understand and relate
to what’s real.”
Units In The City will feature guest appearances from Gucci
Mane and fellow D4L members Fabo, Mook B, and Stuntman.
Units In The City will also include production by Born
Immaculate, DJ Pooh, Big Trill and Shorty D.
