Rapper Daz Dillinger is breaking into the world of film, directing and appearing in the upcoming direct-to-DVD release Make It Rain.
A collaboration between the Dogg Pound member and director Patrick J. Blake II, the movie brings to life the tale the chaos created by an Atlanta commissioner on a mission to shut down the city’s strip clubs.
At the center of the story is one club owner in particular, Big A portrayed by rapper AlfaMega, whose Grand Hustle/Capital Records debut hits stores in October.
“It’s like a Friday and a Players’ Club,” Alfamega tells AllHipHop.com. “My character, Big A, messes with all the girls in his club. I end up getting one of the girls pregnant, but because I’m dissing her, her actions lead to me getting robbed. And that sets off and brings together a few other story lines.”
Several Atlanta Hip-Hoppers are also featured in the movie, helping the many story lines along.
Daz and Alfa are joined on screen by Khujo Goodie, Kandi Burruss, Big Kuntry, Rasheeda, Boyz N Da Hood’s Big Duke, comedian Shawty Shawty, and even Snoop Dogg, who makes one of Make It Rain’s cameo appearances.
While fans may have to wait for Make It Rain, Daz’s latest album is set to hit stores August 12.
Featuring appearances by Snoop, Obie Trice, Krayzie Bone, Kurupt and Keak da Sneak, Only On The Left Side will be Daz’s second release since leaving So So Def Records.
A new album by Tha Dogg Pound entitled 100 Wayz is also due out before the end of the year.
