DJ Akademiks Addresses Heated Conversation With Vic Mensa On ‘Everyday Struggle’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Monday’s episode of Everyday Struggle featured a special guest – Chicago rapper Vic Mensa.

At one point, Mensa called out co-host DJ Akademiks over what he saw as the YouTube personality’s negative coverage of the violence in Chicago.

“People exactly like you sensationalized and made a following off of clowning situations that we go through in real life,” the Roc Nation emcee told Akademiks. “I think n-ggas ain’t have no right. You specifically, you ain’t never have a right. Whatever made you feel like you had a space to have a perspective on our people dying on a daily basis?”

Following the interview with Mensa going viral, Akademiks spoke on the situation on Tuesday’s Everyday Struggle.

“I am never above an artist who may have a difference of opinion, on either what I’ve said or what I’ve said about them, to come up here and voice it. That’s the reason we have guests,” said Ak. “When Vic Mensa was here, I could have easily glanced over and went past that, but that was a point of discussion when I have discussed this a lot and know he’s been outspoken about it. So I wanted to know how he felt… He said what he had to say. I think that’s important.”

DJ Akademiks also clarified that he has never made fun of anyone that has died as a result of the street violence in Chicago.

He further addressed his views of Chicago and its citizens via his Instagram page:

I’ve Always loved and supported the ppl and rappers affected by violence in Chicago. I understand tho why everyone there might hate me. And that something I’ll take and wear. I’ve loved the music and culture there but always denounced the disgusting violence. Perhaps it wasn’t my place to speak on that but to be clear I never done anything but show sympathy for the victims of violence in Chicago while vehemently condemning the ppl who did the violence. Still I’m understanding of the ppl who may share a difference of opinion or who May see me as the agitator and I hope one day we can reconcile. I apologize to all artist and people from Chicago for giving light to drill music and it may be one the things I did wrong while coming up. I’ve realized a lot within the last few Days.
