Drake Visits Famous Ozzy Osbourne Landmark, Pours Out Liquor To Honor Late Rocker

Drake and Ozzy Osbourne

Drake paid his respects to Ozzy Osbourne in Birmingham with a heartfelt tribute and a symbolic tequila pour at the Black Sabbath Bench.

Drake opened his Birmingham concert with a powerful nod to Ozzy Osbourne Wednesday (July 23) by walking onstage to Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” just a day after the legendary rocker’s death at age 76.

“Hey, Birmingham! Rest in peace to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne,” the rapper said to the crowd at the Utilita Arena, according to fan-shot footage from the show.

Earlier that day, the Canadian Hip-Hop star visited the Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street, a local landmark dedicated to the iconic band.

Surrounded by flowers and handwritten tributes left by grieving fans, Drake poured out a splash of tequila in memory of the Birmingham native.

“I just came out to pay respects to someone who lived it to the fullest,” he told The New York Times, calling Osbourne a “cultural touchstone.”

Drake also shared a series of black-and-white photos on Instagram capturing his visit to the tribute site and interactions with locals. The original caption read, “Drank with the NY Times last night for Ozzy,” but it was later edited to a simple dove emoji.

Osbourne, known for his wild stage presence and as the frontman of Black Sabbath, had just performed his final show with the band at Villa Park in Birmingham two weeks earlier.

He was joined by longtime bandmates Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler.

Drake is currently co-headlining his “Some Special Shows 4 U” tour with PartyNextDoor, with the next stop scheduled in Manchester on Friday.
