(AllHipHop News) In July of 2014, Eminem, Shady Records, and Hip Hop super-group Slaughterhouse presented the much-hyped Total Slaughter battle rap event. The showcase, held at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, was preceded by an 8-man lyrical tournament aired as a reality show on Fuse.

The live NYC battles featured some of the top performers in the culture. Notable stars Murda Mook, Loaded Lux, Arsonal, Big T, Daylyt, and T-Rex were all part of the card. The final contest of the evening pitted Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden against veteran battler Hollow Da Don. The event also featured participation from prominent Hip Hop figures Sway Calloway, Ebro Darden, DJ Kay Slay, Kid Capri, and Royce da 5’9”.
Total Slaughter was billed as the “biggest event in battle rap history,” and despite some criticism, many observers expected the function would be held annually. However, there has not been any sign TS2 is going to take place anytime soon.
AllHipHop.com spoke with Slaughterhouse’s Joell Ortiz about the possibility Em and the team could sponsor another battle rap extravaganza. The “House Slippers” rhymer does not dismiss Total Slaughter could happen again.
“I wouldn’t rule it out, because it went over so well. The timing has to be right. Everything has to align,” says Joell. “If there is another Total Slaughter and there’s a representative of Slaughterhouse, it very well could be me.”
Joell Ortiz partnered with producer !llmind for the upcoming collaborative album Human. The project features appearances by Emilio Rojas, Bodega Bamz, Chris Rivers, Father Dude, and Jared Evan.
