(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne’s managers have revealed that scam artists are still hard at work attempting to swindle local promoters out of their cash, by fraudulently booking the rap star.Over the course of 2010, Cash Money/Young Money artists Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj were the targets of fake booking agents nationwide. The booking agents usually take tens-of-thousands of dollars upfront for the artists, who never show up, since they were never really booked in the first place. The latest scam is taking place in Tampa, Florida, where phony agents representing Lil Wayne attempted to cash in on a New Year’s Eve appearance, as well as several other dates in the New Year. Last week, Empire Nightclub in Ybor City was victimized by the scam, when the owner of the club canceled a New Year’s Eve party that was supposed to feature Lil Wayne.Ken Grossman, the owner of Empire Nightclub, has claimed that he has already suffered a financial loss due to the scam and is planning legal action against the fake promoter.Shortly after Lil Wayne was released from prison in November of 2010, his representatives had to issue a statement regarding an outbreak of fake bookings throughout the United States. “Lil Wayne, who is co-managed by Bryant Management and Hip Hop Since 1978, domestic tours are booked exclusively by Live Nation and Shawn Gee of SEFG, LLC,” Bryant’s rep said.
