Rapper Foxy Brown held a press
conference at Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn today (Feb. 26) to address
her most recent arrest, which took place last week in Pembroke Pines, FL. Brown
appeared with a bevy of supporters to address her recent
arrest. Brown, 27, was arrested and charged with battery and resisting
an officer with violence on Feb. 15, after she became embroiled
in a dispute over hair glue with the owner of the Queen Beauty Supply Store.
She was released on Feb. 16, after posting $1500 bond. According to New
York City Department of Probation officials, Brown violated the terms of her probation
by becoming involved in the dispute and for travelling to Florida without the
consent of her probation officer.
Brown said she would be completely exonerated of the charges.
“For the last week, I have been vilified in the media as assaulting a store owner…” Brown said. “…The only crime I am guilty of committing is being a young black female celebrity in Broward County.”
Brown lashed out at the Pembroke Pines Police Department and also claimed that the store owner, Sam Hayssam, was using the legal incident for his personal enrichment.
“I am the victim of an overzealous police department who engaged in police brutality and a money hungry store owner whose motives are for me to pay his mortgage on his house and his children’s tuition,” Brown said.
Brown proclaimed her innocence and her attorneys said they planned on filing charges against the Pembroke Pines Police Department in the near future.
Foxy Brown is currently working on her highly anticipated album Black Roses.
