Puerto
Rican Day Parade
directors areconsidering banning Hip-Hop from the festivities. The directors
claim that some of the floats carrying Hip-Hop artists attract
rowdies that are tarnishing the festivals image. Federico Perez,
who has been a board member since the 1960’s and a former councilman
in the Bronx is concerned that many of the lyrics that come from
the floats in recent years were too obscene, and didn’t blend
with the traditional Latin conduct that the organizers want for
the project.
