(AllHipHop News) John Witherspoon, 77, has passed away. The unfortunate news was confirmed overnight. The Detroit-born actor/comedian is survived by his wife, two sons, and an extended family.

A lot of the veteran entertainer’s work was beloved by Hip Hop artists and fans. His filmography includes Hollywood Shuffle, I’m Gonna Get You Sucka, House Party, Boomerang, Soul Plane, and the Friday series.

Additionally, Witherspoon was known for television programs like The Wayans Bros., The BoondocksThe Tracy Morgan Show, and Black Jesus. He also appeared in the music video for Jay-Z’s 2000 single “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)”. 

Rappers, producers, singers, media figures, and fellow actors paid their respect to John Witherspoon on social media.
