(AllHipHop News) Sometimes an MC’s magnum opus may become threatened by lyrical purgatory. To many a listener’s chagrin, shelved or abandoned projects can lead to diminished respect for an artist’s work-ethic. Luckily, the supporters of J Dilla’s art are receiving a reprieve.
The highly-anticipated vocal album, The Diary — which was originally slated for a 2002 release — will drop later this year on April 15, this according to BallerStatus. Both Dilla’s estate and Mass Appeal Records are coming together for the historic event.
A decade of meticulous work was invested into composing this project. Guest appearances range from artists such as Nottz, Snoop, and Bilal. In addiction to Dilla himself, veteran beatsmiths like Pete Rock, and House Shoes are responsible for creating the LP’s cohesive sound.
Although April is months away, one may now listen to “The Introduction.”
