Rapper Jim Jones has contributed a song to the upcoming documentary titled Lockdown USA, which examines a coalition of activists working to change the Rockefeller Drug Laws.
Lockdown USA features those incarcerated under the Rockefeller Drug Laws, community members, mothers and various leaders from the Hip-Hop community.
The screening takes place tomorrow (Apr. 18) in Albany, when the New York State Assembly votes on legislation to further reform the sentencing guidelines of the drug laws, which are considered by many to be the harshest in the United States.
The gathering is being sponsored by Assemblyman Jeffrion L. Aubry, NY State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus, Senator Eric Schneiderman, Senator Jose Serrano, and Drug Policy Alliance.
Lockdown USA premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last May.
Jones’ single is expected to be released with the film, in June 2007.
