MSNBC

reports the Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who recently debuted his rap alias

MC Rove, has come under fire from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals),

for his impromptu rap performance at the 63rd annual Radio-Television Correspondent’s

Association dinner. Rove

was among a group of people brought on stage by comedians Brad Sherwood and Colin

Mochrie from the television show Whose Line Is It Anyway. Before

his performance, Rove said he enjoys "ripping the tops off of animals"

and demonstrated with his hands when he was asked what his hobbies were by the

pair.Aided

by Rove’s ad-libs, Sherwood and Mochrie referenced the political aide in their

rap with lines like "He’s so white from his head to his feet and He’s a dancing

resident/He’s sidekick to the president."Despite

the humorous nature of the performance, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk was anything

but amused, as she expressed her outrage in a letter to Rove at the White House."We

saw your bizarre routine…and our first thought was, ‘Don’t give up your day

job,’" Newkirk wrote. "On second thought, we do wish you’d give up your

day job. . . . You have a severe compassion deficit and, sadly, you have the president’s

ear, and the last thing this country needs is someone whispering something violent

into it." Founded

in 1980, PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world. The

Norfolk, Virgina-based organization, which has more than 1.6 million members and

supporters, focuses on four areas in which animals suffer most: on factory farms,

in laboratories, in the clothing trade and in the entertainment industry.
