(AllHipHop News) Last month, Snoop Dogg earned his first #1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart when Bible of Love hit the apex of the tally. Even though certain listeners gravitated toward the LP, some Christians were bothered by the former gangsta rapper trying his hand at spiritual music.

Snoop did find one religious defender in Creflo Dollar, pastor of World Changers Church International in Atlanta. He recently addressed his congregation on the topic of grace.

“Recently, a man in California, he’s a rapper, in fact, he’s known as a legend, I think his nickname is Snoop Dogg. He just released a gospel album to minister to people ‘cause his grandmamma ministered to him and he had it on the inside of him,” said Dollar. “Isn’t it sad that he received rejection and flak and ‘how y’all gon’ support somebody like this after what they did and what they said?’ What’s wrong with us?”

The televangelist later added, “Somebody should have said, ‘Congratulations, thank you so much, thank you so much for releasing something that can minister to people and encourage people and help people.’ We were so busy trying to dig up his past, we couldn’t see the working of the Holy Ghost on the inside.”

Dollar also called out the “Holy Ghost police” for questioning whether someone has done enough or been saved long enough to be respected by churchgoers. He told Christians criticizing Snoop’s transition, “Y’all need to stop.”
