The
power of Hip-Hop, a soundtrack in the lives of youth and adults, has spread to
preschoolers through a new educational DVD.The
DVD, titled It’s Hip-Hop, Baby!, encourages kids age 2-6 to explore music,
language and songs by featuring original tunes as well as traditional toddler
songs such as "ABCs," "If You’re Happy and You Know It" and
"Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes."It’s
Hip-Hop, Baby!
sprang from Emmy Award-winning television producer Candi Carter’sdesire to find a new toddler video that would appeal to her 3-year-old child."My
son always loved it when I sang his favorite songs in the kitchen, tapping out
rhythms and beats with spatulas and spoons, so that’s how this started,"
Carter said. "Now, with It’s Hip-Hop, Baby! there is something cool, exciting
and educational for those hip parents in search of the next best thing!"Carter,
who has a BA in Broadcast Communications from Boston College, started her television
career at CNN in Atlanta, GA and later produced news specials and children’s
programming at WISN TV in Milwaukee, where she won an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s
Programming. The
DVD’s songs, which incorporate a dance-worthy beat, will also include a positive
message while promoting the learning of ABC’s, animals, body parts, colors and
numbers through musical performances.Listening
skills as well as the ability to follow simple directions are also taught.
