Last night at the White House Correspondents Dinner, President Barack Obama turned his spotlight speech into something you would see at a roast on Comedy Central. Although it was the last dinner for the 44th President, that doesn’t mean it had to be serious. From hilarious slides to Donald Trump, Obama didn’t leave anything on the table. He started out joking on his own speech material, stating that he would reuse it at Goldman Sachs, so he could get him some “Tubmans,” a reference to the Harriet Tubman who will be the new face of the $20.
Obama even bagged on Bernie Sanders, who was present at the dinner. The president mentioned the two’s distant according to MSNNBC,
“Bernie, you look like a million bucks,” Obama said. “Or to put it in terms you understand, you look like 37,000 donations of $27 each.”
The president even targeted Donald Trump, from why he wasn’t at the Correspondents Dinner, to cracking a joke about his lack of experience on foreign policy.
“There’s one area where Donald’s experience could be invaluable, and that’s closing Guantanamo. Because Trump knows a thing or two about running waterfront properties into the ground.”
Although Obama served jokes to almost everyone that night, the high point of his speech was when he literally dropped the mic to end his speech.
