Last night in both Austin, TX and Brooklyn, Vans showed loved back celebrating their 50th Anniversary with some epic Hip-Hop performances by Nas and Erykah Badu as the two cultures harmonized under one roof in the House of Vans.
Honoring their 50-year legacy with thousands of guests at the House of Vans in Brooklyn and Austin, TX for SXSW, Vans pulled out all the stops for some captivating performances showing just how much the two cultures have meshed.
According to skateboarding.transworld.net, a premier skating site, both Brooklyn mainstay House of Vans and the SXSW pop-up House of Vans at the Mohawk, were “transformed to showcase an imaginative representation of iconic moments from Vans’ legacy.”
In Brooklyn attendees were given a look at the brand’s history and a rare selection of Vans footwear showing the design progression over the past 50 years. Guests were also treated to custom-made and embroidered Vans checkerboard Slip-Ons.
“A crescendo of energy peaked during the obligatory birthday cake reveal, as Vans’ own Steve Van Doren graced the stage, joined by Vans athletes and extended family, to toast the once in a lifetime moment,” SkateboardingTransword reported.
Vans has more events planned for London, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Throughout 2016, Vans also has skateboarding demos, music events, interactive design workshops and art installations all planned within it’s House of Vans activations.
