(AllHipHop News) Despite rumors that Netflix canceled The Get Down, a person closely connected to the Hip Hop drama says the internet talk is not true.
The show’s supervising producer Nelson George issued a statement on Facebook.
“The Get Down has not been cancelled. Please don’t forward that silly report,” wrote George. “Our status will be determined next year. Part two comes this spring.”
The first six episodes of the series premiered August 12 on the streaming service. The rest of the first season is expected to return in 2017.
Rap icon Nas was heavily involved in the making of The Get Down.
The Queens, New York native penned many of the lyrics used in the show, and he also served as a producer.
The 1970’s themed production stars Shameik Moore, Justice Smith, Herizen Guardiol, and Jaden Smith.
According to reports, The Get Down cost at least $120 million to produce, making it the most expensive Netflix series to date.
