MTV News correspondent Sway Callaway is taking his love of Hip-Hop across seas.
The Wake Up Show host recently began the first in an international series of trips with a visit to Paris.
The experience proved positive for Callaway, who said he was inspired by the power of Hip-Hop while taping a segment for MTV News’ You Hear It First.
“After visiting Paris a few months ago, I decided to continue to travel to places like Tokyo, Japan, London, the UK, Scandinavian countries and Africa because I found out that Hip-Hop culture has created a platform for people who feel disenfranchised from the mainstream society all over the world,” said Sway, who added that he felt right at home despite the culture and language barriers.
The Paris segment will highlight many of France’s biggest artists, including Diams, Bobba, Rohff, Kohndo, Ministere Amer, Mafia K1fry and 113. Many of them have worked alongside artists such as Guru, Diddy, Pharrell, Redman, Method Man, Beyonce, will.I.am and Mobb Deep.
“When you look at it, there are a lot of similarities of common denominators that we’re finding between us and them,” said Sway. “It’s a beautiful result of what the subculture started in the Bronx
