The New Toronto 3 debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart in April with 64,000 album-equivalent units. Six months later, Lanez barely made it into the rankings’ Top 10 region with his latest project.
Lanez’s Daystar pulled in 36,000 first-week units. That put the album at #10 on the latest Billboard album tally. Most of the units came from 47.7 million on-demand streams and only 2,000 in traditional pure sales.
Daystar earned the lowest-charting debut week of Lanez’s career. 2019’s Chixtape 5 started at #2. 2018’s Memories Don’t Die bowed at #3. 2018’s Love Me Now? and 2016’s I Told You both launched at #4.

Tory Lanez released Daystar after over two months of news stories connected to Megan Thee Stallion being shot in the feet. The violent incident took place in July following a party at Kylie Jenner’s Los Angeles-area house.
Megan publicly named Lanez as the person that fired the gun at her that night. Lanez (born Daystar Peterson) was arrested for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and released on $35,000 bail. He claims to be innocent of shooting the Houston rapper.
