(AllHipHop News) The parents of Trayvon Martin have thanked rap mogul Jay-Z for his steadfast support in keeping the slain teen’s memory alive.

Jay-Z’s six-part docuseries “Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Trayvon’s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin were on hand for the opening, where they acknowledged Jay for continuing to shine a light on their late son.

“Just the magnitude of his name and what he carries as a person, not as an artist, but as a father, to have him behind this project is huge,” Tracy Martin said.

“Rest In Power” is based on the circumstances surrounding Trayvon Martin’s death at the hands of community watch volunteer George Zimmerman, in 2012.

Zimmerman was charged with murder but cleared at trial after alleging self-defense, based on Florida’s controversial stand-your-ground law.

Jay-Z has been among those fighting for justice for Trayvon ever since.

In February, Jay appeared at the 6th Annual Peace Walk And Talk where he praised Trayvon, who was just 17-years-old when he was slain by Zimmerman.

“Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to all the people out here so you guys would never have to go through the pain and the hurt these guys went through,” Jay-Z told the crowd.

“Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” is based on a book penned by the slain teenager’s parents Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton.
