Usher brought the vibes to a private island near Venice during the main celebration of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding weekend, headlining a star-packed party that followed their intimate ceremony in Italy.
The couple officially tied the knot on Friday (June 27) in Venice, but the real festivities kicked off the following night with an extravagant soirée described as the “main affair.”
Usher and DJ Cassidy were tapped to lead the entertainment for the exclusive event, which unfolded on a secluded island just outside the city.
The guest list read like a red-carpet roll call, featuring appearances from Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Orlando Bloom, Sydney Sweeney and Oprah Winfrey.
Speaking to Vogue during her final fitting, Sánchez said, “I feel like a princess. We don’t have a lot of traditions that we’re keeping. I mean, I love traditions, but for a 55-year-old woman, it’s a little different.”
The wedding was not without its fair share of controversy.
Protests erupted as soon as Bezos, one of the world’s wealthiest men, landed in Venice.
Picketers criticized the Amazon founder for his ostentatious display of wealth, particularly with the $56 million wedding and took issue with him “renting” Venice as his playground.
The couple had reportedly been legally married before arriving in Italy but chose Venice for their symbolic vows and celebration.
