Xzibit will host Rhyme Night, a monthly hip-hop
talent showcase that hopes to act as a launching pad for new signed and unsigned
hiphop talent from the West Coast.
"Rhyme Night will quickly become the hottest
ticket of the California hip-hop scene and will assuredly introduce some talented
new faces to hip-hop’s global community," Xzibit told AllHipHop.com.
Kicking off in Hollywood at Sixteen-Fifty on
May 28th from 9:00pm, Rhyme Night organizers will hold open auditions for all
hip-hop artists on Saturday, May 24th between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm.
Those auditioning will do so in front of Xzibit,
representatives from the company co-hosting the event, contrabandit.com and
various radio personalities and music industry executives.
"Rhyme Night will also feature special guest
MCs, DJs and hip-hop personalities that will come to perform and more importantly,
to vibe with the essence of the hiphop world," Xzibit continued.
Rhyme Night was founded by Xzibit and hip-hop
journalist Ryan Ford. Ford also is a co-founder and Editor-In-Chief of Contrabandit.com.
“Xzibit and I both recognized the lack of
true hip-hop outlets in Los Angeles," Ford said. "When I witnessed
his level of commitment to the L.A. underground scene, I was blown away. We
decided to create an event that would accommodate true hip-hop heads and provide
the chance for talented MCs to get discovered. Rhyme Night is the answer!”
"I hit up every open mic and underground
hip-hop event that was taking place. For me, it was more than just going somewhere
to get seen or hoping that someone would discover my talent – I went for
the love of hip-hop," Xzibit continued. "Now, I intend to give back
to the community that has supported my career and contributed to my success."
Sixteen-Fifty is located at 1650 Schrader Blvd.
in Hollywood, CA on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. & Schrader Blvd.
