Bun B Talks Giving Drake & Big K.R.I.T. His "Stamp Of Approval" (VIDEO)
(AllHipHop News) When a rapper receives a co-sign from the Trill OG that’s a major stamp of approval. Bun B spoke with Montreality about why he gave that acknowledgment to two of Hip Hop’s leading voices in the 2010’s – Big K.R.I.T. and Drake.

“Big KRIT got the Bun B stamp of approval because he was so studied about southern Hip Hop heritage. He was very concerned about wanting to be a contributor to that,” said Bun. “And he’s not afraid to speak the truth. I think that’s very important in Hip Hop.”
Bun appeared on KRIT’s “Pull Up” off 2012’s Live from the Underground album and “Shine On” off 2013’s King Remembered In Time mixtape. The Texas rap legend has also worked with Canadian rapper Drake. Bun and Drizzy collaborated for “Put It Down” and “It’s Been A Pleasure.”
“With Drake it was a little bit different. It was like nobody was really sure what it was going to be, but it was very interesting,” he continued. “His approach, his cadence, coming from a different surrounding, coming from a different world, it allowed him the opportunity to do it without being – I guess – held back by a lot of things that a normal American rapper would be held back by… it was just a fresh outlook on music, on life.”
Bun also speaks on first meeting 50 Cent, the return of OutKast, whether more Pimp C music is on the way, and what industry traps to look out for.

Teen Murder Suspect: "When I Listen To Rap Music I Want To Stab Somebody"
(AllHipHop News) Here we go again. For decades, accused criminals have used the “rap music made me do it” excuse for their actions, but in a murder trial in the United Kingdom it was the other side that brought rap music into the case.
An unnamed 16-year-old is standing trial for brutally stabbing 17-year-old Fico Dougan last September. According to the prosecution, the defendant was heard saying, “When I listen to rap music I want to stab somebody.”
The teenager then allegedly got a knife from the kitchen, returned to the living room, and stabbed the boy in the chest so hard the blade went all the way through the victim’s back. Witnesses say there was no apparent reason for the attack.
Others at the scene attempted to stopped the teen. A friend began yelling at the defendant, but he was “paying no attention; he was not listening.”

The accused teen was later arrested at his home. Police stated they found him outside burning clothes.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to killing Dougan. The defense is seeking a manslaughter conviction on the grounds of diminished responsibility due to post-traumatic stress disorder.

(AllHipHop News) Beyonce and Chris Brown are about to be the center of attention for news that does not involve fists flying. Today (May 14) the BET Awards nominations will be revealed and AllHipHop EXCLUSIVELY have learned that Beyonce and Chris Brown are nominated for Best Female and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award, respectively.
This nomination is currently Beyonce’s 33rd nomination. Ever since Beyonce’s solo debut album Dangerously In Love was released in June 2003, she has been nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop artist every year except two (2005, 2008). She has won the award four out of her last eight nominations.
The 2014 BET Awards will take place on June 29th in Los Angeles, CA.

Jay Z No Longer Pursuing Extortion Charges Against Former Engineer
(AllHipHop News) In other Jay Z related news, the Hip Hop mogul has decided not to continue with extortion charges against Chauncey Mahan according to TMZ. Jay alleged Mahan attempted to squeeze him out of $100,000 for the return of 5 years worth of master recordings.

Mahan denied the accusations and said he was given the masters to keep safe by Jigga’s label Def Jam. He also stated he reached out to the Roc Nation boss’ team on numerous accusations, but he never received a response.
Los Angeles police are dropping its investigation on the matter. The department will still keep possession of the masters until the situation is settled by a judge.

(AllHipHop News) The Roots are back with a new album. The conceptual …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin will be released May 19th, but The Tonight Show house band has now offered the 12-track project for streaming.

As lead rapper Black Thought explained it, the concept of the album centers around examining stereotypical themes often seen in Hip Hop culture and the greater society.
“It’s not just about just one kind of character, we create quite a few different characters in this record,” said Black Thought. “It’s satire, but in that satire it’s an analysis of some of the stereotypes perpetuated in not only the Hip Hop community, but in the community.”

Brandy Announces New Album on The Arsenio Hall Show
Singer/actress Brandy is back in the studio and getting ready to release new music for her fans who have been waiting since her ‘Two Eleven’ album. Brandy recently stopped by the Arsenio Hall Show and announced that she is indeed about to start working on her next album, and now is the perfect time for her to return to music. She hinted that this new project will be very personal, and it will tell a new story. Brandy shared that she wants to SANG this time around not sing but SANG. Arsenio said he actually wanted to hear Brandy rap again. Brandy replied, “Arsenio, you are going to have to let that go, rap is never going to be in my future.” Brandy was on the show as a tribute to Mother’s Day, as she was joined by her mom Sonja Norwood, who talked about why they don’t want Brandy’s daughter to be in showbiz. Anonymous Instagram User Calls Out Rappers Wearing Fake Watches
(AllHipHop News) In the entertainment business, image is everything. That may explain why some rappers feel the need to present themselves with lavish items even if those products may not be the real thing.
One Instagram user has taken on the mission of calling out those rap stars that show up in public with inauthentic time pieces on their wrist. Noisey caught up with the anonymous creator of the FakeWatchBusta profile.
After first exposing non-celebrities with fake watches on Instagram, the European who goes by “The Horological Batman” started pointing out celebrities that attempted to pass off knock-offs as real. THB talked about busting Carmelo Anthony and receiving threats of legal action against him.
“I get a cease and desist letter almost once a week. Instagram shut down my first account after I busted Carmelo Anthony with a fake Audemars Piguet and a fake Panerai,” said the self-described “watch geek”. “He is clean now but there was a lot of drama with his sponsors after I exposed his replicas.”
FakeWatchBusta got back up on the site and started targeting rappers.
“On the new account I have busted a lot of people, everyone from Rick Ross to Soulja Boy and Sean Kingston,” he said. “I just busted Jadakiss and he responded that he didn’t buy no watch from that guy. But I found a video that I posted proving him to deal with him and he even had the fake watch on his wrist. It’s all on the account.”
When asked if he felt the rappers are being conned or if they knew the watches are fake, THB states he thinks some jewelers do take advantage of the performers, but he adds, in his opinion, many of them are only concerned about the jewels in the piece not the watch itself.
“I think it’s more jewelery than watches for most of them,” said THB. “I mean Soulja Boy’s watch is a bad Audemars Piguet quartz fake and the battery has run out so it shows the same time in all his pictures. It’s 10:25 all day, every day. It’s pretty funny.”
Besides calling out the rappers faking with false watches, The Horological Batman also gives props to Meek Mill, 50 Cent, Eminem, and Jay Z for sporting the real deals.
Kelly Rowland Links With Pepsi For Visual Album
Kelly Rowland is having an amazing year! The songstress has started working on her new album and a few ad campaigns. Recently she has been added to the list of artists and producers joining Pepsi in their fútbol campaign.
Pepsi has announced that they will be releasing a compilation LP to celebrate soccer during the World Cup.
Titled Beats of the Beautiful Game, the new project will serve as a visual album. The concept behind the album is to unite some of the biggest names in music and film to help with the celebration of the sport.
“I was immediately attracted to ‘The Game’ because I can identify with its theme of overcoming challenges and finding your voice. It’s a very important message and I’m honored to partner with Pepsi on a project that brings the worlds of music, sports and film together,” says Kelly Rowland. “As an artist – and a huge film and sports fan – it’s been an incredible experience.”
In addition to Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Timbaland, Spike Lee, Idris Elba and more are set to be featured on the project. The album, which will be a collection of 11 anthem-like songs, will hit shelves in the U.S. on June 10.
Jay Z & Solange Reportedly Spotted Together In NYC
(AllHipHop News) As almost everyone on Earth continues to speculate on exactly what led to the fight in that hotel elevator between Jay Z and Solange, TMZ reports the two in-laws were seen together in New York City on Tuesday.

Sources say Jay and Solo were at the high-end jewelry store Mr. Flawless for about twenty minutes. Apparently, neither entertainer talked very much inside the establishment, nor bought any items. They were said to be getting along fine.
TMZ originally broke the story of Beyoncé’s sister attacking her husband at a Met Gala after-party last week when the site posted a surveillance video from inside the elevator. Bey, who was also present during the incident, was out in public with Jay the night before at the Miami Heat – Brooklyn Nets basketball game.

Jay Z Leaving For Rihanna AfterParty Without Beyonce Allegedly Started Elevator Fight W/ Solange
(AllHipHop News) The web that is being woven from a three and a half minute surveillance video of a fight has expanded even further. Hours after reports surfaced that Solange argued with Dame Dash’s ex-wife prior to fight with Jay Z, new developments surface.
According to sources with the The New York Daily News, tensions between Solange Knowles and Jay Z rose once Beyonce’s security, Julius was allegedly informed that Solange’s uninvited friends were attempting to use Jay Z’s name to enter the private Met Gala after party. Reportedly, Jay Z directly informed Solange to “not use my name.”
That comment did not sit well with Solange, however sources say the 27 year old songstress became livid when she learned Jay Z would be leaving to attend a Rihanna-hosted afterparty without Beyonce. Jay Z’s security was informed that he would not be needing extra security since Beyonce would not be attending the event with him, a revelation that a source said sent Solange into a verbal tantrum:
She seemed drunk and irritated. She said ‘Why can’t you go home?’ and to Beyonce ‘Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?’
Solange became physical after Jay Z responded to her comment by saying “you’re one to talk.” Jay Z was reported to have left the event in a separate car than Beyonce and Solange and did not attend the Rihanna-hosted afterparty.
