(AllHipHop News) After watching the video of the three elderly women reading Kanye West’s lyrics from Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love (Remix),” it may seem like the Chicago emcee’s rhymes are not appealing to the ladies, at least not the senior ones. According to Future, Kanye’s contribution to the upcoming Honest album will provide empowerment to all women.

The song titled “I Won” presents Future and Kanye addressing their respective relationships with fiancés Ciara and Kim Kardashian. Hitfix.com captured some quotes from the Atlanta artist speaking about the track while at SXSW.
“When you have songs like that, they empower women,” said Future. “I just feel like I want to big up women just in general, from my lady to his lady, to all women, to make sure they get their light on them and just knowing they’re important.”
Honest is scheduled for release on April 22. It also features Pharrell, Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, and Andre 3000. “I Won” is expected to be released as a single.
“That’s rare when you get a Kanye verse back in one day, so you know it’s one of them records when he does the verse and sends it back in 24 hours. That’s the icing on the cake with the album,” said Future.

(AllHipHop News) One of the members of the 2Pac founded rap group Outlawz was arrested and sentenced for attacking his girlfriend.
Stormey Courtney Coleman pled guilty in a Melbourne Magistrates Court for recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, and unlawful assault according to theage.com.

Coleman was accused of grabbing his then girlfriend’s hair and punching her in the ear and cheek during a fight last June. The assault caused the woman to suffer temporary hearing loss and anxiety which prevented her from working. She regained her hearing three months after the incident.
The Magistrate sentenced Coleman to six days in custody, but because he had been locked up for a week it was ruled he completed his time. He must also serve a 12-month community corrections order with conviction, participate in a violence prevention program, and complete 150 hours of unpaid community work.
Stormey appeared on the Outlawz/dead prez collaborative album Can’t Sell Dope Forever. He was also included on the posthumous 2Pac LP Pac’s Life.
Coleman currently lives in Australia after apparently leaving the United States to avoid the violence that had killed four of his brothers.

(AllHipHop News) Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash did not hold his tongue when speaking to a reporter from the New York Daily News recently. Dash questioned the publication’s credibility and called the newspaper racist.

“Why don’t you guys ever write about the good stuff about a black man? Why? Because you’re a racist, Republican paper,” said Dame. “I know it’s killing you that Obama’s in office. I know it kills you that you went to college to write for a paper that’s not credible.”
The exchange with the media apparently took place outside a New York courthouse where Dash was facing a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend. The conversation included the mogul asking the reporters present why they only cover “negative” stories.
“Why don’t you say he has art galleries around the world, he has independently owned companies that do well over $50 million, he employs at least ten people at any given time? How come you don’t ever say that?” asked Dash. “I can pay everybody else’s bills, but y’all just want to talk about the ones that aren’t paid of mine. The same exact tax bulls**t for five years. Get a new story.”

One of the younger emcees the New Orleans native mentions during the SXSW interview is TDE’s Kendrick Lamar. According to Wayne, K. Dot is untouchable at the moment.
“Ain’t nobody touch that dude,” said Wayne about Kendrick.
The Young Money boss also spoke about some of the performers on his own label. He named Nicki Minaj as the best overall rapper and called Drake “a wonderful person.”
Wayne took the time to reflect on his place in Hip Hop at the moment and his legacy in the game. Rather than being viewed like The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, and Jay Z, Wayne says he wants to be remembered as a “good spirit, a good soul” similar to Willie Nelson or Snoop Dogg. He also stepped back from his former self-given titled of “Best Rapper Alive.”
“I am not going to be jumping out here talking about, ‘I’m the best,'” added Wayne. “I don’t need anybody jumping at my neck.”
Wayne is expected to drop a single from C5 this week. The album is reportedly scheduled for release on May 5th.

(AllHipHop News) The old adage of shoot for the sky you’ll land among the stars seems eerily applicable in this situation. While on The Jimmy Kimmel Show in SXSW this past Lil Wayne described an incident in which a female fan unloaded a bullets on his tour bus.
According to Wayne, he and his entourage boarded the bus following a show and “a persistent fan” attempted to gain entry and was unsuccessful. After ignoring them, the female fan took matters into her own hand to get the rapper’s attention:
I’ve been shot at by a female fan. It was after a show and she was just a very persistent fan, you know. We didn’t know what she actually wanted. It’s a good thing we didn’t figure it out. Once we got on the road, the bus driver was like, ‘Hey those girls are on the side of us. He just kept saying it. We wasn’t paying him no mind.
According to Wayne, he was by the window at the time of the gun shots. Afterwards his driver informed him that it was the female fan.

(AllHipHop News) Once a disciple of the school of Kanye West, always a disciple of the school of Kanye West. During his appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show, Cudi spoke on the negative affect materialistic Hip Hop is having on Black culture and how there would be no Drake if he made one change.
During his appearance last night (March 14th) on The Arsenio Hall Show, Cudi spoke on his mission with his music. When asked what a song would sound like if he rapped about all of his material possessions, the 29 year old singer succinctly replies “there would be no Drake.”
While joking about replacing Drake, Cudi further elaborates on his opinion of Hip Hop’s fixation with materialistic lyrics. According to him, the flaunting of wealth, which is popular in Drake’s music, has become a detriment to the Black culture as a whole,
I think the braggadocio, “Money Cash Ho*s” thing is dead. I feel that’s holding us back, as a culture as Black people. That doesn’t advance us in any way, shape or form. We’ve been doing that same thing for years now. It’s been four decades of the same bullsh*t.

*Rubs Eyes* Is that…a new Jay Electronica song? Last night (March 14th), the epitome of mystery, Jay Electronica released his first song in over three years, “better in tune w/ the infinite”.
On “better in tune w the infinite”, Electronica raps over Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Bibo no Aozora” which was featured in the ending credit score for 2006’s movie Babel. “This is similar to his 2007 EP Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), which found Electronica rapping over the score for Michel Gordy’s Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind.
In the song, Electronica touches on a few of the reasons he has not been releasing music. One of the most poignant reasons seems to be his fear of revealing himself to a judgmental society:
It’s frustrating when you just can’t express yourself/and It’s hard to trust enough to undress yourself/standing exposed and naked/in a world full of hatred/where the sick thoughts of mankind control all the sacred.
Electronica has appeared on numerous songs as a featured artist since his signing with Jay Z’s Roc Nation in 2010. However, this is Electronica’s first solo release since his 2011 freestyle over Kanye West’s “Devil In A New Dress”, entitled “Prelude To A Freestyle”. Electronica appeared on J. Period’s “In The System”, a tribute to the Notorious B.I.G this past March 9th.
