(AllHipHop News) Lupe Fiasco promised to perform brand new tracks on his current Tetsuo and Youth Preview Tour, and the Chi-town emcee shared one of those songs during the Atlanta stop over the weekend. After telling the men in the audience to turn around, Lupe introduced the cut by announcing, “Now what you’re witnessing ladies is something we like to call ‘Drizzy’s Law’.”
(AllHipHop News) ATL’s Killer Mike and NYC’s El-P united to create one of the most critically acclaimed Hip Hop albums of 2013 with Run The Jewels, and the pair plan to drop another collaborative work in 2014. El-P sent out a tweet announcing Run The Jewels 2.
Music critics gave very high praises for the original RTJ. The album’s Metacritic.com rating is a score of 85 signifying “Universal Acclaim.” It received a positive critique from every publication that reviewed it. The duo previously worked together for Killer Mike’s equally heralded last solo album R.A.P. Music.
European fans of Run The Jewels can download a free version or a revamped deluxe edition of the album today via Big Dada.
(AllHipHop News) Eminem’s new album is still a day away from hitting stores, but the veteran emcee has already taken home an award as the “Artist of the Year.” He was given that title at last night’s first annual YouTube Music Awards beating out Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Psy, One Direction, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
The video sharing site live-streamed their inaugural awards ceremony around the world. The unorthodox event featured “live video performances” by Em, Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, and others. Em performed a John Gonzalez-directed version of the The Marshall Mathers LP 2‘s “Rap God.”
Other winners included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (YouTube Breakthrough), Taylor Swift (YouTube Phenomenon), DeStorm (Innovation of the Year), and Girls’ Generation (Video of the Year).
(AllHipHop Features) It has been seven years since Prodigy and Havoc of the legendary Hip Hop duo Mobb Deep released an official studio album. Since that time Prodigy served time in prison for a gun possession charge, the reconvened group teased fans with the 7-track Black Cocaine EP, had a very public falling out, and reconciled for a 20th anniversary tour.
The next logical step would be for the Queensbridge rhymers to produce another full length project to add to their catalogue, and according to P the long-awaited album (possibly titled Mobb Deep) is on the way.
Mr. Mecc caught up with Prodigy for AllHipHop.com to discuss what listeners can expect to hear from the infamous partners on their forthcoming LP. According to P it will be rooted in the recognizable Mobb Deep formula and not an attempt to ride the wave of the new era Hip Hop.
“So far what we’ve been doing all Havoc production. Just staying grounded, don’t try and chase whatever trend in music,” says Prodigy. “We can experiment here and there with a couple of songs, but for the most part we gotta stick to our guns.”
Besides Havoc providing tracks for the album, long time collaborator Alchemist is the only other producer contributing to the project. Alchemist produced tracks on the previous Mobb Deep albums Murda Muzik, Infamy, andAmerikaz Nightmare. The 36-year-old California native also joined with Prodigy for the collaborative album Albert Einstein released in June. Besides P, Hav, and Al don’t expect many other artists’ names to be listed in the album’s credits. They plan to keep the guest collaborations to a minimum.
“I think it’s better like that. This is your album. People ain’t buying a compilation album. They wanna hear you,” says Prodigy. “It’s nice to have features. Just don’t over do it.”
When asked who he would like to possibly work with on a song, one rising East Coast rhyme spitter and another from the West Coast got P’s co-sign. His first choice is fellow Queens emcee Action Bronson who he collaborated with for track on the Fool’s Gold artist’s forthcoming debut album. Prodigy then names Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt as another preferred up-and-coming rapper he’d like to get in the studio with.
“I like Earl. Earl got an ill style. He makes beats crazy to me,” reveals P. “When I listen to his music it reminds me of Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang but in a different type of way – young, crazy type of way. They even more crazy than we were.”
(AllHipHop News) It has been nearly three months since Kendrick Lamar shook the rap world with his verse from Big Sean’s “Control,” and the responses from Hip Hop artists are still making waves. The latest rapper to weigh in on K. Dot’s naming dropping lines is Young Money’s Nicki Minaj.
Nicki recently spoke with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club. When asked why she thinks Kendrick did not mention her along with his other worthy peers he claimed to want to “murder” lyrically, the leader of the Barbz gave two possible explanations.
“I’m probably in the top five n***as he did mention, so go and do your motherf**King research,” said Nicki, “I also feel like maybe he’s one of those respectful gentleman that probably felt like I don’t want to say a female’s name, or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill.”
The other bars from “Control” that had many East Coast emcees jumping to reply to Kendrick where the ones where he named himself the “King of New York.” Being a Queens native, Nicki countered that statement with her own proclamation.
“I’m the Queen of New York. I’m the King of New York,” added Nicki. “Let me tell you why. Platinum albums. Plural. Number one in five motherf**king countries. Don’t play with me.”
The “Roman’s Revenge” rapper left one final half-jokingly response for her competitors.
“When you got an album that go number one in Japan, and the U.K., and Australia, and America at the same motherf**king time, and Canada, then you can speak my motherf**king name b*tch.”

Word on the street is that Stevie J is asking his baby mama to chill out! She apparently has been causing him much stress and strife. Last week, AHH broke the news that Stevie J seemingly owed his ex over one million in back child support of their two kids. He hasn’t exactly denied the allegations, but she certainly has her paperwork in order.
Anyway, he definitely it a bit shook, in terms of having his business out in the street. According to Radar Online, he asked for her to chill the hell out with these press conference stuff she was doing at the time.
”What’s going on, uh I see all this press it’s going crazy and then I see something ’bout a press conference on October 31. I would ask you not to do a press conference…so let’s try to figure out what we doing, what’s goin’ on aight?”
She didn’t respond and had the press conference anyway, according to reports. I’m glad I don’t have any baby moms, because this seems like it could take years off your life.

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop centered record labels have been known to incorporate a female voice into the crew in order to add a balance of femininity. Bad Boy had Faith Evans. Murder Inc had Ashanti. Now Jet Life has Mary Gold. After appearing on the collective’s Red Eye mixtape released in August, the provocative New Orleans performer has officially signed with the imprint founded by fellow Crescent City native Curren$y.
“Mary….man, she’s just another level,” says Curren$y. “I can’t describe Mary Gold to you, I have to show you Mary Gold.”
On the BitTorrent released Red Eye, the new “First Lady of Jet Life” teamed up with Spitta for the remix to her debut single “Prayer.” The original version of the song featured an erotic black and white video that generated significant indie buzz for the self-described “nudist, c### and tree hugger.” Gold is currently in the process of completing her first mixtape Sex Hormone’d Druggie as member of the Jet Life roster.
“I first was introduced to Mary thru a link that she tweeted to me,” says Jet Life President and artist manager Mousa Hamden. “One word could describe her – captivating.”
(AllHipHop Features) Prodigy first made a name for himself as one half of the gritty New York City rap group Mobb Deep. Along with his partner Havoc, the Queens duo produced notable music projects including The Infamous and Hell on Earth.
Beyond contributing verses on Hip Hop gems such as “Shook Ones Pt. II” and “Quiet Storm” Prodigy also used his writing talent to craft his autobiography MyInfamous Life (2011) and the novella H.N.I.C. (2013). H.N.I.C. was released by P’s own Infamous Books publishing imprint which is just the latest branch of Prodigy’s growing entrepreneurial empire. The 38-year-old veteran emcee also launched his “Infamous” apparel line this year as well.
Prodigy spoke with Mr. Mecc backstage at AllHipHop.com’s 15 Year Anniversary Concert at SOB’s in NYC, and he shared that his continuous drive to expand his business portfolio is inspired by one of the elders from his family.
“I saw my grandmother build her business from the basement of her crib. She owned and operated her own business,” says Prodigy. “She was a very successful black women back in the 40’s and 50’s when it was racists and it was hard to come up for any black person.”
According to Prodigy, watching his grandmother build a successful company was a powerful example for his own moves in the business world.
“She taught me a lot. She use to talk to me about finance, saving your money,” explains P. “A lot of my drive comes from her. From her experiences and things that she taught me, and a lot of it just comes from just wanting to be successful.”
Prodigy also took a moment to share that his relationship with Havoc is back in a good place after reports of the two having issues surfaced last year. The pair reunited to embark on the nationwide Mobb Deep 20th Anniversary Tour this past spring.
“Me and Hav, we’re like brothers,” says Prodigy. “We had a little disagreement that spilled out to the public, that was corny. But it what it is. We’re back on the road. We’re working on the next Mobb Deep album right now.”
This is pretty good. Definitely a different twist to the crew. I am hearing that they just have to work out some legalities and paperwork and its officially official!
