Diddy To Star In “King of New York” Remake

(AllHipHop News) The Late Notorious B.I.G. often referred to himself as the “King of New York” and now his former label head is a part of a remake the 90’s cult classic of the same name.

1990’s “King of New York” starred Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne and Wesley Snipes. It was an unlikely film adopted by Hip-Hop, but it caught ablaze, resulting in Biggie calling himself the “Black Frank White” after the lead character.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is joining forces with director Brian Grazer to bring the movie back to the big screen. According to the New York Post, Diddy could take on the lead role, which originally was Walken’s.

The movie chronicled a drug kingpin’s return to the streets after a lengthy bid in jail and how he intends to take back his terrain.

Grazer told the Post, “Sean optioned the rights to remake ‘King of New York’ for two years. The film is a cult classic, and it will be great to remake it. Our version won’t be exactly the same, but will have the same hard-core gangster feel. Sean wants to be in it, he was amazing in ‘Monster’s Ball,’ and such strong characters sit perfectly with him.”
The pair expect to start the film next year.

Stevie Wonder: I Listen To Alot Of Rap So It’ll Be On My New Albums

(AllHipHop News) Stevie Wonder transcends genres and has embedded himself in the collective memory of numerous generations of people. However, the 63 year old singer wants fans to brace themselves as he recently revealed that he is releasing two new albums which will have a considerable influence from rap music.

To everyone else, rap-inspired albums from Stevie Wonder might seem unexpected but as he explains in his interview with The Associated Press, it’s a natural transition:

I listen a lot to rap, and I’m inspired to take it, to use it in another way, to get the message across.

The two knew albums from a man with a discography that spans over 50 years and 23 studio are titled When the World Began, a collaboration with producer David Foster and Ten Billion Hearts. These will be released in 2014 and will be his first albums of original music since 2005’s A Time To Love. Wonder’s production has steadily decreased each decade with him releasing 11 albums in the 60s, seven in the 70s, three in the 80s and only one in the 90s as well as in the 1st decade of the 2000’s.

Before Wonder releases new music he will give fans a unique showcase for their nostalgia. On December 21st, Wonder will perform his timeless 1976 classic album Songs In The Key of Life in its entirety for the first time ever at the 18th Annual House Full of Toys benefit concert in Los Angeles, CA.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Future Gives Fans Phone Number On Twitter

Future was minding his super human business and then he did something way too human. He tweeted his phone number for all to see. He deleted the tweet quickly, but it was not done fast enough. Soon, people were texting him and making allegations. The main allegation that has spread is that he was sending his number to other women. The only thing is that he just got engaged to Ciara so people are saying he’s ALREADY cheating. The truth is, nobody really knows. IT WAS A NUMBER! The number could be to anybody for anything. People that have called or texted the number have gotten nothing but v-mail and no responses. Don’t expect to get them either.

Somewhere, Mike Jones is laughing.

Future is keeping it moving though. He’s still touring with Drake and he’s got a new song with Miley “You Gonna Love Me” Cyrus.

SMACK & Cortez Turn Battle Rap Into Comedy At Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal (VIDEO)

The man that made that soundbite embedded in the collective memories of late 80’s babies, Troy “SMACK” Mitchell and battle rapper Cortez came to Cipha Sounds’ Hip Hop Improv show Take It Personal and had their explicit battle rap turned into comedic sketches.

With Cortez rapping lyrics such as “Flirting with death, I’m cheating or karma/I’m dancing with the devil, so I’m skeeting on all ’em,” the UCB improvisers on Cipha Sounds’ A Tribe Called Yes team turned those lyrics into FDA investigating drug dealers, b###### probation and much more.

Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal is every Friday at 9pm at the UCB Theatre on East 3rd St and Avenue A in New York City’s Lower East Side neighborhood. This Friday’s show (Nov. 1) will feature Hip Hop godfather Kool G Rap and Necro.

Joe Budden & Tahiry Discuss How Flirting On Social Media Impacts Relationships

(AllHipHop News) Fans of Love & Hip Hop New York get to watch Joe Budden and Tahiry live out the ups and downs of their relationship ever week on VH1, but the two reality stars are also followed by an interested public on social media. The Slaughterhouse emcee and the urban model spoke with The Grio recently about how being overly flirtatious on Twitter plays out in real life.

“Men and women, our perspectives when it comes to social media are a tad bit different,” explains Budden. “Women take that like the girl is there.”

Tahiry had a different feeling on the impact of flirting on social media.

“You shouldn’t be tweeting like you’re single. You should have your significant other’s feelings in consideration,” added the Harlem native. “You can’t be tweeting and flirting with other chicks in the public eye. We’re both in the public eye. You’re mad disrespectful.”

According to Budden then only way a dispute over actions on social media can be resolved is to “just succumb and do as she says.”

“12 Years A Slave” Director Steve McQueen & Russell Simmons Developing New HBO Drama

(AllHipHop News) Filmmaker Steve McQueen’s historical picture 12 Years A Slave is garnering widespread acclaim and being mentioned as a potential Academy Award recipient. Apparently not one to simply bask in the praise of the moment, McQueen is the process of creating a new drama series for HBO.

Deadline reports that the British director is working on a “provocative exploration” of a young black man’s initiation into New York City’s high society for the paid subscription network. McQueen is co-writing the unnamed project with World War Z‘s Matthew Michael Carnahan.

Executive producers for the show include Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman. Canning and Sherman produced McQueen’s 2011 film Shame starring Michael Fassbender. Simmons signed a first-look development deal with HBO earlier this year.

Whenever Ye shares his thoughts publicly he is sure to give quotes that will grab people’s attention. West’s latest noticeable statement is his belief that when it comes to fashion he and his fiancée are more influential than the President and First Lady of the United States.

“Collectively, we’re the most influential because it’s true, especially with clothing. Nobody’s looking at what [Barack Obama] is wearing. Michelle Obama can’t Instagram a pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day,” said West.

Kanye states that Kim is “the most intriguing woman right now” and deserves to be on the cover of Vogue. There have been reports that the fashion magazine’s editor Ana Wintour refuses to allow the reality television star to cover the influential publication, but according to West, former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld endorses Kardashian’s relevance to fashion.

“Roitfeld said on my girl’s birthday… ‘In my industry, beauty is a talent’,” Kanye said recently. “People used to be, ‘What is [Kim] talented at?’ She’s talented at being beautiful! Like, if you go to a club, and you see a bunch of beautiful girls, you might say, ‘It’s a bunch of talent.'”

R. Kelly Rep Says Alleged Impersonator Was The Real Singer

(AllHipHop News) Fans at recent R. Kelly show in Louisiana were upset when they heard that the performer they paid to see was not the real Kellz. It turns out the man they saw was the actual R&B singer according to Kelly’s rep.

Attendees at the event began demanding refunds complaining that the show started late and alleging they were tricked by a R. Kelly look-a-like who apparently barely performed. A local news affiliate KNOE reported that the party’s promoter, Cedric Johnson, sent a text to the station claiming that he was “duped” by an imposter and would refund all payments to purchasers. Johnson later claimed the he did not send the text and rescinded the offer to give any money back.

According to NME, a spokesperson confirmed that R. Kelly was in attendance at the All Black Attire Party on Saturday. The rep says that Kelly was booked for an appearance at the event and not a full concert. Some fans contested that a live concert featuring Kelly was advertised. Promoters deny that was the case.

Barneys CEO Says Black Customers Weren’t Profiled By Store Employees; Apologizes To Victims & Jay Z

(AllHipHop News) After nearly a week of public discussion about the two alleged racial profiling cases of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips at the Barneys New York store, the retailer’s chief executive officer publicly addressed the situation.

CEO Mark Lee held a press conference at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network headquarters following a sit-down with the MSNBC host. While offering an apology to Christian and Philips, Lee contends that no one at Barneys profiled either customer.

“Our preliminary investigation has concluded that, in both of these instances, no one from Barneys New York raised any issue with these purchases,” said Lee according to the New York Post. “No one from Barneys brought them to the attention of our internal security, and no one from Barneys reached out to external authorities.”

Lee stated that racial profiling and discrimination is not a policy at Barneys. He stopped short of blaming the New York Police Department for the profiling of Christian and Phillips saying he can “only speak to what we know from the preliminary investigation.”

Lee also apologized to Hip Hop mogul Jay Z. Jay has an exclusive collection with Barneys that is set to debut next month. Partial proceeds from the sales of “A New York Holiday” will go to the rapper’s non-profit organization.

“We deeply regret that these recent events have distracted from the great work of the Shawn Carter Foundation, and we offer our sincere apologies to Mister Carter,” said Lee.

Chris Brown To Enter Rehab After DC Incident

(AllHipHop News) According to multiple reports R&B singer Chris Brown is headed to rehab following his latest run-in with the law. Brown was arrested for assaulting a Washington, DC man over the weekend. He was first charged with a felony, but the charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor.

The 24-year-old “Fine China” performer entered a rehab facility yesterday in order to “gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.” There is no word if Brown’s current stint in rehabilitation will affect the release of his upcoming album X. The project is scheduled for release on November 19th.

Brown is still facing a 180 day jail sentence for the DC case and possibly four years in prison for probation violation stemming from the 2009 assault on his then girlfriend Rihanna.

WTF News: 8-Year-Old Gets Scalped by Bullies on School Bus

Hip-Hop Rumors: Could The NYPD Be Guilty In Barney’s Profiling Cases?

So, this is partially off the record, since it lies within the doldrums of the rumors. But, here is what I am hearing regarding the profiling case. Guess what? The NYPD – world renown for their profiling ways – may be the actual culprit in this case. Jay Z MAY have been damn right. There was a meeting today with The Rev. Al Sharpton, National Action Network, the CEO of Barney’s and some reps from Jay’s camp too. And it seems that Barney’s said that nobody in their store called the police. So, therefore, are going to give the side eye to 5-0.

The ill Prince side eye at that.

Eff it. Give em the ill Michonne “chop yo’ head off side eye!”

That said, I heard the meeting was productive overall. But, the work continues in that Rev. Sharpton is meeting with Macy’s tomorrow, because they too have a similar case in the pot. On top of that, he’s looking to meet with the NYPD and the heads of at the same time to discuss racial profiling. There will be marches and rallies before you can say “Black Friday,” from what I’m hearing. That said, the NYPD are in the hot seat for real. Never forget they have an actual policy to stop and frisk Black people.

That cop is actually Boston PD. LOL.

Epic Fail of the Day: Woman and Father-in-Law Catfish Each Other For Sex Romp

A Chinese man and woman who are related accidentally arranged a secret sexual liaison with each other and got the surprise of their lives when they showed up at the motel and spotted each other. Lili, 28 and Wang Pai, her 57-year-old father-in-law, were both using fraudulent profiles when they stumbled upon each other in an Internet chat room.

Via NY Daily News:

After hitting it off, and unaware of each other’s true identity, they agreed to meet in person — at a hotel in Heilongjiang province, northeast China — for some raw, passionate loving.

But when a scantily clad Lili opened the door to her room, she was stunned to find her in-law waiting at the door.

Then — to make matters even worse — her husband, Wang Jai, turned up after reading her emails, punched her in the face and attacked his pop.

“When I opened the door, I don’t know if she was more surprised or me,” said Pai, according to the Daily Star.

“She turned and ran off down the hallway into her husband, my son, who had been following her. He started shouting and then he attacked her, and then he attacked me,” he said.

Jai — who allegedly knocked out two of his wife’s teeth and gave his father a head injury that required hospital treatment — was arrested and held for five days.’

Three things:

One. Stop Catfishing people.

Two. Stop being fooled by Catfishers.

Three. Stop cheating, or at least be smart about it.

Underground Rapper Dee-1 Signs With RCA Inspiration

You know, quite often people stop us and ask us why we think it’s so important to go hard for underground artists and today’s announcement is the perfect example of why it is that we do things the way we do them! Rapper Dee-1 has announced that he just inked a deal with RCA Inspiration.
